Well done on running and completing the event mate. The Porsche is a 962 from about 1988. It dominated lemans for some time. Top speed is 400+km/h at Lemans pre chicane era. They ran over 800bhp in their day. Flat six, twin turbo, etc. There is an article in Race magazine which I have a copy of from earlier in the year. I spotted on for sale on the www.amrs.org website for $400k US.If I knew it was running I would have been there in a flash. The Monaro is the colour of the second monaro from B24 2003. Mabey they reprayed it or it is more than likely the second which was run by Brock and co which won the race in 2003. They only ran the yellow one in 2002. I knw this as I spent the weekend of both 24hr events falling over mount panorama. Best of luck on your next event

Ideal Rules For A Modern Racing Series.

stuff that!!?? Bit of passion there mate? It's all good. All racing is paritised, with the lesser degree being SS. IP is heavily paritised as you have mentioned primary against AWD turbo's and this is what you want to fix. They has to be parity, detailed rules and reg's and control if you want to run a series, any series. If want a basic check on power and that's it, stick to a track days or a supersprints but it won't work in circuit racing. I thought this was about running a new series, if so you can't just do some basic checks and off you go as there is much more to it.It will not work. I don't mind the IP reg's as they are very similar to Marque sports but Marque sports cater to sports cars not so called family cars, sedans and don't allow engine swaps along with some other variations. Well I aggree now that the ECU idea will not work if there are varied makes in the field. If there was a one make/model series of say GTR's for group one and GTSt/GTT for group two the control reg's I mentioned in an earlier post it would work and save costs. -
That was a great read Roy. I went to LM 2004 and made it past security to mulsanne straight for some unbelievable moments. And its on video.. Thanks

Gald to see you are coming around regarding power limitations. I'm not 100% but I'm lead to believe that the use of restictors actually add the cost of the racing due to the effect on the power band. It seems to work in complete contrast to the orginal gearbox and diff settings. Frustrating. Why spend vast amounts of money to build a weapon then block the hole up!! It really is something to move away from. At least with the bov, fuel control there would one set supplier, tagged, logged, off you go and work within some decent peramiters. A control computer will also save on development costs. i'm basing this off the nissan which is a program which improves as time goes by. No sitting on dyno's blasting $$ away all day. It's an idea to balance out the tuning houses and everyday ameteur racer have a good day out with a chance of a result. Tyre control via width is to improve the racing. Sure the GTR,wrx gets away for the first few laps then the GTS/GTT,supra comes back in the last few laps to provide a close finish if they can get past that pesky NSX. The parity I came up with is a pliable model which can be molded to provide close racing at a reasonable cost. Are we talking about establishing a new series based around running Skylines and everyone else has to fit in ,or try and fit in with existing series? I'm for option 1 as we are going to face frustration and unnessessary expense with option 2. This is my opinion and may not be right but my point of view and what I would like to see. -

OK here are some links which may help. These are from the production car championship. http://www.pcaa.com.au/modules.php?name=Do..._op=getit&lid=3 http://www.pcaa.com.au/modules.php?name=Do..._op=getit&lid=1 http://www.pcaa.com.au/modules.php?name=Do..._op=getit&lid=2 This is http://www.marquesports.com/ which is import friendly. I talked to the president last year who was open to running GTST's in the series. This could be a good platform. Cheers -
I used to race karts a few years ago. If you are self employed contracting in a physical trade be careful. I broke my hand racing and was out of work for 8 weeks. So it was indirectly very expensive. I think you need to set a budget for the year and stick to it. Set up:$5500-$7500 for kart, trailer, suit, wet's,slicks, tools, license, spare engine depending on class. Running for the year:Anywhere from $1000 up. You could spend $1000 testing and practice and $1000 on select events for the year depending on what you are after. Another option is running in endurance series. The endurance association lease karts to teams who want to arrive and drive. I thinks it starts around $600 for the team to run in a 6 hr race so it can be cost effective( great idea for skylines australia punters). Hope it helps a bit

My two bob on for parity. Original engine spec's Instead of using restictors limit boost. Tyre width based on drivetrain. Diameter free Power to weight ballast. Eg: GTST- 1.5bar, 10"/12", 1200kg GTR- 1.0bar, 9"/9", 1320kg WRX-1.1bar, 8"/8", 1280kg RX-7-0.8bar, 5"/5",1500kg!!! just kidding .you get the picture. Control ecu Exhaust ; low mounts only, free exhaust after turbo. Exit from under the sill perfect. Internal wastegate only Plenum free Intercooler free Fuel pump and reg free Injectors: increase of 30% over stock. Cam and lifters free Gearbox: no sequential or dog boxes Diff: free Brakes: free Suspension: free.must use std link points Bushes free Control Tyres. still out on this Wings ok but with restrictions so aero is not a major point. Carbon, fibreglass, kevlar panels ok Plexiglass, persex ok except windscreen Metal removal ok with restrictions Widen by 50mm overall ok I have taken 2b marque sports regs with some variation to suit what everyone whats to see on this site. Imports, 4wd and turbo's having a fair go. cheers Steve -
