  1. I was using the GKtech fan and having issues. Swapped to my chopped out standard fan (I had to cut mine just like you did) and it has fixed all my problems.
  2. What series RB25? 1/2/Neo
  3. Free flowing exhaust and a slightly rich tune will do this! And it does look like the end of the exhaust is red hot but it's actually not haha. Certainly looks cool though
  4. I said external gate in the first post! God damn i am getting ridiculously keen for this! RB25/30 NEO + 6Boost + TiAL + ID1000 + E85 My poor bank balance
  5. Excellent, i didn't think it would become that much of a restriction. Good news! Also, sorry for such a noobish question, but what size is the rear housing on the SS2? .82?
  6. Stao what are your thoughts on an external gate SS2 on an RB25/30 running E85? Looking to run about 15psi. Would the turbo choke the engine?
  7. I have 6x R33 GTR wheels 4 with brand new tyres. $1600 happy to freight them at your cost.
  8. There is a difference between compressor surge shortening the life of a turbo and a brand new genuine Garett GTX3076 lasting a month. I would look elsewhere for your problems, while i acknowledge that compressor surge is seen as a bad thing, i am 99.99% confident i wont kill a brand new turbo in that time.
  9. Doesn't bother me what day so that sounds good i guess haha
  10. Ahhh all this talk of twin turbo shenanigans is foreign to me, RB25 life! Forgot you guys are running 26 heads haha. In a 25 with greddy FFP and high mount turbo it would be the turbo that would struggle to fit under the bonnet then yes?
  11. Luke, how much would you have to have cut the bonnet if you chose not to lower the subframe?
  12. Ideally someone should make the meet and i will just rock up hahah. Being a newbie i have no idea of the good/bad locations!
  13. Negative, the fan was on the correct way 110% sure.
  14. Drove the car on saturday when it was pissing down rain, maybe 12deg outsde crusing at 60km/h in 4th gear doing 2000 revs. Temps reached 120deg. > Put standard fan back on (not even a good quality one, i cut about 1/3 of each blade away so it didn't foul on intercooler piping) > New coolant > Bleed system > Has not gone over 80deg so far Seems like Matt may be correct.
  15. Anyone keen for a meetup this friday night or perhaps on the weekend? Recently moved to Newcastle and wouldn't mind meeting some new people!
  16. Nah mate still haven't found the issue. Let us know if you get it sorted dude, cheers!
  17. All I know is that I am sick of the thing overheating. Where is the best place to get a koyorad? Will see if headgasket is fubar, if yes go MLS. Replace water pump, new koyorad and put shroud and standard fan back on. If that doesn't keep it cool then I obviously have a major issue somewhere else.
  18. Extremely high voltage can kill things like diodes etc. Cyrrent most certainly does kill things, but massive voltage spikes will also do it.
  19. So nothing i did worked. For the record this is with a GKtech fan and 52mm alloy ebay radiator. The car would get 6-7 laps in then just overheat. Once the temperature cracked 100deg it would continue all the way to 120 (which was where my water temp gauge finishes) and just sit there, presumably still increasing in temperature. Sitting in the pits pouring water over the top radiator tank and spraying a mist over the entire surface of the radiator and intercooler letting it idle trying to get it to cool down. Even that would not drop the temps to below 110 degrees. Removed the thermostat and nothing changed. Changed to a larger radiator (still ebay special) and nothing changed. Once it got past 100 degrees there was absolutely zero stopping the temperature from continuing to increase. I drove at 3-4000 RPM to try and get the clutch fan to cool the engine down, drove at about 80km/h in 5th gear using as little RPM as possible to try and cool it down, but honestly nothing worked. I also fully flushed the engine block forwards and backwards, the same with the radiator. Used brand new coolant every time and fully bled the system properly before each time on track. Tried both a .9 bar and 1.1 bar radiator cap. I am thinking it may have done a headgasket when it overheated the first time, and subsequently leakes pressure into the cooling system pushing all the coolant out of the system, as my overflow was filling each and every time. It doesn't show any signs of a blown headgasket (oil in water) but i haven't done a compression test yet to confirm. Any thoughts appreciated.
  20. And do not boost it on the way to the tuners, keen the RPM as low as reasonably possible and just cruise there.
  21. Not the same but you can change them. I ran an R34 Neo pump on my R33
  22. I appreciate the fact that you always take the time to explain what R&R is GTSboy. I think I have now read about 7-8 different explanations on what it is from you and always tailored to the OP's question. As someone who was in the same position as some of these people not long ago it really is very helpful.
