Here's some pics of my recent gauge install. Keep in mind these are 60mm gauges, so if you plan on doing the same thing, your gauges may not cover the grill and the hole -- see below. Also keep in mind that my current dash fascia is pretty crappy, so i wasn't too bothered about hacking it up and having a go. Same story for the cluster. These are the only pics i have on hand of what was there before,, that red thing is a fancy switch (that fires missiles) and beside it is a grill,, behind the grill is the air intake temp sensor for the climate control. I'm more than happy to adjust the air con manually so it didn't bother me losing that. Its actually still connected, just doesn't suck the air through the grill anymore, its just tucked in behind the gauge. This one is installed inside the cluster, It covers the factory oil pressure gauge perfectly. All i had to do was remove the needle from the factory gauge so the new one would fit over the top.

How To Remove R33 Boot Struts
cobbadan replied to cobbadan's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
surely I cant be the only one who's boot struts have shat themselves. -
Good to hear yours is working Bunsen,, seems to work with all sorts of phones except mine,, I almost bought a desire too. I've found a few other people with the htc legend with the same problem as me ,, and haven't come across anyone with it working correctly on a legend as yet. Im in talks with contour support, so hopefully it will work at some stage.
-
I took my series 1, 33 coupe down to the strut people to see about getting the boot struts replaced or regassed and oldmate had a crack at getting them off, but stopped after a while and basically said ,, i don't want to brake anything. I told him I'd try to find out whether the struts pop off the ball joint or not. Common sense says they will just pop off with a bit of encouragement but as i said, oldmate had a crack and stopped because he thought he was about to snap the ball off the bracket. What's the verdict ? Anybody done it ? Any trick to it ?

Do any of you contour users have a htc legend by any chance ? Have you had any problems getting the mobile bluetooth viewfinder to work ?

Hey Kiwibob,, just a thought,, have ya looked into whether or not you can pull the gps data off that phone app ya showed me and sync it up with the video. Probably cant do it but just thought id throw it out there. watching your footage made me wonder whether i was talking to myself aswell. My camera arrived on the tuesday after happylaps, so i'll find out at the next one.

Count me in for willowbank for sure. Im definitely glad i went. I learned a few things, like what the hicas feels like, definitely not a comfortable feeling. I will be getting it in to get tuned asap so hopefully i wont be the slowest car on the track next time. I was the burbundy 33 that got lapped about four times. I thought it was quick before today. This was my first time on a track, so all in all im pretty happy i didnt end up in the fence, i learned a few things, gave it a bootfull, had a good feed, top stuff all round. Many thanks to the organisers & bring on the next one.

wgmg is peple who don't re-read the post they have just finished writing, to check for spelling mistakes. Im no grammar nazi, Im sure i get my there their and they're mixed up all over the shop, but peOple who obviously don't even bother reading what they've written, shit me. One of the many driving related things that happens to me every single time im on the freeway is, Im cruising along at 100 with cruise control on and in a 100 kmh speed limited vehicle. I'm slowly catching the vehicle in front, so lets say they are sitting on 95. Thats fair enough, nothing wrong with that. I change into the overtaking lane and one of the following things happens. Now keep in mind, these things happen even when there are streams of cars passing this person,, i can be sitting there for a couple o minutes waiting for a gap so i can get past aswell. not tailgating either,, ive got 50 back-seat drivers sitting behind me. 1) The second my indicator goes on, they speed up, i dont even have to move across, just the indicator is enough to scare them into acceleration. 2) I move out and start to overtake, when the nose of my coach gets up beside their drivers window they crap themselves and tromp it. 3) This one is the most annoying, they let me get almost all the way past them, then they speed up and sit with their front bumper level with my rear bumper. They just sit there and after a while of being stuck out there in the overtaking lane i just have to throw the indicator on and wait for them to wake up. Its pretty rare to pass someone on the freeway in a coach without one of these things happening.

Snake Oil Or Rust Prevention, People With Rust Experience Needed
cobbadan replied to GTRAAH's topic in General Maintenance
Are you saying this protects the whole body of the car? Im not saying that,,, the people who make and sell it are though, yeah definitely. Does it break down rust aswell? This is taken from the FAQ page of the how ERP works link above. Q. Is it worth fitting an ERPS system if my vehicle already has rust? A: Yes the principal of operation works the same for both old and new vehicles. It works to slow the rate at which the steel reacts with environmental elements which cause rust. Hence, whether your vehicle is new or already has some rust, the ERPS system will work to slow the rust reaction and extend the life of the vehicle. With older vehicles it is recommended that the ERPS system be installed some four to six weeks before any rust repairs are undertaken. This allows the system to react with or neutralise any rust currently in the vehicle. Do a bit of googleing and you will find opinions for and against, some people will say its a load of crap ,, others will swear by it. I figured, its only a couple o hundred bucks spent trying to protect a $25000 car, its worth a shot. -

module fitted to a car = yes ,, pulling voltage current out of the coolant = never heard of that before. How ERP works <-- CLICK THAT I had one fitted to my daily a few years ago, cost $200 ish from memory. got it from tint a car tintacar link its pretty small, i have a little unit about the size of a business card under my bonnet, and thats all you see. I can take some pics if you like. -
Cheers macross & jiffo via pm some other tidbits The power to the compressor is actually switching itself on and off at random which is why the coldness comes n goes. It may be an earthing issue, the lecky was saying that the ecu provides the earth to the circuit. I don't drive it very often but when i do, i'll try to see if there is any pattern to it turning on & off. will try to get it to the tuner in the next couple o weeks.

I have purchased the contour gps version for a couple of reasons. It seemed pretty widely used and recommended. It has the gps which gives a speed reading. Watched plenty of YouTube clips that seemed good. But the main selling point for me was that its not only recommended as a motorsport camera but also as an underwater camera. I do a bit of scuba diving so I just buy an underwater housing and go diving. I think the go pro has underwater housings available too. That's something to think about. Uses other than incar. Ps. it hasn't arrived yet, purchased last week. $320 delivered for the gps version and windscreen mount.

Have you considered electronic rust prevention ? -
I've had the 33 at the auto lecks all day today trying to fix an air con problem. What's happening is, it will get cold, then not cold, couple o minutes later its cold again for a little while, then not. Its been gassed and had a few things tested. What he came up with is that the problem may be in the power fc. From what i gather The climate control unit sends the air con request to the ecu and the ecu sends the word out to the relays/compressor etc All the bits after the ecu seem to be working properly, the climate control unit seems to be working properly, so he thinks it will be a problem in the ecu. Does this sound familiar to anyone, common issue ? I was planning to book it in to get the tune checked anyway so i would assume the tuner (probably EFI who was recommended by ERD) would be able to access that kind of info to see whether the FC is doing what it should. One other angle i was thinking about was, i have the stock ecu. would it be a simple case of unplug the power fc, plug in the stock ecu and see what happened with the air con. or would i lose the tune and/or cause problems.

Count me in please ,,,, looks like fun

I totally understand heaps of people would go through rbt's etc and nothing gets said. But i figure its because those guys aren't there to defect people. Thats not what they're doing that night. different night, different place, different instructions,, and your unlucky enough to come across a defect station set up on the main road from the drifts to the city, or the main road out of a powercruise event ,,, Different story The number of people who have pillar mounted gauges mean that the risk is small, but its still a risk, still a defect. I have bad luck, I dont want to risk it @ Autumn33 -- looks like a nice setup, looks good in the night shot. my gauges are too big to fit in that gap though.

I see what your saying Dan. I have asked that question myself once. The reason i personally want to know the answer is because my car does have an alarm and immobiliser, and i want to know if they are still getting stolen with alarms turned on. Maybe PM is the way to go.

Posted in the other thread , in case you haven't seen it. Posted Today, 11:04 AM i seen this car a couple of hours ago, it was heading south on the m1 around coomera. Not much good to you now but atleast ya know its still in one piece. Posted Today, 02:45 PM Did you notify police? Posted Today, 07:16 PM No. i didn't realise it was the stolen one at the time. I noticed it because it was gorgeous and i have a 33 the same colour so it caught my attention. Im a coach driver and i was driving with a load of passengers on at the time, it wasn't untill i had dropped off a couple of hours later that i was killing time lookin through the forum on my phone when i saw the thread and thought id check the plates, sure enough it was the one i saw.
