ok another stupid question about HICAS ??
morlock replied to TiNTiN's topic in General Automotive Discussion
but seriously. What is the worst that can happen if HICAS is disabled. For example if I pull the HICAS fuse out of the holder and drive what is happening? Does anyone know exactly what effect this has?? -
hehe...i was pulled over for a random on saturday morning at 10:30am driving up to auto1 and I only had the car for a week.

no more G-FORCE!! NO NO NO NO!!!
morlock replied to superspit's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Hehe....I had the same problem when I changed my ignition coils. I forgot to do up the pipe connecting to the plenum chamber and spent hours looking at it trying to figure out what was wrong.....sometimes it's the simplest things -
Finally got my Skyline!!!!!
morlock replied to J-Flash's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
He is referring to problems that are introduced when a vent to atmosphere BOV is installed. Things like bad idling, backfiring and stalling are caused due to the airflow meter not getting the recirculated air that it is expecting when the standard BOV is installed. Some people have these problems and some don't. If unsure then there is a BOV from GFB called the Stealth FX that allows you to adjust how much air is vented and how much goes back into the system. -

What harnesses does it come with. And does it have the logging/tuning software included? -
where can I get a Skyline checked mechanically?
morlock replied to DarkCoupe's topic in New South Wales
I have always used BD4s in Gladesville and they have done a great job everytime. They are also official Australian distributors for HKS and have HKS certified mechanics. When I bought my baby, the first thing I did was take it to them for a service and they were extremely helpfull and performed a detailed inspection. Quoted prices for repairs were accurate and they are always communicating with you if something is wrong or they require to do further work due to an unforseen problem. Speak to George and see what they can do for you. http://www.bd4s.com.au I haven't had any experience with UAS service center and have only bought parts from them, but they do specialise in nissan imports. Hope it all works out -
What have you covered the mdf in?

Front round indicators for 400r style bar
morlock replied to morlock's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Thanks for the input.... I was thinking about the gtr clear indicators from UAS (I actually purchased the Trial Front Bar through them) but the sales guy at UAS couldn't tell me how they fit on the bar without the plastic grill they are normally attached to for a GTR style bar. I will wait till the car is back from the smash repairers on Tuesday and make sure of the size before purchasing $300 bucks worth of indicator globes. I think I may be able to get them for half the price from BD4s in Gladesville, they mentioned they could give them to me cheap when i was there last week. If anyone has a pic of how they actually mount in the holes that would be great!! -
Hey Guys, I'm fitting a 400r style front bar with the recessed holes for the front indicators and was wondering where locally I can source some indicator lights. Also how do you mount them in the holes? Cheers

you need to get them tested. Some workshops do this. BD4s in Gladesville Sydney tested my coils for me and found 2 faulty.

Turbosmart E-boost what a difference!!
morlock replied to morlock's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hi Guys.....Yeah I know that it is pretty vulnerable to thieves on the a-pillar....this car isn't my daily driver so it's not that big a deal, but i was thinking of just putting a black sock over it if i'm in a bit of a dodgy area. I used to get spikes up to 14.5 psi with the bleed valve (boost set to 12psi), but with the eboost I don't get any spiking and yes it is much faster and smoother delivery. The unit is larger than your average boost guage and would need a large pillar mount to fit...not too fussed about this though. The unit cost $749 inc gst and was about 2 hours labour to fit (about $150) -
Turbosmart E-boost what a difference!!
morlock replied to morlock's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
whoops....don't know what happened here -
Woohooo.... well finally got around to having my bleed valve setup swapped for a turbosmart e-boost controller. All I can say is this thing rocks and BD4s did a great install job, I also changed my faulty ignition coils and the car now revs like a demon. Main difference I have noticed is how fast it builds boost now and I haven't experienced any spiking or boost pressure loss at higher rpms. I also swapped my crappy simota pod for a HKS superflow for better airflow.

Increased Boost and still misfiring
morlock replied to QuickR33Melb's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah.... I had misfiring at high rpm (anything above 5000rpm) and BD4s tested my coils and found 2 faulty ones. Am having them replaced today...so hopefully should fix things up for the track day in 2 weeks. WLD747 thanks for the tip on the nissan cover...ill take it off for the day....out of interest, what do you do with the black box that sits on top of it at the rear of the cover? -
im not much of a fan of the r34 shape (except for the rear) but you'll have heaps of fun in that car!!
-
I like everything about modding, the looks the sound the power..... but i get the most enjoyment out of improving my own mechanical knowledge and actually knowing what is going on under the bonnet....not like some of the porche/ferrari drivers at some track days ive been to.

Thanks for the update Fhrx. Checked out your site, looks good. Will give you a bell when i implement stage 2

I did this last weekend. Installed a set of 6.5" fusion 2ways in the doors. My door skins had already been removed once before so it was pretty easy for me. let us know how u go. take some digi pics along the way to.

I bumped into 3 white r33s down pacific hwy near lindfield, one of them had a nice green underbody neon kit on.... anyone know who they are? I was driving with em for a short period and only got a couple of words in before I had to turn off into my driveway. They looked absolutely awsome driving together.

My system consists of: - Kenwood 4x50watt MD Headunit - Fusion 6.5" 2 ways front and rear off headunit - Sony Xplode 6x9s in parcel shelf amped off a jaycar response 2x100watt amp - Fusion 12" powerplant Sub powered by a Fusion 2x100watt powerplant amp Want to get fusion 6x9s, another powerplant amp and fusion motorized face mp3 head unit to complete the fusion set. Will probably be selling the kenwood and sony gear soon.
-
It also depends if the sub can support a 2ohm load, are both subs that you are going to use identical? If not then you can also get a really crap result due to differences between the 2. Boss amps aren't known to be that great, is the 1000watt rating PMPO or RMS?

hehe....the sales guy kept telling me that it was being delivered tomorrow, whenever I called it was always being delivered tomorrow....after a few days they told me that the inventory computer stuffed up and it wasn't in stock. When i tried relating everything that happend to the manager of the store, he was extremely rude and aggresive and wouldn't take responsibility for the stuff up. I only asked him if they could delivery the gear the same day instead of overnight due to the fact that I had been waiting long and was expecting it to arrive 2 days after I placed the order. The phone conversation ended badly, however the next day I received a call from the original sales person that I dealt with to say that they would be hand delivering it to me. So it ended on a positive note, which im happy about. But I don't understand why some people take complaints about service so personally, the manager acted like I was attacking him or something. Anyway, it all ended well so am obviously not going to pursue it further.

Hey guys, Has anyone bought car stereo stuff from Ryda.com?? I just bought some fusion gear from them and they have stuffed me around and aren't even going to give me the freight charge for free. Am considering requesting refund (which they are unlikely to give) and will probably have to go to court to get it. Has anyone else had any problems with them?

For which car are u looking to purchase?
