  1. Lol, that made me laugh. Good perspective on it though And yes, a bigger turbo wouldnt go astray seeing as how E85 isnt really accessible for me , hence why I was steering towards the GTX3582R . Money isnt necessarily an issue.. And I havent factored building the engine yet, but I'm guessing around the $3.5K - $5k mark? I'm not really sure as I've never had to build a motor though.. That larger Kando turbo that was linked from ebay could look promising.. I wonder if that would get to, or push over the 350rwkw mark on 98? Hmm..
  2. GTX3582R is on the shopping list I think; claimed spool slightly more than a 3076, and same if not better than standard GT3582R . However, the turbo is rated at 750hp, 150hp more than the GT3582R . I'm kinda hoping with a Twin Scroll manifold, and a 3 1/2 inch exhaust, running through a 1.06AR (or maybe even a 0.82AR...?) full boost could be seen by 4000 - 4500 rpm . I think that would be a good choice against the T67 if more power is the goal? Expenses aside, that is. Especially considering the reduced lag time from a GTX turbo. (Claimed, that is) Sorry to partially highjack the main point of the thread, but I thought it good to have a bit of a comparison against the T67. As I stated before, I was super keen on the T67; however the power figures (on 98) arent quite enough for what I'm after. As for the 'stupid' limit for a RWD car, I think once I complete this, I'll be at that limit the GTX3582R is supposedly good for 400rwkw+ (600hp+ in the old speak) towards its limit.. Anymore than that and its getting a little ridiculous Big fat tyres, top material, and it should be seen to be mostly useable power Has anyone had any experience with a GTX3582R that could give some first hand info to compare against the T67?
  3. Unfortunately not I worked in Melb for the second half of last year, and upto April this year. Was amazing! But, if I need my car tuned up or worked on, I'll do everything I can to get it tuned at RacePace. Anyway Was that 320 - 330rwkw using the T67? Hmm.. That still doesnt really satisfy me! Lol. I'm after slightly bigger numbers; as in my previous post, somewhere 350rwkw+ would make me smile from ear to ear . I just had a search through the Kando ebay store.. But got tired of searching by the 8th page ! Do they have something which could be a little more suitable for my outcome? ... I just had a re-read through the first post, and it says he was using a 50/50 mix of E85 to 98 . Surely the lack of the 50% of E85 couldnt rob that much power could it? Guess its back to the drawing board.. Or a Garret 3582R .. $_$ And as for the handling aspect, even now, I make my way against Evo's and Sti's . Granted, they probably aren't pushing the same sort of power, but their handling characteristics should, on paper atleast, blow me away. However thats not the case.. As a side note, you could have the most grippy, most expensive tyres, the craziest and latest suspension, with every little bit of adjustment adjusted perfectly for the track at hand, all the latest anti-roll equipment on board, chassis bracing etc ... And it might be still not be as good as a standard weight, "performance" tyres, shocks and springs, sway bar or two, R33. Throttle control, correct steering technique, optimal gear selection... I think these all make a driver. I can handly 260rwkw through no-name 225's better than my friend with an Evo 7 with some actually decent tyres. Anyway, enough tooting my own horn
  4. Thanks for that tid-bit of info! It never occured to me.. Im guessing the twin gate option would be easier, even if more expensive. battery, the car is currently used for street driving, however my thirst for more power is getting a little too much After which time, it will slowly turn into a weekend warrior/occasional strip, track car . I would love to have the E85 advantage, but as far as my knowledge goes, it is not readily available here in Sydney. As for cams, after speaking with some very respected tuners and builders, they said it wouldnt really make that much of a difference considering the current output of the motor, and the fact that the little GTRS doesnt really flow enough to make it worthwhile. However, a little of my own 'reading-up' has led me to believe that a set of Exhaust Cam Gears would be the better option..
  5. Wow, 27 pages and 6 days later, I finally finished reading this entire thread. A lot of information to take in, and the different wheel sizes, etc, and different turbo names just add to the confusion! But, I think I've made a relatively informed decision as to my plan of attack, basing a few things off other members rides. Looking at the T67, I cant really fail it at all on any large notes. Reliability and response are my only two ..... drawbacks. However, putting these into account in a Cost vs. Outcome ratio, its hard to fault the turbo. The response side of things I think can be overcome, or atleast assisted greatly with the smart use of certain parts. Herein lies my next question Firstly, let me state that I'm 110% buying the T67 (I was actually looking at going a GT3582R, or a GT3788R, but the cost has held me back) . Now, I've read a little on Twin Scroll manifolds, and am seriously contemplating including one in my setup. Should the [claimed] increase in spool time (Between 300 - 500rpm) from the Twin Scroll manifold, not bring the T67 on par with me more expensive (and, presumably, 'better' turbos) ? I currently have a GTRS, and the response is fantastic! However, the little fella's power output is somewhat.. 'old' now I'm looking for upwards of 300rwkw (340 - 360 would be nice ..) . So, the T67 looks an awesome choice. If boost can be achieved by 3500rpm - 4000rpm, I'll be over the moon for the power it can push. At the moment, I'm seeing 20psi through the GTRS at around 2800 - 3000rpm, which is pretty amazing. So I'm willing to lose a few hundred rpm response for another [almost] 100rwkw. 2 more weeks and its shopping spree time! Lol
  6. Slightly off topic, but I also consistently use BP98 [ultimate] too. On 20psi, under WOT, I get quite a high knock (35 - 55, depending on load and temp) .. The car was tuned on Melbourne BP98. Just this past weekend, I went for a longggg drive down the east coast, and filled up at just near Pembula Beach (Shell 'Premium', I have a sneaky suspicion it was only 95), but recorded an absolute max knock of 21. Thats including a WOT run up a *steep* hill in 5th gear, lol. Plus, netted an extra 50km to the tank range. IMO, there is simply too much variation in the quality and types of fuel available. Even though my tune is considered very safe, some fuels just dont agree. Kinda like a bad curry. But, as Elite Racing said, definately worth while getting tuned for the lower quality fuel. Atleast you know you'll be safe when you fill up from the last 1000L of stale fuel from the bottom of the Servo's tanks
  7. Thanks! Definately, I've referred to my previous cars with some sort of affection, but actually naming it, and then somehow managing to get everyone I know to call her 'Suzie'.. Priceless I never realised how many people name their cars, makes me feel not-so-strange lol. Satchi, created by partial typo, but works incredibly well. Uhhh, ok, not sure how to get multiple quotes in a post.. But anyway.. VNS, sorry to hear you have to leave. I've done a lot of moving about myself, for work too, funnily enough. But, finally back home for [atleast] now Hahaha, I guess thats why my old man still gives the V8 a boot every now and then! Skittles, thanks for the welcome I have the pleasure (and some times not so pleasurable time.. lol) of driving Suzie to work.. Chris at RP did an awesome job with the tune, so my fuel economy is still fantastic, considering I'm running quite high boost. Suzie... Skyline... Kinda just had a ring to it Haha, 'el negro' . Love it.
  8. Thanks mate. Haha, yeah I am! Nearly a year later and I still feel like a kid in a candy store! Its awesome. Veve.. I like it, catchy, original.. NSW, born and bred. Hows WA treating you? Yeah I definately will, always a good read here =)
  9. It never ceases to amaze me the increasing amount of stupidity and idiocy among people of all age groups, of all 'enthusiastic' passions, of all backgrounds. Burnouts at a funeral; wow thanks, now even more people will give me dirty looks as I drive my skyline. It tugs at a nerve or two when I see this sort of behaviour; sure I'm young, sure I drive a [reasonably] quick car, but I rarely (if ever) engage in such "performances". Least of all in such a deserving place of respect. 'Tsk tsk.'
  10. Hey all! I'm Tye, and this will officially be my first post, so yay for me! I'm 22, going on 23 in September, and ever since I saw a hotted up 32 GTR in 'Zoom' magazine many years ago, it became a goal to own my own skyline. After looking and searching, I finally bought 'Suzie'! Been mine almost a year now =) Shes a R33 GTS-T Series 1 (details in sig), and I've never been more happy to own a skyline. After seeing the huge amount of R33's getting around, I specifically didnt want a 'riced' up piece. She might not have the most expensive wheels, the biggest power figure, or even the fastest 1/4 mile time, but I love driving her. Shes simple, yet breath taking. Genuine km's on the clock, genuine accident-free, and meticulously looked after, I'm extremely proud to call her mine. Not being a complete n00b to the turbocharged scene, I've owned a Holden Calibra Turbo (The all wheel drive one), and a Holden Astra SRi-T. In the rear-wheel driven catergory, I also had the pleasure to drive a VN SS commy. While not being the most extravagant cars going, they gave me a good base to further my driving skills and have a bit of fun too! I've been a frequent reader of the forums since before I bought Suzie, as I always enjoyed reading the wealth of knowledge available. I finally thought to myself, 'Why not join in?', so here I am! Hopefully in the coming months I'm able to get down to some club events, and when I get the chance, become a paid member. But, for now, I'm happy just to be a part of the community! Anyway, enough rambling from me =) Best regards, Tye.
