Thanks guys, appreciate the kind words. I actually gave her a bit of love this afternoon, wanted to test a few different methods and product combinations. Happy as she still gave me some rewarding bayside blue reflections in return. Cheers. -

Diy Wheel Respray - Tips Please!

Are you positive it is under clear? I suggest you try autosol metal polish either by hand or with a mothers powerball attached to a drill. Hopefully you are surprised with the results. -

Mask the lip. When I paint rims I just lightly scuff the surface with fine grade wet and dry and then spray the required coats. If your using a fine grade and mask up the lip, you should be fine. -

You're right. Some of the seats I saw while searching for my car were torn to shreads on the bolster, foam missing - etc. And this was at ~50,000 KM on the clock. Heres the seat in my GTR at ~85,000 KM. -
Hi Everyone, Just completed headlight restoration on an Integra Type R and thought I'd share the results. You can see from the before pictures what sort of condition they were in prior to restoration. The process in short - 1) Wet sand - 1200 / 2000 grit 2) Compound - Meguiars M105 (DA buffer) 3) Polish - Meguiars M205 (DA buffer) 4) Seal - Meguiars headlight protectant If done correctly, as per the photos - you should end up with a 'like new' crystal clear finish with no sanding marks - etc. The 4th step is essential to stop the yellow from reoccurring. Whenever I polish - I also run another layer of wax / protectant on the headlights as well to prevent this. Enjoy. 1) BEFORE - 1) AFTER - 2) BEFORE - 2) AFTER - 3) BEFORE - 3) AFTER -

FYI - GTT / GTR headlight rubber on the top are different.

Part 10 - Scratch and Swirl Removal - As requested, a quick tutorial on what products to use for effective scratch and swirl removal. Below are a few products from my collection - depending on the condition of your paint and its requirements, one or a combination should give you the result you are after. For optimal results, recommend that you first clay the surface so its smooth as glass and apply products with DA / random oribital polisher. Meguiars M105 Ultra Cut Compound - Meguiars most abrasive compound, recommend followed by M205 ultra finishing polish for best results. In most cases, this combo will not be required unless you have a very neglected finish with not only swirls requiring removal, but a noticeable quantity of heavy scratches, defects and paint fade evident as well. Meguiars Ultimate Compound - Abrasive compound, recommend this be followed by a polish such as ultimate polish and wax such as ultimate wax / nxt gen tech wax 2.0. Effective for heavy swirls and holograms / trails left from the incorrect use of a rotary buffer. Also effective for light - moderate scratch removal / paint fade. Meguiars Ultimate Polish - Recommend followed by wax such as Ultimate wax / nxt gen tech wax 2.0. Effective for removal of light swirling and holograms. Meguiars Colour X / Swirl X - Both can be effectively used as a quicker 1 step solution for swirl removal. Effective for light swirling and holograms. Not very agressive, so great if your on a budget / your paint is already in good condition and just requires a simple solution for swirl removal / wax. Meguiars Scratch X - Less abrasive than meguiars other compounds, great to use if there are light scratches / swirls in an isolated area. A few small tips documented on one of the previous pages to assist you with scratch and swirl prevention - Hope this helps. -

Thanks guys, appreciate it. Every GTR Deserves her own detailing shelf. Just because. -
Great to hear you're on the right track to getting it all sorted. Cheers.

Sealing is a must otherwise yellowing will reoccur, with a vengeance. You have stripped the light of its oxidisation, so naturally its aesthetics and clarity have improved. However as a result, whatever was remaining of the UV coating has also been removed. Protectant such as the Meguiars headlight protectant will prevent this for you. I believe its not an 'off the shelf' product in Australia, so personally, I import it from the US. On some other cars I have also previously clear coated using 3M heat proof clear with great results. From memory, replacements directly from Nissan - - Rear diffuser is ~8k - Front diffuser is ~1.2k

At work at the moment but from memory - consult error 21 is ignition, most likely coil packs? PM sent regarding mechanic who has both, the knowledge and the parts readily available. Cheers. Just thinking - has anything been tried so far in an attempt to fix? Let me know if you need a hand.

Hi mate, Colour, finish and texture are spot on from all angles. With Bayside Blue being a triple layer pearl, I understand (and shared) your colour match concerns. The panel shop I went to even brought in a paint chemist to ensure the colour was 100%. PM sent with further details. Cheers. -
^ Nice pics mate, thanks for sharing. I'm a fan of colour coding the upper lip, but not the diffuser. As per below -
