Looking for 4, 15" Factory R31 aussie steel wheels. These came as spares on the Ti's and silhouettes, as well as the GTS's. They are often referred to as "Interceptors" I don't care what colour they are, but they have to be in good condition and straight. Can anyone help me out?

The car in the pics has the same front as the 2 door GT that I went for a drive in. Unreal car, the noise was breath taking. Yes 72GT, a skyline is a skyline, and all japanese skylines are still made in the prince factory, does this make them all PMC's. Food for thought. I am fully aware that the 1964 prince GT was the first GT, but it wore a nissan badge as well as a prince badge. I was not referring to nissan/datsun being different brand names or anything like that, just pointing out the different marketing names. In 1985 nobody thought the nissan name would take off, so for 18 months, all nissan cars sold here had datsun badges on them as well. Thats what I like about the ozzie R31, it is unique in this world of imported skylines. For its faults (diffs etc.) and characteristics, its a very different car.

Soz to do that to you matey. They needed an extra bit of mapping to sort out the mixtures with the very lumpy cam in the GTS 2. And Nissan Australia had an agreement with Bosch, not to alter the original equipment ECU's, so that is why the piggyback happened instead of a power chip. All in all the extra work only equated to abround 4-5 kilowatts at the wheels. With the different gearing (shorter diff ratio, taller gearbox) it wasn't really any faster. So was it really worth it? Having both of these cars, the white one is more fun to drive, its a blokier car than the red one. But the red one just has that really lumpy idle, and responsiveness that the white one, isn't lacking, but just isn't the same. The red one handles beautifully. I have never (and I mean never) driven a car that handles like my GTS 2 does. I have driven a lot of cars, and I haven't even driven a modified one that handles like this car. Not saying they are not out there, but I doubt you would find one, out of the factory that handled like these do. The cops in 1990 loved em, (there were 6 police cars made by Nissan Special Vehicles Division for the Vic police, 7 for the tassie police, and 7 fire cars as well, all GTS 2's mechanically, but stock bodies, apart from the Tassie ones which had the full body kit, wheels etc), and actually preferred them over their FE2 suspensioned Holden, and modded ford police cars. As much as I say my GTS 1 is more fun to drive, thats probbaly because its more replacable (parts), than the GTS 2, and I am not as scared of driving it hard, coz if I bend it I can fix it, the red car is, and always will be my favourite, and that tends to be the common denominator, as reflected in the purchase price of both cars. You will pay double, or even triple for a nice GTS 2, over a nice GTS 1. But they are still great cars. The red ones will go down in history amongst R31 enthusiasts as being the pick of the crop though. I would like to say that is just my opinion, but it seems to be the majority vote. Oh and by the way, you all gotta buy the december issue of unique cars, where you will see both my GTS's featured in Past Lane. Joe Kenwright and unique cars have done a feature on the SVD Silhouettes, and they used my babies for the photo shoot. Its out on the 16th December.

Thanks for sorting that one out for us. I have very recently seen a 1972 KGC10 GT. Apparantly the first Datsun Skyline to wear the GT Badge. (Once again, this is heresay, so I could be wrong), but that is an awesome car. Went for a very fast ride at the Beechworth Prince 40th Anniversary in this car with Ron Libbis. If this car was a 1972 plated car, I doubt it is possible for a C110 to have a 71 build date. Once again, I could be wrong, and maybe they ran the models side by side like they did with the R31 and 32 in Japan for a little while. But I was pretty sure the 240K as we know it here, was not released in japan as early as 1971. Can anyone verify this?

My c110 "240K" Hardtop coupe was first regd in 1971, i thought that was about wen they first started getting brought in? it even has the 4spd box in it <{POST_SNAPBACK}> A c110 is not a 240K. I could be wrong, but I was pretty sure the C110, and C210 were released after the 240K, and these were the cars that came here as skylines, the first Datsun Skyline in Australia, (The first real one was of course the prince, under the Nissan banner, not Datsun). You May be thinking of the KGC10 or C10, which came out before the 240K, and was not available through Nissan dealers (sorry Datsun) in this country. That was the model before the 240K. The 240K hardtop I was pretty sure was not released in Australia until 1973. Maybe one of our historians can verify this.

Can the Mods please post this in the Victoria and NSW Sections. Many Thanks. It's not getting enough interest in here.

Well its official, we have Deca booked for the 20th Anniversary of the R31 for next year. I have not posted this in the upcomming events section, because this will be a national event. Global mods, feel free to post this on every upcomming events if you feel the need. This is gonna be one huge event with Skylines of all makes and models welcome for this weekend. It is fully CAMS sanctioned, and is covered by all the nice things, like public liability, that a CAMS event offers us. It is being fully supported and funded by the NDSOC and myself. So if your pride and joy is not running, or in need of some TLC, you have almost a year to get it ready. The event is being held over the whole weekend, so book your holidays now, and be there. Registration is on Friday the 28th July, at the Shepparton Town Hall. Show and Shine is at the Sheppartons Victoria Park Lake on Saturday the 29th July. And we have a full track day at Deca, (Events are not yet finalised, but will probably include sprints, regularity events and the like) on Sunday the 30th July, and for those of you who don't want to do the track day, we have a nice sunday cruise to the wineries etc around the area. Presentation dinner is on Sunday night, and trophies will be offered for first, and second places. Each model skyline will be covered, but it is an event in recognition of the 20th Anniversary of the only Aussie Skyline ever made, so that vehicle will be the premier attraction. We also have trophies for Best GTR, Best Engine bay, and Best paint. We will have Skylines from the first Prince GT's to the R34. Please mark this date in your calender, and express your interest to [email protected]. This is our first skyline nationals, lets make it huge. Edit** Did the Shepparton run this weekend. What a fantastic place. We had an all day meeting with the Shepparton Council's events Manager (Mark, what a nice bloke), yesterday, and finalised venues for the presentation dinner, the show and shine, and accomodation. We are just waiting on final prices, and then we can confirm costings for everything. Accomodation is going to be very, very reasonable, and we have three types available, from cheap cheap, to just outrageous. Haha. The show and shine is gonna be huge, and we have almost 100 trophies to give away, so you have to be in it to win it. We wanna show the Shepparton car scene how we skyline people do it. And there is a massive car scene here. We sat in the Hotel restaurant just watching these guys "cutting laps" all night. They love anything with four wheels up there. I am very excited about this event, and after visiting Shepparton, and seeing how co-operative and welcoming the whole town is, I know it's just going to be a great weekend for all who can come along. Thanks to Peeps (Libby), Acsplit (Andrew), Ejay and the Murano for all their help this weekend. It was a bit social with some work thrown in, but a good weekend was had by all (I think) in Shepparton. I am really, really excited about this event. I really want SAU to come on board with this event, to make it bigger than Ben Hur. Mods, please don't delete my post again, because I feel that this one event will set the pace for a "Skyline Nationals" every 2 years. The NDSOC have Nissan nationals every two years that more than 300 people attend. There are a lot more skylines out there than Zeds, so lets co-operate, communicate and get it together please!! All SAU Members are covered by their CAMS affiliation for this event, so you don't need to join NDSOC either.

Posted on the R31 website, as well as Nissan Datsun Sports Owners club. Also thinking of SVD club, its not real active in Vic, bit it is in other states.

Dads was bought in 73 I am sorry, my mistake. September 73 to be precise. His was a 240K GL coupe, and was metallic blue, with 14x6 5 slot alloy wheels. w00t. I loved this car like there was no tomorrow, it was such a joy riding round in the car when the cars of the day were hq holdens and xb fords. The fact that it had IRS and a gaggle of other gimicky interior items (even carpet and a fan forced heater as standard) made it extra special in its day. The 240K left em all for dead in both performance and equipment levels. It was involved in a very scary accident in the adelaide hills after the brake fluid boiled, and the car spun a heap of times and frightened the crap out of me. The paint on the car faded to nothing as well, but it didn't put me of my nissans. I have seen several 240K GT badged 240 K's. Becaue I loved them so much, I have tended to look out for them over the years, and I do recall even as early as 1973 seeing some GT badged cars. My dad kept the car for six years when he traded it in on (of all things) a second hand HZ Holden. Go Figure.

Register your interest with me as stated in the first post. All details about events and pricing will be forwarded to you as soon as its available.

I have met both you and Marvin the Martian at Beechworth. You are more than welcome to bring the purple beast along. As stated in the flyer, it is open to ALL MODEL SKYLINES, doesn't matter how old or new they are.
-
Any model skyline is welcome - Prince GT to R35, but definately NO VL's. Full stop, they are not a skyline. Please tell me thats a joke.

Yes it is early notice, but being a national event we need it. As we have the Winton Track booked, we need to get competitors lined up, and numbers crunched fairly early. We won't know what the costs are going to be until we get some numbers, so the earlier the notice, the more opporutnity people have to let us know they will be there. Can a moderator please make this thread sticky.

Hiya Jim, ROFL at hello little girl. I actually met you at beechworth last year as well. I had the R31 red GTS 2, (the modern skyline as the Prinz boys kept calling it). So tehr ya go, small world hey.

The only Skyline to ever be 100% built in australia was the R31. (Yes I know it used imported driveline and other bits, but it was put together here from good aussie steel and workmanship) Funny how the only local component of the driveline (the diff) is the only achilles heel in these cars. There were some R30's built here from CKD packs, and someone may be able to correct me here, I am sure that some C110's and C210's were built from CKD (Completely knocked down) packs as well, but the only truly production line built skyline, built in australia was the R31. Nissan Special Vehicles disbanded in 1991, and the last GTS silhouette rolled out in 1990. The last skyline was produced in 1991. There were 20 SVD police skylines in melbourne, 7 fire skylines (all had full GTS running gear, but no body kit, standard cat back exhaust and 15" interceptor wheels with hub caps), and tassie had both police and fire cars, but they were full spec GTS's. Both series 1 and 2. My Dad bought a 240K in 1972. I thought it was the best thing I had ever seen. Must have been where I got my skyline fetish from.

Its not in australia, only Japan. Once a japanese car gets over three years old, the yearly taxes and fees rise dramatically each year. Service costs are also huge. That why there are so many imports here, south africa, new zealand, because the older the car, the harder it is to get rid of in japan, but much easier to ofload to us. That is why they are low kay, and generally in very good condition. You can get a preservation - or historical significance attached to a limited build car in japan ie: HR31 GTS-r or R32/33/34 GTR, and this helps to keep the cars there, but not for long, they generally find their way somewhere else.

RB25 is the way to go I reckon, N/A RB20 is a dog with fleas. And I can hear the N/A howling now, hmmmm.

When I did my turbo conversion, I did it properly. Did a GTS or import brake upgrade, new suspension, new cooling and new brake hydraulics. Replaced all cooling hoses, including the hoses on the turbo, and the oil hoses on the turbo. I bought the complete VLT Kit of ebay, for $900, which included, injectors, ecu, turbo, manilfold, hoses and everything that was needed except the heat shield. But the ecu was stuffed, so I have to get a changeover ecu. All of this owes me 3 grand, and I haven't got a cooler yet, so what I am trying to say, is don't underbudget. You are looking at 1000 dollars plus, for labour, (thats if you get it done cheap) to do this conversion, so don't expect to get out of it cheaply. But it is soooooo worth it. It is the best money I have ever spent on a car. Any money you spend, if it is done properly, and you don't kill the car, will add some value to the car, but you will never get back what you spend. I had an import, as well as my 3 local cars, and I am sorry but I didn't like it at all, it was an RB20 DET, and a laggy, gutless son of a bitch of boost. I like the local car much better. Our local cars are built a little better as well. To get a good import, you are still looking at 10k plus, and they are expensive to fix and get parts for., and they only come with an RB20, not the torquey grunty indestructable RB30 in the aussie car. Go the aussie car, (which it seems that you want), and just spend your money. It's not hard to fall in love with the aussie R31, its a very good car, if you start with a good car, it can only get better.
