Blown tyre was on the front too. It wasn't just flat, it looked like it had disintegrated. It's just sitting on the rim. Could just be a female driver. Bashes into things, every panel damaged, gets a flat and just keeps driving. Must keep driving, don't know how to change tyre, can't be late for work.

Subwoofer/alternator/timing Belt
cobbadan replied to w34ponGT's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Cant really answer that one, i would assume that the correct tension would be , tight enough that they don't slip. And i would have also assumed that, if they were slipping, you would be able to hear them squealing. a quick google around got me this, im sure there will be more, out there in google land. see the car handbookfor the correct method of checking the ten- sion. If one is not mentioned press the belt firmly mid-way between the two most widely spaced pulleys; there should be about 1/2 in (12mm) deflection in the belt. -
Subwoofer/alternator/timing Belt

Thats a bit odd. Something to check, other than the obvious tension of ya belts. its a bit of a long shot but worth a look. People commonly upgrade the earths to reduce headlight dimming ,, so maybe they have disrupted the earth somehow. You will probably have an earth strap running from the block, to the body of the car. have a look around for that and make sure its still connected. check that your battery terminals are clean and connected nice n tight. check the connections on the back of the alternator to make sure they are all sweet. Its either gonna be 1) your alternator output has dropped for some reason. ie: belts slipping or 2) the power flow around your car has changed ie: bad earth, loose terminal etc -
Wiki Wiki Wiki sure to have some of the stuff your looking for.

Only other thing is your fan clutch. Google it to find how to test it and what to look for.

You didn't take it out and feel for cold spots though ? I flushed mine while it was in the car too. Did it a few times. Nothing came out but coolant. Seemed fine. Was still 50% blocked though.
-
Did you check the radiator for blockages yet ?
-
Does it overheat on the highway or more around town in traffic ? A fairly easy way to test your radiator for blockages is to take it out, boil the jug, turn the radiator on its side and fill it up with hot water. Then place your hand all over the fins and feel for any cold spots. My car was overheating on the highway which meant i had a flow problem which was either water pump or blocked radiator. Turns out my radiator was about 50% blocked. I tried my best to clean it out and i did get alot of crap out of it but not enough, it was still fairly blocked. I got myself a second hand factory radiator off a member here for $50,, no blockages,, beautiful.

What Happens When Use A Clay Bar?
cobbadan replied to Hadouken's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Nice work on the after hours car wash. I've never actually done that but I've almost done it a few times. I did think you might have been doing that until I saw the other cars in the background. Ever had anybody say anything ? -
What Happens When Use A Clay Bar?

Im surprised nobody's said, What the hell are you doing washing the GTR at carlovers / whatever its called in your area. Especially on a dark coloured car, with the fine scratches & swirl marks those brooms leave behind. Next time your at a servo at night have a good look at your paint under their fluro lights,, you'll see em. It depends how pedantic you wanna be i suppose, but when i first got my car, the paint had never really been looked after so it was a big job,, i spent three long days claying, removing swirl marks and polishing with an orbital, then waxing. After spending that long getting it up to scratch, there was no way in hell i was gonna go to carlovers and wash it with the same broom that oldmate just washed his dirtbike and his 4wd with. even if you do spray the broom before ya start. The CF wrap looks pretty good,, how hard was it to apply without stuffing it up ? -
My car - R33 gtst, series 1 On the power fc sensor check screen there is one called F/P which is described as fuel pump, another one called FP1 which is described as fuel pump control. At idle the F/P is on and the FP1 is off. When the throttle is pressed the FP1 switches on, back off and it switches off again. I did find a possible/plausible explanation which goes a bit like this. As a safety feature, when the car is started, the fuel pump is powered by the ecu. After a certain time, lets say five seconds, there is a relay that switches so that the fuel pump is being powered through the oil pressure sensor. The reason for this is so that in the event of an accident where the engine is mangled, the engine will stop, oil pressure drops to 0 and fuel pump switches off to prevent a fire from fuel pissing out everywhere. Cant remember where i found that, but i know it was not on a nissan forum, so could be totally un-related to our cars, but it does seem plausible. Can anyone explain if this is whats happening with this FP1 sensor switching on with throttle ie : fuel pump being powered by ecu, then when ya back off it switches to being powered by oil pressure sensor. Or something similar
