  1. Thanks for that, I'm in touch with him now.
  2. Cheers, okay got my hands on some RDA 310s now. How much were GTT Calipers from justjap?
  3. Cheers Scotty, The quieter the better - just want it for weight saving and a bit of performance.
  4. I'm not sure this should be in the 'what have you done to your stagea lately' rather than 'what will you be doing to your stagea soon' but I'd prefer not to start a new thread. n00b alert Quick question - I've warped my front rotars and will be getting new calipers at the same time. I'm about to get my hands on RDA slotted front rotors 296mm by 30mm for my nm35 - the seller is saying they suit R34 GT-T but I beleive the GT-T came out with 310mm by 30mm and the R34 GT came out with the 296mm. Should I be asking the wreckers for front GT-T calipers or GT calipers. My knowledge of brake system is zilch to none. Years ago when I used to come on here, I think I remember people buying the V35 Skyline GT cat-back exhausts as a cheap direct replacement for the NM35s big heavy resonator. Am I remembering correctly? what about the 350z exhaust - that also works but needs a minor mod?
  5. f**k i hate cars like this.
  6. Hey Rich, Can you Pm your mates phone number. 'DJRIFT' He's installing an alarm and dump on the m35 for me this weekend and I need to get in contact with him.
  7. I'd also be interested in the answer to this for an 02 AR-X.
  8. My insurance company said the same thing "it has to be fitted with an Australian Standard Approved Alarm" and so I said "can you please provide a list of these." Then silence. They couldn't produce a list and did say "there was no list." Indeed they couldn't even tell me what constitutes an Australian Standard Alarm (i.e does it need to come with a rotwheeler or automatic launch of nuclear weapons on the offender etc etc). I reckon it's a bit of a minefield actually because there is a standard (4601 or something) but I can't find the detail in that standard. I would be off to court if they failed to pay up because of this......
  9. Mate, I've just recently gone through the import process and am now getting a few mods. I think it was 3 months before I took took hold of it. It didn't leave port for 2 to 3 weeks. You really shouldn't have any time expectations, it'll only drive you mad. A few thing to be aware of: *it's likely only going to come with one key; *be careful of where its complied, compliance shop failed to do the basics with mine, in fact he only did the paperwork and didn't changed the oil filter and air filter amongst other things. I've just changed the airfilter and its made a significant difference to fuel economy What I'm doing at the moment: *Putting in Scotty's dumps on Saturday. My dad has more welding DLi tickets than you can poke a stick at and was a Tafe Teacher in welding for 20 years and he said it was of good quality, though he could tell it wasn't fabricated by a qualified welder. * Putting in an ipod connector so that I can keep the original facade without having to shove some hideous shiny flashy cd player. * New alarm and immoboliser ($100 off ebay) * Frequency expander (you won't get a lot of fm stations without it). In relation to your cat-back, import monster have Blitz NUR Touring catbacks for $950 (delivered) which are probably the quietest but they have a huge tip. Hope this helps.
  10. Nagoya eh? Your car had 50-65000 k's when you bought it then....
  11. Hi Ryan, Thanks for this. If you have a smart phone, why not just video the rear end while moving through rev range stationary and post it on youtube?
  12. I'm sourcing the exhaust and dump in SA and VIC from those that have already custom built them for the m35. Just need someone to install them. I'll pop into Auto Addiction and see what they can do for me.Cheers
  13. Howdy, Couple of questions. I've got an Nm35 Stagea Where's the best place to get an immobilizer/alarm installed? Do most of you buy a kit off ebay and then get a place like Hobart Audio to install it? I recently imported the car and it's come with an alarm (and maybe an immobiliser) but my insurer quoted that I needed an 'Australian Standard immobiliser,' which has me worried if it got knocked off. Also, where's the cheapest place to get a dump and catback installed? I rang up Moonah Mufflers and Carline and the latter seems the cheaper for an install. Cheers
  14. Cheers!!!! So that will fit the non bose system? Does an installation manual come with it?
  15. scchwweet, thanks for link.
  16. MEH! My CD player won't eject a CD and i'm getting 'CD Err F0.' I reckon it's just cheaper to sort out a connection to my ipod. Is there an AUX at the back of the player or do I need to buy an adaptor, similar to the V35's. Oh and I didn't realise VE SS did the 100 in only 5.5secs, dayyamm
  17. This is interesting. A lot of people on here have claimed a dump pipe will significantly increase performance. Its all subjective I suppose. My car is standard at the moment, I'm 95% sure i'm going to get Scotty to fabricate a dump pipe for me and AM Performance a Cat-back. I'm going to do a 0-100 before and after. Does anyone know of an App for Android to test this? I've got Galaxy S2, so something to use the inbuilt GPS I assume. I think there's a thread about the SS Wagon vs M35 somewhere on here. Well last night I burnt off a new Calais but i'm 99.99% sure it was the SiDi v6 version. Still, it was a comfortable 'win.' I'd assume an m35 with a turbo-back (and nothing else) would match an SS. Where I live the air is crisp and I think the turbo works a lot better than anywhere else in Australia. I'd also be interested to know the weight difference (if any) between a standard exhaust system and a typical aftermarket one.
  18. Hi, I just thought i'd give a very brief run down of my initial impressions of the M35 Stagea for those thinking of buying one. Note: This perspective comes from someone who hasn't owned a turbo charged car before. I have the AR-X Four model and in summary i'm delighted with it. It's completely stock (atm) Styling - 7/10 If you're over the boy racer looking cars (like me) then the M35 is perfect. The styling makes the C34 look draconian. As an aside, if you're not over the the boy racer looks but want a wagon, IMHO the Legnum runs rings around the C34 Stagea. Unfortunately the square back on the M35 does nothing to help the overall look of the car. Driving Comort - 9/10 The AR-X model is a dream to drive around bumpy street (like where I live). It absorbs bumps beautifully. I intend to upgrade the suspension but at the moment i'm loving the ride too much. Interior Comfort - 9/10 Again this is excellent. I have leather heated/full electric seats which work a treat. Being in a colder climate, i also have the coldpack which really tops it off. (There are issues with coldpack car and rust but no such issues with my particular car). There is heaps of storage space, not just in the boot but in the cabin. Loads of handy little holders. I only noticed this last night, but the boot lining is held up by little gas struts when accessing the spare wheel (brilliant attention to detail). Performance - 6.5/10 Throttle response is abysmal, there's no other way to put it. I have to cross a busy highway to get to my house (no lights) and I've been caught out a couple of times by the lag. 0-20km is poor in line with above.. 20-90 is excellent 90 - 130 (overtaking) is well below my expectations - I hope a dump pipe will assist here, it just seems the boost just runs out around 110km. Handling: look if you're coming from a skyline or evo then you'll be disappointed but I think the handling is good, even for the an 'offroader.' Value for Money Value for money is good and brilliant if you search around. I wouldn't be purchasing the first one I saw. Overall Recommended - it's a Liberty GT Wagon for 10k less and with more power and gadgets (though the styling isn't quite at the level of the GT).
  19. http://www.tokyoprestige.com.au/car_details.asp?id=143 This looks a pretty schweet deal. In fact it's annoying how cheap that is for someone who's just purchased but i'm stoked with my AR-X all the same. 13k for a well optioned 4.5 grade model is great ... that particular one has the VDO, fully powered/heated/black leather seats. Steer clear of a car-yard you've named above, K's most likely wound back.
  20. Well i'm not tracking this, so i'll forgo the turbo timer which is fine by me. I'm nearly ready to buy a dump Scotty. Going to take it to a local exhaust shop for fitting, They charge $55 an hour, so i'm probably looking at about $200 yeh? 3-4 hours work? I might call up my insurer for a list of Australian Standard immobilisers.
  21. What's the go with immobilizers on the NM35's? My insurance company stated to me that it must be fitted with an Australian standard immobilizer. My AR-X comes with an alarm, I assume it also has an immobilizer. Did most of you still install a separate immobilizer? I wouldn't be all that chuffed if my car was stolen only for insurance to claim I didn't have an "Australian standard Immobilizer.." Any suggestions on the cheapest and most suitable turbo timer? are they absolutely necessary for this car?
  22. Hmm this might be a go'er if the Legalis is loud. I know a dump improves performance significantly (and i'm doing that) but does a cat-back in these cars do much on top of the dump? Any recommendations for an air filter or is a K&N from autobarn or supercheap good enough. Upon importation, did most of you get it serviced straight up? Compliance don't do anything along those lines do they?
  23. I don't know what I did above ^^^ (how do you delete a post). I thought (again from what i've read on here) custom exhaust weren't as quiet as some branded exhaust. If not, i'll just do that, they're cheaper as well eh?
