Hi Every1, I was at Xtreme Motorsports today and checked out a pearl white vspec II Nur. Number plates - "2 HYPO". I have a question, do Nur's have a gold build plate? I was under the impression that they are gold, but the build plate on this one is silver. The sales people were saying it was a Nur. I didnt want to raise the question, but im wondering if it is actually a Nur. It did have the gold engine covers and a Nur badge on it. But if its a nur, the build plate Im sure should be gold. I forgot to get the VIN so cannot run it through FAST. The car is priced between $75,000 - $80,000. If anyone can please confirm the Nur build plate colour (silver / gold) that would give me a good starting point. Thanx.

Fantastic, thats a great starting point. Now, do you have a friend or access to a spare cluster that you can plug in to verify this? If it is the cluster, you can either obviously replace the cluster or you can try and repair the existing tacho - standard soldering iron, flux and and some solder will do the trick. Just retouch all of the joints for it. And for the future, maybe extend your wires and plant them back behind the centre stereo / air con vents - plenty of room behind there.

Maybe this ECU pinout diagram wil help you ensure you checked the correct wires - http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/366040-shift-light-help/ I had a similar issue with my R33, mine ended up being a dry joint on the back of the cluster itself. Years of 'bumpy roads' shook it loose. Mine would come in and out aswell. But your issue may be different if its not showing on the AVC-R either? Unless they are somehow connected? I reflowed the back of my cluster with a rework station and flux to ensure all the joints were stable. if yoru not confident with this, you could always just use a soldering iron.

Not picking a side as its hard to say what the car was actually like without inspecting it before the issue. However Im sure I could blow an engine out of pure negligence in less than 1/4 of that time frame. Actually, one afternoon could do it. Difference is, if that was the case - I wouldnt expect a dealer to cover the result of my actions.
