[Closed] Borg Warner Efr Series Turbos
Mick_o replied to Lithium's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Obviously things like engine compression, cam choice/settings, exhaust size etc would play a part in the response. But lets say a 2.8L (because building a 2.7L is silly lol) would probably be around 2-300rpm laggier worst case scenario i would think ? -

LOL @ this guy trying to get all personal! Whatever works for ya baldie! Cant argue with facts so trying to get all personal to take the attention away from your stupidity huh? All i know is you cant build a car for shit Mr 110kw @ 4000 rpm from a 2.8L stroker on -5's! Nice result man you made half the power of piggies car at those revs and fell 100kw short up top! I hope E85 nets ya 400kw at best mate! Your car is a nugget man so move on! Why ever you feel the need to come in this thread arguing about these turbos vs your soggy turd sandwich with blokes that have gone away from 5s to an EFR is beyond me... Who cares if your car is making a claimed 19 psi at 3680rpm or whatever dribble you are claiming! You probably had the handbrake on at the time? Or were you too busy looking at your laptop to see the lil red light handbrake light on on ya dash?! I bet the car still ain't moving at 3700rpm is it?! I bet it still needs another 1000rpm before it kicks you up the ass like every other twins setup that has been done a million times before you does?! I never said HPA courses weren't good! So tell me if they are followed by all major shops here in Oz why was it your tuner couldn't optimise your setup 1st attempt? But then you watched a few vids online and went for a drive with your laptop and "made your car far better"? Those holes in that airbox must really of helped huh? ? Keep the thread on track and stop arguing with people's experiences with EFR's trying to derail this thread with ya twin turbo bollocks! -

Who gives a f**k if it "doesn't impress you" you post ALOT of junk and you clearly dont know shit! Comments to harris racing like "a 3" exhaust is fine because you have external wastegates" seriously dude REALLY LOL??? Or comments like "i dont need an intercooler because i will be running E85" that is seriously rookie shit! Arguing with a bloke like you who is narrow minded and thinks he knows it all but doesn't know what he is on about is pointless! It "belts em everywhere" because it responds to throttle inputs faster, it comes on to boost faster, its power delivery is smoother, has a broader power and torque band, it is easier and better to drive than the twins because it has removed all the factory restrictions/packaging issues? Whats not to understand man? This bloke has experienced BOTH setups but his input doesn't count for anything? Just to correct you its a single running TWIN external gates. But i dont know what twin wastegates that control boost have anything to do with just how well these turbos perform??? I know you have an online street tuna certificate but you are seriously the tuna John West rejects that makes John West the best! -

Yes thats on a 2L emo mate. The thing with these EFR's is (yes im repeating myself) but the dynosheet really does these things NO JUSTICE whatsoever! I guarantee if you threw an EFR on your car and drove it before you looked at the dynosheet you wouldn't care what was on that sheet cos you'd already won! These things literally respond to throttle input like an N/A its honestly the only way i can describe it. -

Where are you getting this info Roy lol? A 7670 will punch holes in a GTX & GT3076! Ive never heard of an GT's going 410kw?350-360kw max. Yeah the GTX will blow 400kw but its ALOT laggier! Whats this its "only transient and response" its better? Transient response on the track and on the street is king! SAU is being a turd. If it lets me i will load a GTX3076 vs 7670 result for you. Both are T3 .82/.83 results on an evo. -

Actually looks cleaner to me.... Lets see how much of your "stock airbox" is left? Bet it looks like swiss cheese ? Plus i bet his engine bay is alot cooler and easier to work on than yours ? Pros and cons for everything i guess... Look stock go slow... Look modded go fast.... Its an individual preference and i respect that fact. End of the Day you trying to make your car go fast? Im gunna bet the answer is yes. Reality is regardless of what your engine bay looks like if the PO PO is gunna pull you over they aren't gunna start looking for mods. They will just send you over the pits and you will be screwed just like the other blokes with the faster "non stock" looking engine bays. -

How about you post up your dyno sheet of your 5's and a built 2.8L and Brett can post his sheet of his 8374 on a stock 2.6L and everyone can see how the lil 2.6L belts you by over 100kw everywhere from 4000rpm to 8000rpm? Now thats ACTUAL data! ? -

Such a stout result Tom! That was literally the result i had envisaged for my car when/if i ever build my 2.3L. I will have mivec on my side so be interesting to see how that helps. What cams you running mate? You're 9.5:1 compression ratio too? -

Nice work Tommy! Shes gunna be a weapon! Look forward to seeing the graph on porn juice! Benny is great tuner! -
Just noticed you are T3. Going T4 will obviously mean new manifold and gates...
-
Big difference between 600 or 700hp? I understand this came for a good price but obviously you aren't happy with it and the car has been built around this turbo now (exhaust cooler pipes etc) if 600 and a bit is your goal and you like response go a 6266 with a 1.0 rear. Your motor will love the larger turbine it will feel nicer down low off boost and it will make 600-650hp quite easily! Are you on stock capacity? If so a .84 wont be too bad. But obviously you are gunna be leaning pretty hard on a stock motor chasing those numbers. If your motor goes bang would you stay 2.6 or would you go stroker? If yes to stroker go the 1.0 if happy with 2.6 go .84
-
^^^What he said! You will turn it into a turd mate. Whats your power goal? Pick the right size turbo for your application. If you are going E85 go a size smaller even for killer response!
-
FYP brah
-
Needs 100hp more for that

Yeah but not as much as 600cc and 2 cylinders will help Standard motor is 8.8:1 i believe his motor is 9-9.5:1. -

Friend of mine just tuned his Evo 7 with a 7670 with 1.05 turbine. Motor is a Built high comp 2L. His clutch started slipping so he capped it at 380kw with 27psi by 3900 & was making around 570nm of torque by 4400 (from memory) he said the car drove like a stock turbo evo on the road. -
