  1. OK confirmed that the developer of this is not supporting Consult immediately. But good news the developer has a V36 Skyline!.. And is looking into adding support for Consult after the initial release is complete. And it is all open source. So again can be opened up for anyone else to experiment and extract data and create something awesome.
  2. Good Point, Was going off what was in the Infiniti G37 in the states from myG37.com Guessing the G37 in states have a different connector?... http://home.exetel.com.au/nds/NDSII/index.php?content=supportedcars There are quite a few that have an ODB-II connector. Great thing about this being open source is that can map to any interface codes and be customised accordingly.
  3. http://bollen.us/NachosTikiWiki/tiki-read_article.php?articleId=14 Useful links for different blogs that have done this stuff before.
  4. This is a wiki from a guy with a 370Z has a lot of information about info he has got out of the Z http://bollen.us/NachosTikiWiki/tiki-index.php?page=2009+Nissan+370Z+CAN-to-USB+Hardware+and+Software
  5. Check this out... http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/stanleyhuang/freematics-vehicle-telematics-with-open-source-har The OBD-II is already available, the kickstarter project is to raise money for the software. If you have minimal coding experience you could purchase the dongle right away and try it out. The goal is to build an Apple ios app that will.. Our goal is to implement following features in the App: Loading history data stored in Freematics OBD-II Adapter Illustrating collected data into more professional and fancy charts Video logging in sync with data logging Video replay with overlaid data Lap timer Car performance benchmarking and comparison Re-programming / updating firmware for Freematics OBD-II Adapter

  7. Guys check this out and please support if your interested. All the current OBD-II data loggers and tools are closed source, meaning you can't add features you want and are slaved to any single product. Its time to open it up and let innovation get into the market place through open source hardware. Potential here to build an open source knowledge base of information and bring tech to our cars that you would normally only see in a brand new GTR or in your favourite computer racing sim. Check it out. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/stanleyhuang/freematics-vehicle-telematics-with-open-source-har
  8. I have 19" Enkei RP03's on my 370GT they were off a 350GT in the showroom sand looked pretty sweet, filled nicely and just slipped under the guard, 9.5" on the back 8.5" fronts I think.
  9. Legend I hate the damn thing cutting out when anyone rings!..
  10. Old post but I just went from Kumho to Continental ContiSport 5P's for the rears on my 370 GT, and oh my god the difference is massive.... Traction control barely has to kick in any more when you give it the beans from a standing start, and you can feel the increased grip in the corners. Very very pleased, bank balance is alot poorer... $380 each from St George... Now I'm looking at some new fronts, St George have some Hancook designed carbon series for the fronts that are a hard compound tire for $100 a piece... But after my experience with the rears i'm tempted to up the anti a little this time but the bank balance is pinching hard. Has anyone used the carbon series tires? I have just worn through a pair of Falkens in a year and $30k, that were about $200 each and pretty useless, huge road noise too, not too sure I want to strecth up to $300 for Conti's on the front... Also some crazy ass hi tech looking Nitto's for $230... Anyone chime in with some advice...
  11. Loving google chromes built in translate feature... Found the actual Jap install instructions. http://minkara.carview.co.jp/en/userid/859533/car/722285/1337084/note.aspx Found the install that the Jap guys are doing, some put it in the boot, others go for the space under the arm rest and yep hook straight into the aux socket from behind, some ive seen even rewire the component plugs in the center console to the av input on their new tv tuner.
  12. OK In the old saying of 'Give a man a fish.... he'll feed himself for a day.... Teach a man to fish... ' To translate any menu, and have an iphone, download the app camDictionary. GO to the camera screen and Take a photo of any screen you want to transalte (easier at night), wait for it to focus and tap the camera icon, a pause will overlay the screen for a second. From here click and drag your finger over the text you want to translate, a little magnifier will pop up and a red line across the text you want to translate. So using this app, i've added some screen shots of what to do to clear your auto screen off. 1. Press Settings 2. Select the menu item Image Quality - Screen Off 3. Select Screen Off You will have now disabled the automatic screen off and it will switch back to lovely pictures of Japanese Maps... or Stay on the radio or display screen. I did the same thing on the weekend and only figured this out, over lunch today playing with my new app. Makes things so much easier when you can just point and read the damn menus on your phone, without having to dig up the damn manuals all the time...
  13. The beep, is your Sat Nav recalculating, your Route as it thinks its trying to get you to a destination. I found this out the other day. Sleep mode i've switched on too today, without realizing exactly how, one good thing is now though it doesn't switch back to the SAT NAV map every time I use the hands free phone. try looking at my diagnostic post today and reset your SAT Nav stuff... Or download this app camDictionary if you have an iPhone and try and find the sleep mode setting in the menu, to get rid of the beep you need to clear the Sat Nav route. I'm maybe going to try just pulling out the GPS sensor, as when I pulled the TV Unit out the boot, when I pres Aux/TV I now only get Aux channel not TV1/TV2 which is a bit cleaner/better as TV tuner is useless over here. I was thinking if you did the same with the GPS it may disable Sat Nav too...
  14. This is on a 2007 V36 370GT Skyline. with HDD Sat Nav... Now I don't know a word of japanese. But for $1.99 there is a great little app on the iphone called camDictionary that will read your display and translate it!.. Pain and slow but useful to browse around your system beyond whats been translated. Some of this maybe useful, most of this is not but interesting to see what is in the dealer diagnostic menus. Maybe very useful for anyone doing speaker upgrades to use the tone test, or adjust check any faulty components, or change some settings, wipe your music off the car etc.... Enter Diagnostic Mode... Start the engine, (or turn on the System, as you may be a while, better have the engine running to keep the battery on), Turn the audio system off by pressing the volume button. (Audio off is displayed). Now press the settings button on the main control panel with the Dial, this is on the left side of the wheel selector, third big button closest to the down arrow on the selector wheel. Press and hold this button, now spin the Volume wheel 20 clicks or so either way and a menu will come up. The Diagnostic Menu. There are two options, first is a simple self diagnostic test that shows a graphic of whats connected Takes you to the detailed menu where you can change settings and see detail diagnostics. The menu has 16 items listed in it and has some sub menus.. The following list is a translation of those menu items and what they do. 1. Screen Diagnostic 1. Colour Test 2. Grey Scale test 3. Touch Screen test i.Points on screen ii.Touch Screen and see response OK 2. Diagnose Vehicle Signals 1. Speed Sensor 2. Parking Brake 3. Wrignt -- (dont ask.. no idea) 4. Ignition 5. Reverse 3. Speaker Diagnostics... Once you press this theres two options, if you keep pressing start it will cycle through the speakers 1. Start - press to cycle speakers 2. Stop - 4. Air Conditioning Diagnostic - did nothing for me but return a blank screen like system was off press back to get out. 5. Navigation --- So USELESS 1.Angle Adjustment - (useless ... a. Left of the times b. Right of the times c. set 2.Adjust the distance a. Adjust width of the distance 6. Error History Display Pretty useless also shows where you were on sat nave when errors happened 7. After the reset at the same seat watch Yes some translations are just non sensical rubbish..... 8. Vehicle CAN Diagnostic Support Monitoring Takes you thorugh all the CAN components connected and their status, scroll down to see more stuff. 9. AV Communications Monitoring More AV stuff, pretty hard to translate 10.Handsfree Carwings 1.Handsfree ear volume adjustment 2.Makes freaky noises/// 3.Version View 4.Provider Settings (needs code to unlock) (you hope there some magical settings in here but I doubt it... 5.enter phone number?? 6.enter phone number?? 9.Remote Assitance on/off 10.Erase Memory - (Maybe useful if youve done something and cant get rid of it) yes/no default no 11.ETC Unit 1.Error History 2.Clear Error History 12.Camera Control Unit 1.Continued eye visibility - (shows sensor readings of cameras and dynamic headlights) 1.Steering Angle sensor (show if on/off) turn wheel = on 2.Reverse Signal 3.Car universal sensor 4.Side view monitor 2. Set reverse safe collision distance (adjust your reversing camera overlay) 3. Set side safe collision distance (adjust your side camera overlay) 13.Bluetooth 1. Change vehicle passkey 2. Change Bluetooth name 14.Clear Unit Connection History Clear the Unit connection history and error history Yes/NO default = No 15. Safety Universal Rolling Message ON/OFF 16. Wipe HDD, Clear All music, Navigation Data, and ETC data Yes/No default = No. Hopefully something useful in here for some one, enjoy...
  15. Does your tuner just play through the AUX input or had they spliced it in differently with the wiring from the old Jap HDTV Tuner.?
  16. Yep and all the units have CAN controllers to report if there working or not, and centralized everything in the AV Unit. Unlike the non bose, base units. Check out the US manual and you can see the sort of complexity your dealing with... http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/G37/Coupe/2009/AV.pdf Here's a fun thing to look at. Turn the car on, turn your audio off, press and hold settings button (bottom left, big button) then spin the volume control. Then practice your Japanese, i'll try and get my friend to translate it and put some screen dumps up. Definitely useful if you start splicing stuff into the car and you want to make sure it still works. It will bring up the diagnostic screen and show you whats connected. I pulled the TV unit out the other day to have a look inside to see what chips were on it, some TV tuner micro chip boards follow a standard plug and play design for the tuner. No luck, recognized half the chips on the mother board, but need to know the pinouts are on the connection, If i had the Japanese manual for the actual car then i could get somewhere, But does show up clear as day on the diagnostic screen that it is not plugged and simplifies the TV/AUX button so it just goes to AUX and you don't have useless fuzzy TV screen stuff. And there is tons of room in the boot back there to fit something in there... I've seen lots of posts in the states with guys porting CarPC's in there and using Centrafuse, splicing into the unit either with the reverse cam or GVIF boards and then hooking into the OEM touch screen or adding an overlay over the top. But yes definitely in the $3k territory plus fitting.
  17. Found full wiring diagrams for G37 in english and service manuals, the 2009 US model is fairly similar. Av.pdf details AV system. http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/G37/Coupe/
  18. If anyone did get this far, try using this program to search the files on the HDD for any of the english phrases in the menus. http://vedit.software.informer.com/
  19. I came across this site and gave me a list of the HDD contents of a similar Xanavi system. I've got used to the system in my 370GT but its always good to have a tinker if you dare. Not sure I fancy pulling the HDD out, but I do think that Canadian cluster for the dash maybe worthwhile.. http://www.gtrlife.com/forums/topic/23304-compactflash-music-player-music-box-limitation/page__st__40 HDD is password protected but the password appears to be the phone number for Xanavi in Japan. They got this far. The system is based on PYTHON POSIX standard, most likely from the QNX derived OS and yes the OS is very small, but the main data will likely still be in the HDD. If you have the will it looks like the system partition has the language and language audio files for the car compressed into a DAT file. If your friend dumped the harddrive you should be able to browse it, the only hope of doing anything from here would be to HEX edit the file and look for the japanese UNICODE characters and map them to English.. Or from here try hacking together files from another similar car system. I saw a post from Chris saying he had found a similar system on a Nissan in OZ. Not sure I would want to brick my HDD and possibly not be able to start the motor, but thought I would share the information I found if others dare.
  20. I'm in Sydney, I'll have to check the offsets be looking for $2k plus shipping
  21. I have some very nice Enkei RP03's http://www.discountwheelsource.com/wheel/wheel-brand-enkei/wheel-model-rp03/wheel-color-hyper-silver/wheel-style-five-spoke Been having some dramas getting them to fit on my V36, they came form V35. Offsets after further research are very different. May be for sale unless a little extra negative camber can get them to slip under the wheel arches better on the rears..
  22. Chilll, mate I want saying that you would do that, just wondering what the coppers would do if you flew past them and they got no reading, I assume they would tear your motor apart looking for something. Agree to remove the casual 10-15km annoyance I guess its not so noticable to the naked eye, still would they get a reading?, would they pull you just because they were suspicious of no reading?...
  23. I think the furthest I would be able to go with My knowledge with this would be to hex edit the hard drive look for the ASCII Character sets and change them from JAP to ENGLISH text. My mate lived in Japan for 5 years and was a god send the other day, bascialy allot of the words on the menus are actually english but in japanese symbols. So if you could find the standard ASCII text characters and swap them this may help. These are the ones that are less squiglly, those other ones are nouns. Given the amount of time to analyse, i'll leave it to the russians, cost me a serious number of favours to get one of my devs to look at it, in the mean time, I got a bit over excited and just order A complete master unit assembly from the US. From what I can see from the connections and parts should work. Without having to purchase too many more parts. Hoping for. English menus Music Box in English with 3000 song ripping... (currently only lets me do 6 CD's) Voice Control Bluetooth SAT NAV (yes no maps yet so useless, but you need this unit for the rest of teh stuff, but if they do ever emerge adding going to be easier, Infiniti M37 will be released in Aus next year same car) Quality audio, i have the fm hack but the quality sucks Hook in reversing and side camera, this may need to be a video hack as I cant see this feature on any US cars... Not bad for $200... for an expensive paper weight if it doesn't play nice, but then would have theHDD to play with and compare file structure to the JAP and can look at plan B.. Worried the screen and buttons won't play nice... and i'll need to order them too... What the odds Chris?
  24. So your cruising at a 160 and coppers with there radar gun ready to chase, and they see what? 0kph.... Give your car the full going over find your LIDAR blocker and give you 20pts on your license, court appearance and one mother of a fine. Like to see the parking sensor trick pull off if you were blatantly speeding.... Round Sydney theres not many places that I would exceed the speed limit, I regularly feel like chucking rocks at anyone doing 70 past my house which is a 50 zone, drives me insane wankers that speed up my road, given its the one where that sophie chick was run down twice, and the dicks speed up teh road, just to stop at the round about 30m past my house... But on any dual carriageway double lane road the limits suck, 90 wtf.... I'll go with the other boys here and see let them speed past check for the coppers then run them down... WOuld love to do a ROad trip round Australia, pack a CB radio, and get a staggered convoy and be able to radio out to each other to know when the coast is clear out on the open roads, in to deep back country NSW like out to Broken Hill and back.
  25. Ahhh right, so that explains it the V36 has a bit more style, considring i swear I had never seen one of these cars on the road anywhere, in the last two weeks I've seen them all over the place, no V36's yet but plenty of V35's... Completetly agree on the Coppers, i got pulled after 3 days with this car doing 93km down Burnt bridge creek, I live near buy and swearin my 4x4 I think I normally cruise down there at at least 100, as its a 3 lane bypass, neevr had a copper even blink. I was driving to teh speed limit and never even notice her creep past 90 on my way home, see the lights in the rear view mirroe tunr to my mate and say what does he want. 3point and $216 fine,... wouldnt nudge me to 89km and give a 1 point slap,i mean it was dark, no one around, empty road, no danger to anyone, not driving irrseponsibly. I thne finally looked up the speeding rules for NSW, you lose your license for 45km over... WTF... In Uk everyonedrives min at 80mph on the motorway, upto 90mph average, you would need to be doing 160km to lose your license and be driving very dangerously... Even coppers drive at either 60mph or 90mph so they don't casue traffic jams as noone can over take them. max limit needs to be upped to ate least 130km on motorways. Need to get this new car upto the track to see what she can do, otherwsie be looking at a 3month break to get my point s off my license..
