Intercooler piping..... Where should it go...
Sil8ty replied to Sil8ty's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Meggala, how yours is done know is what mine is like at the moment.. Do you think there is any advantage in going with a pipe coming up the drivers sid and along the front of the enine into the t/body that way?? -
Just re-routing my intercooler pipework. Using a large front mount, previous Japanese owner utilised std pipes on passenger side to conect to engine.. What i want to know is where the pipe, when coming up on the drivers side comes up through... up under radiator support panel? I was thinking of removing the windscreen washer bottle and bring the pipe up through there?? Can any one shed any light on this for me.....

I jad the same problem, i cleaned the switch contacts etc.. What i found the problem was, (also a probelm i had in my 180sx) is the little module (dont know the correct name) that is located near the arm rest had a dry solder joint in it... You can see it if it has (like it has been hot and the coating on the circuit board has moved away from the solder) i touched this up with a soldering iron and some fresh solder. Now it works fine...... :uh-huh:

Meggala... Even the exhaust dump side??? As i have one here tomorrow and i was going to use it to replicate a 3" Dump pipe for my 33.. Thats all... :uh-huh:

Hey dude.... (GFXman) I know the car.. Dont let the lady driver thing put you in a easy driven car.... She drives the thing hard hey... See it all the time up here ( i am from around the Berri Area too.) But it may be in good mechanical order though... Havent seen it driven much latley.... :uh-huh:

I know this has probably been spoken about before.... Any way, is the exhaust flange on the RB-20 the same as the 25?? Please let me know...
-
It is pretty easy to do. Trace the hose off the wastegate actuator, bypass the solenoid and hook straight up to the boost referance point on intercooler pipe work. This will by pass the solenoid setup.
-
Mate i would be headin to a garage with a bit more know how, as they obviously dont really know what they are on about. There is only 1 type of S-AFC!!!!!!
-
Is the RB-20 and 25 the same diagram?? If not does someone have this??
-
Has any one, by any chance, when they have had their turbo off their R-33 GTS-t (for what ever reason) to draw/trace the flange pattern of the exhaust side of the turbine housing?? :dump: As i am going to have a shot at making up a turbo dump pipe from scratch my self, as i cant really justify the cost of them from specialty shops. I can Tig weld and handy with sheet/tube steel.... Worth a shot.. :whackit:

The Z-32 one fits pretty sweet does it?? In the R-33??

Try your local NISSAN Dealer dude. They should be able to obtain one for you new!!!! Cost, god knows!!!!! Let us know though.

Out of curiosity, the other day i spoke to a few reputable importers. They seem to think that doing the GTR cam replacement in the RB-25 is not the best way to go unless to are spinning the engine to 8,500 - 9,000rpm to gain max benefits out of the cams. (According to HKS JAPAN) Have been advised to use a set of verniered cam gears on the std cam shafts will see, set up correctly around a 10-15 kW gain.. Guaranteed!!!! Opposed to a possible 5-10kws maybe sort of power with the GTR cams with no assurances that they will fit with no hassles. I understand with the GTR cams you need to machine the head to get clearance for the extra lift of the GTR cams. But no one can tell me the the GTR Solid camshaft setup will be okay with the Hydrolic cam setup of the std GTS-t ???? I may be proven wrong, but i have no proven evidence!!!

Fitted one in a VL Commondoor with an RB-20 in it and tuned it with no real dramas. You can't really compare the Haltech with the Power FC, as the P-FC will plug straight in, ease on install is a lot easier. Haltech you need to pin off specific wires, or create a new harness for the engine. Advantage with the Haltech is the cost, around $1,500.oo for the whole kit with loom, sensors etc. All you need to buy is a 2-Bar Map sensor.

Sil8ty replied to Robo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Aren't there also a clip under both headlights that hold the bumper in also?? -

Just about to start on pipe work on my intercooler setup. This has probably been discussed many of times b4..... But here goes.... I am possibly going to use 2.25" S/Steel pipe for the turbo discharge and run it across the front of the engine down to the cooler inlet on the drivers side. With the return pipe up to the engine i am going to us 2.5" S/Steel up th the T/Body with a 3" expander up to where the factory pipe is now to the T/Body. Question: Is this pipe adequate in size. I have seen people use larger tubing, but i have heard the larger you go the more lag you may possibly get. Question: Do you guys think the configuration of the piping will be okay?? As i have seen it done the other way around.... Turbo to cooler on passanger side, Return to T/Body up on the drivers, along the front of the engine. I hope this is clear enough.....

Jay95r33: Let me know how you go with the R-32 ECU on the R-33 as the R-32 ECU's are worth next to nothing opposed to Power FC. And i have friends that are able to re-map R-32 computers too.

Bottom line is, with putting the GTR cams in the RB-25DET, make any additional power than opposed to leaving std camshafts in it??
-
SO basically if i can get my hands on a set of GTR cams it will work well?? Will it be worth while, in the terms of power produced, and is there musch work involved to fit them?? ie valve springs etc. need to be changed?? You all have been a great help.
-
You see in modified engines, some people utilise the N/Asp inlet camshaft in the RB-25DET's. Is this so they can still utilise the variable cam timing?? Is there any advantage in doing this with a slightly modified engine, with your normal mods (exhaust, filter, cooler etc) ???
-
How much were they worth??
-
b2barker: Their is a S-2000 with a Vortech Supercharger and water-air intercooler fittied in QLD. It made 212kW's @ the wheels with 7psi boost. :burnout: That is not too bad!!!!!!

Hey fatz cant get a pm tp u as your inbox is full. Let me know how much they are!!!!
