My Bayside Blue R34 Vspec Gtr - Finally Detailed
iwanta34gtr replied to iwanta34gtr's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Hey mate, Cheers. I like the way the plates sit. With my jap cars, I always just get a bit of clear hose and cut it to size so it extends it out a little bit and doesnt hit or scratch the bumper. And I previously refinished the front number plate bracket on the GTR in satin black. SO dont mind if its on show. -

Hi All, Well this thread has turned in to a bit of a detailing diary. Hopefully its a good read and people can grab helpful info out of it. Part 3 - - New front and rear GTR badges have arrived - Polishing and refitting of front vspec diffuser My front diffuser has recently been professionally refinished in a semi gloss black. After allowing a few weeks for the paint to harden, today I applied a coat of Meguiars Ultimate Polish followed by a coat of Meguiars Ultimate Wax. Application was done by hand with Meguiars foam applicators and removed with microfibre towels. Also, my replacement new genuine Nissan GTR front and rear badges have arrived. I have taken a close up of old compared to new. Hoping to get them on to the car some time this weekend and will take better pics. Its the small things which make all the difference. Cheers. -
^ Looks tops mate. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks mate, she was worth the wait. -
Just checked my records from my old GTS-T, they are the right part numbers above. Come to think of it, also do the standard checks. Check your brake / clutch fluid is filled to max. If not, I use Castrol Response Super DOT 4. Check power steering fluid filled to max. If not, I use the generic Castrol Power Steering fluid in the black bottle that suits the DEX ATF standard. Check air filter. If you need a replacement, use K&N, or if you are on a budget - Ryco A360 will do fine (from supercheap). Check radiator fluid - I use Tectaloy Performance 100. Obviously, DO NOT OVER FILL. I'm also in the area, look forward to seeing you around.

Hi mate, Congrats on your purchase, car looks fantastic. I use Royal Purple 10W-40. If you are on a budget, the Nulon 10W-40 fully synthetic will also do what you need. Can get it from Supercheap for approx $60 for 6 litres. I use genuine Nissan oil filters, however the Ryco Z145A oil filter from super cheap will do fine. i suggest you also do your fuel filter while you're at it. From memory you use a Ryco Z201 for this. Dont quote me on the part numbers, its been over a year since I had my R33 GTS-T. Check the Ryco filter book while you're at Supercheap / Repco, but pretty certain they are the ones you need. Cheers.

Thanks mate. I just unbolted it then used standard car wash and a soft sponge to scrub it. Had to be careful that the bits of gravel that naturally get stuck to it - didnt come loose and scratch it up. So keep an eye out for this. I didnt remove the brackets from the actual diffuser as they are riveted on and the damage on them was purely surface rust / cosmetic. I just spent ages masking up everything except the brackets with 3M tape and newspaper for spraying. I was almost going to shoot the carbon with some 3M heat proof clear I have laying in my garage, but went against it on the day - its not a part that you really see anyway so didnt feel it was too necessary. -

Hey mate, I've used it on probably 6 or 7 cars now with good results. I do polish the glass first with the extreme clean product. And when I apply the actual rain X, I do two layers to ensure complete coverage and make sure I remove all of it. (I also use microfibre cloths, which incase you couldnt tell - are one of my favourite things). -
+1 for pics. Are the marks through the paint? Or could they be buffed out?

^ Looks amazing mate, thanks for sharing. Also, love the genuine Nismo side / rear skirts and your plates too.

Hi mate, Appreciate the kind words. Regarding SFHC, I believe that was a paint feature from Nissan - "Super Fine Hard Coat". Not sure if it was a factory option of paint protection or certain colours had this feature. From the pics I obtained of her in Japan, she already had the sticker on previously, and you could still see the rough outline of where the sticker was before I polished the glass. So felt right putting it back on. (And easy to get the exact position for this one too). -

Thanks mate. Will need you see you again soon so you can meet her in person after the make over. Yep, really thin paint in the boot so definately no compound in there. Cant wait to get in to the engine bay piece. I've got all the detailing components I need. 1) Blood 2) Sweat 3) Tears. -

Thanks mate, wish I had the front diffuser on for the other above photo too, would have completed it. They were just happy snaps after the detailing process but actually came out pretty good.

Hi mate, cheers for the kind words. Yep, rear diffuser is made of a massive piece of dry carbon. -
^ Will take some better pics when its not so sunny here in Sydney, I just polished her so its pretty hard to look at her in the sun, or take photos. More close up pics in the detailing section - http://www.skylinesa...nally-detailed/

Hi All, Part 2. - Glass polished and application of brand new genuine Nissan stickers - Restoration of all rear diffuser brackets Glass polishing was performed with Rain-X Xtreme Clean, followed by a standard application of Rain-X Original. Application and removal of both products was done using microfibre towels. Also applied brand new genuine Nissan rear quarter and rear window stickers I ordered directly from Nissan. Exact sticker placement measurements were obtained from Ant in this thread - http://www.skylinesa...v-cut-security/ (Thanks again mate). Diffuser brackets were restored using 800 / 1200 / 2000 grit wet and dry, followed by 5 light coats of generic flat black high temperature paint. Also refinished the black covers which sit on the bottom of the number plate brackets. Cheers. -
Sexy bonnet on her too mate, Love it.
