  1. Will do, got some great pics, and story. Gav's car is what actually started my purchase Ideas for this car. Hope your OK matey, major surgery sux.
  2. I probably should make a thread about the car, and the drama's we had getting it to Phillip Island in time for the Historics. I can't tell you what a buzz it is to have this car, and to be able to look at it every day. Gavin's is a nice car, and sounds fantastic. He didn't modify it though, it was like that when he got it. He is currently in the process of bringing it back, and hopefully it will begin to make some appearances. Which section should I start my thread in Mag86? Any Clues?
  3. Ahahahahahha - OK, I won't post anymore lol.
  4. I have always been a fan of DR30's, (Ironmask only). Now that I have one of my own, even a bigger fan. I love the white, it's a very cool colour. Most of the DR's I have seen on here have strut braces, yet mine doesn't have one? And mine is a little bit unique. Anyone know where I can get some tail lights, you got some D?
  5. You will get a heap of help for parts from these two sites as well: www.r31skylineclub.com and www.classicskylinesaustralia.com.au Funny thing about R31's and how we get all wound up and passionate about them.
  6. This one is my new Rare Skyline. They don't get much rarer than this little beauty Pic taken at Phillip Island Historics this last weekend.
  7. Do we need to get you a better seat Jetwreck?
  8. This was another great event this weekend. It was also my Group A DR30's debut after sitting in Terry Ashwoods Restauraunt for the last few years in retirement. She came out kicking and screaming, but did exceptionally well on the weekend, and she looked great. We ended up on Sunday with a 1st in class. We qualified 14th out of 32 cars. 1st Race - FInished 10th 2nd Race - Finished 6th 3rd Race - Finished 4th 4th Race - Finished 6th Car came home without a scracth, and some slight mechanical issues to do with a miss and we need to find the reason we can not get the right boost. I need some R200 Diff ratios if anyone knows where I can get some.

  10. Have to tape glass headlights, so that if they break, the glass doesn't fall out onto the track. Just a precaution. We all got heaps of runs TETS, was fantastic. We are hoping for another one very early next year, so stay tuned.
  11. Here's some of the pics I took, I haven't edited any of them, so sorry if your wanting corrected colour and stuff, I didn't spend the time checking everything before snapping the pics :
  12. Once again awesome day, and the photo's from you guys show just how awful the conditions were. Forgot to say big thanks to Copnis for his help on the start grid, you were out there in the rain for ages, doing a great job. Thanks heaps. Official results are below, and even though Brent is the Motorsport secretary for CSA, we are not going to let him race any more, in the true Australian motor sport tradition, we are banning him. Anyone who is fearless enough to go out in that weather in a Fiesta XR4 and win is a nutcase hehe. Well done everyone, only a couple of harmless spins and no bent cars in what was very slippery conditions. Anyway Official results below as promised. 14. .. dual post sorry
  15. How PHAT was today. Even with the crap weather (It rained all day), it was awesome. My first time on a race track, and in George, was a bit tentative, but I managed a PB of 90 seconds in the wet, and Blue managed a fantastic 66 seconds. GTS 11 Managed a 74 second run in George, which was only 2 seconds slower than Antonio's BMW M3 that was there today. With a slight difference of around 110 kilowatts at the wheels, that was an awesome effort. Marc said the GTS still had so much more, but he was as tentative as me about bending it. So I reckon the ol GTS has a potential 66-68 second pass in the dry, but with Mrc driving it not me, but I reckon in teh dry, I am good for a 74-75. I loved today, and the Gippsland car club have asked us back to compete again in Car Karna and another track day. They were very impressed with our behaviour and sensible driving, so Kudos to everyone who turned up today, you did the club proud. Next time we run this event, it will be a little cheaper, coz we are now CAMS Affiliated. Thanks to the guys from SAU and NDSOC who turned up to run on the day, it was a pleasure to have you here, and hope to see you next time. Marc drove the fire engine competitively today with a time of 76 seconds out of a bog stock standard car. Admittedly a GTS 2 in disguise, but this car is as it rolled off the production line with some 98 RON and extra timing. It has also covered some 240,000.00 kays with no engine work at all. I can not believe it went so well with 5 year old tyres on it. I was super impressed with the fire engines run under Marc's careful (sic) care. Wheezy, your car is amazing, I was so pleased to see it run so well today. Was fantastic to see your confidence build with every run. You certainly had it nailed by the time I left anyway, what are the chances of seeing you at the next event? w00t, what a day.
  16. This looks like a nice example, with the steering wheel even having the original horn pad still in good condition. Would be worth finding out if the owner still ahd the roiginal stereo. Would be nice to see some more detailed pictures of the engine bay and interior, ie front seats. At this price, it is certainly worthwhile considering, or even investing a small amount to go and have a look at it. Refer to my first post about the problem areas for the cars, GTS's are not imune to rust under the guards, and this should be the first place you look for problems.
  17. GTS2 is an investment at the moment, particularly a good one for under 10 kay, which is very achievable. GTS 1 for around 5-7 kay is even better value. But you don't buy one of these to mod them, waste of money, and the future value of the car plummets. If you buy a GTS you should leave it stock, as all limited edition rev heads will tell you, it doesn't matter what sort of car it is, if it was ever limited edition, it will always be worth more stock standard than modified. As lot's will say. if it's your car you can do what you want, and that's a fair call, but don;t buy a limited build if you want to modify it and try to recoup your cash. Would suggest a nice silo and some mods, 25 or 26 even, mmmmmm. Don't even bother with a 20. For 10 kay you will get a bloody nice coupe though, and there is kudos in the two door, even now.
  18. firstly this is a mental exercise to figure out cost as I'm considering buying a sedan. I did a bit of digging on these and like the TI/or silouette versions. found costing on them in the $2k-5k area and I'm looking at RB25det halfcuts in manual form (ala R33 s2) -$2-3K now the questions: 4 spot brakes - how? does R32,33/Z32,31 stuff swap to get 5 stud on the front, twin spot rears - how? - redrill or new axles? Better off putting Z31 or GTS struts into a local car to get a floating hub setup. Local R31 has fixed hubs, whereas Z31 and GTS have floating hubs. Get your rears redrilled. lights - best version for HID lights ? Any version will be fine. Lot's of people use the late model import lights, as these look like Xenons with HID globes in them rear swaps (foudn some info on the R31 site) after the stovetop look now logic tells me that teh sheetmetal is the same - correct? Sheetmetal is the same for all rear light fittings, even coupes. Stove top will bolt straight up. Make sure you get plenty of sealer in behind them so they don;t leak. You may have to fiddle with wiring looms, as they are different between the series. LSD (part of the reason I like the two models) what type? can you shove somethng else in it? Only the silhouette had the LSD, not the Ti. You can go to Kaaz LSD if you are wanting a tougher LSD. factory coolers - oil,Psteer,Geabox? - available? where (nissan?) Trans coolers are better from the aftermarket shelf, engine oil coolers, the local GTS had an excellent setup, but you will find these difficult to source from anywhere. Your only option may be aftermarket again. rust on body - where do I look? Behind the front guards, local cars are shocking for rust where the firewall joins the inner guards, especially eastern seaboard cars. You can see rally bad stuff if it is there by looking at the drivers side A" pillar door hinges. If there is any sign of rust around the door hinge, it's a safe bet it has expensive rust to repair under the guards. Lift up the rear boot seal and inspect, most will have minor rust there, but minor is easy to fix, major isn't. Some earlier cars experienced rust in the roof rails and where the "C" pillar meet the roof line. Other than that, you shouldn't find any bad rust on a local car. theres probably more questions - I'll add to it as I go. I hope that helps with your questions. R31 skyline club has an excellent tech section. Classic Skylines Australia is fairly new, but caters for the earleir model cars too. I can help you with genuien parts if you were after any as well. Carsales is a fairly good place to look for good cars, adn tehre is always plenty of them available for sale on R31 Skyline Club. Plenty of people in there who know lots about these cars.
  19. I don't know the specs Dennis, I just know that DR30, HR30, R30, R31 and HR31 Sedan and coupe are all the same part number. Cheers
  20. Rears are the same as your R30, will get some measurements on fronts for you matey.
  21. Hey Ghostrider and everyone else. These are being sold by me. I am the only person in Australia to have them, and they are the real deal. If anyone has any problems or questions about the authenticity of these Shocks, please ring David at Quadrant on 9769 9666 to verify that I am a legitimate reseller of these shocks. I source them direct from Germany through Quadrant, and have done for over a year. I am the only stockist of R31 Bilsteins in Oz, and had to invest a hell of a lot of money to stock them. Anyone who knows me, knows that I go to a lot of trouble to source and/or reproduce parts for these cars. I hope that clears it up. This rumour started when I was asked a question about how adjustable the bilsteins were by an ebay user. I replied that they are not adjustable like Koni's are adjustable, but the rears can be adjusted by height before bolt up. The ebay user accused me of being a fraud after I replied to his question, as he believed all Bilsteins were adjustable, which they are not. Some are, these are not, and never have been. For the record, my ebay feedback is legit.
  22. For anyone who may be interested, there is a new forum and webstie for Classic Skylines Australia. There is no competition here, so feel free to go and introduce yourself. http://classicskylinesaustralia.com/theforum/index.php Hopefully not stepping on anyone's toes here. It's always good to have more information available. Cheers Cazz
  23. Having seen them all his weekend, the 31 is very exciting to watch. (Thats me sitting behind the R35 with the cap on in the first photo). The 32 just grabs the attention though, everywhere it goes. After hearing Jim Richards and Mark Skaife echo jetwrecks comments almost word for word, it seems the 31 has the nod for fun to drive. I would find it very hard to make a choice, I would want them all, for different reasons.
  24. Well here I am in Sydney having been invited by Rod Markland and Terry Ashwood to attend this weekend for the last V8 Super car round, and of course the fabulous Group A and C Historics. To say I am having a ball is a complete understatement. And the R35 is simply awesome. We have this car on loan from Nissan for the whole weekend. Hooks in his element Some more pics from today. Rod ran a fantatic race, starting from last because of a DNF yesterday, and gained to get a tenth from a grid of 35 cars. Adam in the bluebird had brake issues and as already advised the Exa was out for today, but Glen Seton managed a second behind Paul Stubber in the A9X for the last race of the day. It as really a huge day today, with Skaifies last supercar race, and the crowd was unreal. The R35 was a massive drawcard, and everyone loves Terry Ashwood's R32. The HR31's also drew a huge gathering, and everyone it seems has some sort of memory about these cars. I had a great weekend, looking forward to coming home, but something I will never forget. I have felt very priviledged to be involved with this event. Jeff Fischer from Nissan Motor Company, the guy who organised the GTR for us
