  1. Have you ever used a large scale air compressor? Compared to a small one? Both run at 120psi. The small one flows 500cfm through a 1/4 hose. The large one, still at 120psi flows 1500cfm through a 1/4 inch hose. How can you possibly say the volume stays the same? As you said, boost is a measurement of restriction, not volume. Unfortunately you HAVE to factor in temp of the discharged air (compressor side). 10psi will always be 10psi, this is simply the fact of the matter. But the volume will changed. Think of two bottles. One is 500ml capacity, the other is 2L capacity. Both are filled to 10psi pressure. The pressure is the measurement of the forces acting against the enclosure. However, the 2L bottle will be holding a substantial amount of air. Therefore, a larger compressor will be able to push more VOLUME. Discuss if you disagree. Ty.
  2. .. I live my life quarter mile at a time.
  3. Nice setup proven results too.. Good for ~300rwkw from what i know? Really? Was it a gcg high flow? Haha nah all good, definately understandable. Is that on a stock capacity 2.5? How do you find the response? Both "full boost by.." and the "on-off" throttle response? Ty.
  4. Haha, yeah i heard and read the lag was an issue. They arent bad for the price though. Yeah im looking forward to fitting up a gtx3076r on my build. Should see some good numbers on a 2.8 What size housing do you have?
  5. I think that was directed to the legal side of things. I can vouch for a HKS GTRS, but they are pricey. As others have said, cant go wrong with a highflow. Never had personal experince, but a read through the rb25 dyno thread shows good promise.
  6. It was done at a dyno day with octane booster and a few extra degrees of timing thrown in. Pretty sure it was a generous dyno though. Will dig up the sheet and post it up. Haha perhaps i should, didnt mean to cause any harm in this thread
  7. Agreed, was just wanting to illustrate the point in understandable terms, for the masses.
  8. Granted, but note the word "safely". On two runs it just nudged 285rwkw on 24psi. But as said, this was not safe. So detuned. Thanks for reminding me though, I didnt realise I couldnt read
  9. Just to reinforce the IW issue.. Mine ran 20psi (full boost by 3K~) and only ever creeped to 21 - 21.5psi after 6K, but the profec brought it back. Would strongly recommened a used HKS GTRS if one can find it. Even though this thread is years old, people new to forced induction would find a lot of this useful information. Disco, your knowledge of turbos never ceases to amaze. I actually used to have a Disco potato on my Astra Sri-T, lol. Good bit of kit. Ty.
  10. 262.4rwkw @ 20psi. HKS GTRS Standard supporting mods. (details in rb25det dyno thread) Excuse: My little turbo cant flow any more safely bahaha, poor little thing. Ty.
  11. Boost should really be considered the same way as when dealing with electrical current. 50,000 volts at 0.5 amps is very different to 50,000 volts at 100 amps. ie; 10psi at 200cfm (for examples sake, stock turbo), compared to 10psi at 2000cfm (T88). Ty.
  12. RB25DET dyno thread would be your best place to look for est. power. But rough guess.. Somewhere around 160 - 180rwkw. You might be better waiting until you get the car shipped. How much money are you willing to throw at the car? Any specific goals you want to meet? Food for thought Ty.
  13. +1 as above for stock turbo. However generally the stock bottom end will take 15 - 18psi, depending on health of motor and tune, and also depending on turbo used... For a period of time, at least. Ty.
  14. R33 GTS-T S1 (Before build) Stock motor Fmic 3.5inch exhaust, HKS super dragger from cat to rear Nismo 555cc injectors walbro 255 intank pump HKS GTRS stock manifold z32 afm Apexi pod in air box CAI ducting splitfire coil packs NGK coppers gapped to 8mm Power FC + Hand controller Turbosmart dual port BOV half plumbed back Oil catch can Oil cooler. 262.4rwkw @ 20psi , boost control issue spiking to 21psi. PULP 98. Will scan dyno sheet and edit when i can find the damn thing Lasted almost 2 years at this power level, however.. It recently spun a bearing, soon to come RB28 spool stroker kit and gtx3076r .. currently getting built.
  15. I've had a few responses which have been appreciated, but I figure the more places I look and ask, the more chances I'll have of getting something
  16. Hey all! In a bit of a pickle at the moment About 6 weeks ago my previous employer decided it would be a fantastic idea to do a restructuring of said company, and unfortunately for me that meant being left with no position. I'm actively looking for employment, however I haven't received any constant work. I'm searching through all the usual means to find work, and I figure "why not give the SAU community a go?", so here I am! My location is in Sydney metro, however I will be relying on public transport as I've lost my licence until Jan next year. My highest level of education is only Year 12 (I'm only 22 years old, 23 in 18 days.. Yay party! Lol), but I do hold a Green (white) card, confined space ticket (however I think this might be a little expired; only requires a one day refresher course), and blue and yellow cards, and First Aid.. However this also requires a refresher. If anyone knows anyone or has anything that might be of assistance, it would be greatly appreciated! I do have a full resume for any serious responses, and referees can be provided upon request. I'm extremely hard working, either on my own or in a team environment.. Quick learner, and have been well suited to a variety of roles and positions. Any feedback or help would be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance! Best regards, Ty Note: I originally had this thread in the "Wasteland" section, but I figure for a bit more exposure, I would post it in here too.. Thanks for the understanding!
  17. Highly recommend this seller, excellent communication and response, and received the parts I purchased in a prompt and timely manner. Products were also in perfect condition, as described. +1 for seller! Ty
  18. ^^ Couldnt agree more. The more situations you have, the more varied the experience you'll receive. Something else I dont really quite agree with, is the speed limits that are imposed on "learning" drivers; P platers too. I got my licence in the ACT, where speed restrictions arent 'forced' onto new drivers. I think that through the learning faze, this creates a more rounded driver. Now, I know the roads in sydney and the ACT are quite different to each other.. but still, the thought is there.
  19. I think it really boils down to respect and common sense. On my P's I was lucky enough to drive a Astra SRI Turbo. You know, for the 2 years I had that car, I never once got a dirty look off someone, never once got a speeding fine (let alone a parking ticket! lol), and was always responsible. That little car was a pocket rocket too! As a comparison, a mate had a '87 corolla. Drove like a complete twat. Not to mention a death trap of a vehicle.. So choice of vehicle isnt always the "be all and end all" reason.. Years later I now drive a "reasonably" powerful Skyline, and still get the same treatment from most other drivers on the road. This is because I have respect and common sense. Hell, even when our fantastic friends in Blue drive past me I give a little nod, and then usually give one back! Now, I dont know about you guys, but how often do you see 30+ year olds (male AND female) driving like complete idiots? The worst is my cousin; on his P's, drives a Lancer with a not too loud exhaust, VERY subtle rims, constantly getting egged on by people much older than he driving high powered cars...... On their full licences. I can proudly say he doesnt fall for the bait. What kind of example are these types of people setting? I'll even go as far as to speculate, that its these same kind of people that "dont care" about their children driving certain types of vehicle. Not necessarily all of them, but atleast a vast majority. Yet again, it comes down to respect and common sense. I think being brought up a certain way has a lot to do with it. Not only are these two terms invaluable for driving on the road, but in all aspects of life. Mum and dad brought me up to be a gentleman; a gentleman with the ladies, and a gentleman on the road. Good attitude I think.. Ty.
  20. My scooter really does FTW .
  21. I'm sure the NSW government will find a way to get back any revenue they'll lose. Not a bad way to keep voters happy though.. Ty
  22. Awesome, thanks mate. Consider the Turbo Timer sold. I live in sydney too, and quakers hill is not a far trek for me. When are you available for pickup? PM me details Best regards, Ty
  23. Ahhh I see! Learn something new every day Thanks for that. Hopefully these are still for sale after I get the rest of the work done to my car (first things first lol..), in which case I'll be a happy chappy with LMGT4's
  24. If it were possible to get these professionally painted black without harming the little 'nismo' logo on the wheel spoke, I'd probably snap these up
