Ok, here is the follow up to my USA-Spec install for a while ago. The Spec.dock is an ipod/phone dock made specifically for the 35 and is only available only from 2point5.com in the US I will start by saying it ain't cheap, but you get what you pay for. I had originally planned to get something similar made locally but in the end this made the most sense. I just told them that i had a USA-Spec adapter and wanted to use with an iPhone 3G and they sent me over the suitable dock and connector. So, very easy install, just need to drill a hole in the back of the ashtray, and route the cabling to wherever you have secured your converter box. Secure it down with the pre-atached double sided tape and its good to go. Few piccies below... as it came out of the box. USA-Spec connector one end, dock on the other centre console where the converter box lives drilled out hole for the cable to pass through dog getting sick of me taking ages... doing a good job guarding my bike though! INSTALLED! WORKING! Sorry for poor quality pics, taken in the garage with poor lighting on my phone. It charges and plays via line out. my only two small gripes are that the angle could be back a bit, its a little upright... and that it emits an extremely faint, high pitch noise, but with the engine on or even just music playing quietly its inaudible. So I can live with both of those quite happily. Overall, very neat, extremely high quality build with integrated genuine apple dock, and accessible when needed. Highly recommended.

Chrome Door Protector Removal
strydes replied to fcruz3r's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I just peeled it off and got onto it with some bug and tar remover to remove the glue residue. It was a bit of an effort but well worthwhile... those things are uuuugly. Inspected closely and gave it a polish afterwards and the paint looks perfect. -
yeh I'm keen to know how it ends up too, please PM me the price also. I spoke to Autotainment also and they said it was less than an hour install and uses the factory buttons. Extremely tempted if it works well, I just want to make 100% sure it wont be a problem with the manual.

Fs Tyres From 17inch Stockies
strydes replied to NISMO's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
sorry to hijack... I have got the 19" OEM Potenza's in Perth if anyone wants em. Car came in with 13,000km's on the clock and the tyres look good for that mileage, very light wear, nice and even. Dunno what they are worth, you tell me if your interested. -
Sydney Ipod Install Review
strydes replied to V35 Matt's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
So it arrived Wed night after that post and naturally I was out there tearing down the dash 10 minutes later. All in all an extremely easy install, didn't even get to use my soldering skills, all plug and play! Though I had dismantled the dash before to install my FM expander so that part was very familiar. Currently I have the whole ashtray & cig lighter assembly out whilst I work out a way to neatly integrate the dock in there, so there is a gaping hole with the cable coming out. How does it work with the iphone 3g running 3.0 firmware? Excellent, no complaints. Steering wheel controls work, sounds is crystal clear, I even listen to my podcasts of various Triple J segments instead of the radio cause the quality is better. On that other connector, my opinion would be don't risk it. The PA11-NIS works perfectly, and this other one doesn't appear to have any additional benefits (song text doesnt work with the pre 06 V's with any connector)... so go with what you know. So, now time to work out the best way to integrate the dock, suggestions welcome. I will take some happy snaps of install to date and post next week. -
Sydney Ipod Install Review
strydes replied to V35 Matt's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Can't really think of a reason that firmware 3.0 would cause an issue. The charge voltage hasn't changed and dock adapters still work. The bluetooth stack has been improved but that will not affect this i would think. Mine cleared customs on Monday so should be arriving late this week or next. I won't have time to install until next weekend so will update then as to if it causes any issues. I'm also waiting on delivery of a iphone 3g specific dock so I can try to make up something to go where the ashtray is, rather than paying the obscene price they want for one of these... http://stores.homestead.com/2point5/-strse...DOCK/Detail.bok Very neat though! -
Have a look at the pic's in WAZ's thread, its exactly the same as that. I really wanted it so I dont need remotes for the gate and roller door at my house but I hear the autodimming is very good also. It cost me $50US and $30US for the plug and wiring kit. Postage... I'll wear most of that since I'm sending over a box anyway, so at .77AUD conversion, call it $110.

Get comfortable, this could be a long post... So I am buying some bits and pieces from the US at the moment, and after reading 'WAZR32GTSt's topic (HERE) on installing a Homelink mirror I bought one from the G35 forums. It was delivered to my cousin in New York who subsequently took a photo of the plug, which I hoped was the same as the plug I already have on my one. Long story short is that it is different, and further down (post 13) in the above topic 'n15m0' puts up a couple of pics of the back of his mirror (from a series 2) which is exactly the same as mine. So as it turned out n15m0 found out that the plug has to be plugged into the mirror for the intelligent key to work. But heres the thing... I dont have the intelligent key and for me it still doesn't work. So here come my questions... 1) What the hell is in the the S2 mirror that makes it control the central locking? 2) Based on the answer to Q1, am I stuck with the standard mirror now (I'm thinking so), in which case, does this mean it would be possible for me to purchase and switch to an intelligent key? 3) If I were to get the mirror I bought sent over anyway, is there anyone (series 1 only) interested in buying it and a brand new plug and wiring harness (3 wires only)? Chris Rogers, why do I get the feeling you are my only hope for an answer to Q1 and 2!! BTW, for those going 'What the hell is an intelligent key?' heres your answer... Yes its cool.

Automatic Window Wind Up Kp Technologies
strydes replied to ALLBLITZ2's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Any chance of them letting us group buy on a variety of different things? Maybe give discount based on total retail value? Some want the mirror tilt thing, some want the window roll up and I would be keen on the sunroof module aswell to go with the window one. -
Sydney Ipod Install Review
strydes replied to V35 Matt's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I just bought one off this mob: http://myworld.ebay.com.au/audiosavings/ I want to use it with my iphone so having included the new style 5V charger cable was important to me. $118US worked out to $151AU delivered in the US. Since I was getting it sent over I also picked up a Homelink mirror from a guy wrecking his G35 for $50US. So when they get to my cousin in New York he will send them both over, should be small enough to get both in a 'Small Package' box with USPS so only $13US. Don't know why ebay sellers always want to charge so much for international delivery! -

Hello! - My Search For A White V35
strydes replied to -wB-'s topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Hey mate, I was exactly the same boat as you, but really wanted the 19s and sunroof along with white and manual premium. The brembos put you between a rock and a hard place because to get the series 2 you cant get the brembos, and the series 2 interior IMO is a solid step up. My advise would be (as I did) let the brembos slide in favour of the newer car, I don't hit the track and it sounds like you wouldn't either, in which case they really are just for looks and arent worth sacrificing the series 2 for. Mind you... those 19s sure would look a lot better with a set of brembos behind them -

Unusual Issue - Can't Fold Down Rear Seats
strydes replied to MaXiMuS007's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Bit of side note while we are on the topic of dropping down the rear seat... I did it for the first time last weekend and discovered I am able to get my MTB in the back!!!!! Sure both wheels need to come off but with forks and bars through the gap into the car it fit in fairly comfortably. Not ideal to take off the rear wheel but means I don't HAVE to use the missus car to transport my bike any more. So anyone with a bike it may well work for you too depending on the frame... though if you ride platforms then it might cause you height issues, I'm on SPD's and it fits ok. -

watch out for ones like that, they are not Nissan ones so good shape and fitment could be questionable. -

Thanks for the photos oaksey, quite the stealth photographer there, didn't even notice you were lurking most of the time! I will try to put mine up tonight if there are any decent ones. And Chris those 4 teasers you put up look great, wish I had a photo of my car mid flight, if i knew you were doing that i would have driven right next to you guys the entire cruise! Anyway, was great fun, really good to meet the bunch and head out for a drive, especially along the coast up to Hillarys, that was great. Richard, your prep skills were top notch (except for not having enough maps so i had no idea where to go ) and I think everyone really appreciated the effort. -

Paul, I feel sorry for ya mate, you had to do so much more prep than everyone else and you have been screwed at the last hurdle. I don't care if i'm there by myself (ok maybe i do) i'm gonna be there. My car is clean, its a beautiful day and i'm gonna go for a drive (sorry to rub it in Paul). -

btw... i forgot to mention that this sounds awesome! hopefully get some decent photos rather than the efforts of the rest of us happysnappers! weather is still looking peachy too. and if anyone feels they may need to get in contact on the day (worried about finding the meet point or being late etc), shoot me or xtc a PM and we will pass on mob numbers. -
Western Australia's V35 Cruise
strydes replied to V35_Paul's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
My advise mate... if its not too far overdue, postpone it. These things are a b*tch to organise and as such they tend to happen pretty infrequently so if you have something on that you can postpone its worthwhile if you are keen to get out on a cruise of this type.
