P-plater, doing up to 200km/h... in a 50 zone, with a pregnant 15 year old girl in the back and passenger up front... It's just tragic. Stupid showing off like this and the driver ends up taking two lives with him. Who cares about the wrecked GTR though, it's just a piece of metal, what's important is the lives lost.

yeah cos the audience is really going to wait around for half an hour at the beginning of the film while the guys builds his car... These films are pitched at the mtv 2 second attention span audiences, they are not going to waste time getting into anything, besides, a film usually always starts with a 10 minute opening action sequence to kick off the first act and get the audience pumped, so bring on teh upside down driving cars:P

R32 2 Door Sedan!! what ya think??
Terreto replied to BenA31's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
It's very ghetto bling blingy if you ask me, different, sure, but not in a good way. There are reasons why car manufactuers don't make cars like that, and it's cos: a.)it' looks downright tacky (I mean a coupe with short doors? it's ridiculous IMO unless you want to look like a pimp) b.)it's totally impractical, what's the point of a 4 person sedan which has on purpose been made more difficult to use? and probably c.) it's structurally unsound. Don't want to be in that thing if you ever get hit side one or something. I guess if you like that kind of thing go for it, but when I see cars like that on the street I usually think, what were they thinking?! -
I only go wow at: Ferrari's Lambos BMW and Merc roadsters + the M3 Honda NSX (getting on a bit but so rare that you look twice anyway). basically anything that's a bit rarer.

What is with idiotic names for cars??
Terreto replied to Ronin 09's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Don't forget the super-terrific-happy-car 'Nissan Cedric'. -
What are ppls's thoughts on the Lexus is200? I was thinking of getting one as daily drivers cos they are getting moderately cheapish nowdays for what's still a current model car. I mean they are local, cheap to insure and I imagine reliablel and they don't burn much fuel. Plus they are still the current model lexus that retails for 60k new. Plus they look alrite and must have something going for them if every lancer you see rips off the is200 taillights. Anyway, they seem nice other than when I look at the stats they are incredibly slow. Still, for being stuck in rush hour I don't think that the performance will matter THAT much. But yeah otherwise, yay or nay? (and yes I know it's a Toyota whateveritscalled in Japan).
-
go the bimmer, an old 325i beats an even older r32 anyday as a daily driver IMO.

I gotta disagree, Rev-heads and non rev-heads both equally want to make an impression, just in different ways, every person has a desire to be noticed and appreciated by others, so if you're a rev-head you just want it in a different way, but it's all the same thing, doesn't make you any better. Personally out of the two options, well I think r32's are a little long in the tooth and don't exactly look too modern nowdays. I mean they looks late 80's. On the other hand, a civic is a shitty little hatchback that does at least look relatively current model-ish but on the other hand looks stoopid all done up with some giant exhaust on the back. I mean it's not a sportscar, it's not a Type-r hot hatch so why bother making it something it's not. I'd save up for an r33 a bit more probably.

Go the s15, it's a current model car vs the GTR which is going on 15 years old at the end of the day.
-
I say go something newer if you can, I mean cordia's GSR's?? are they like those old cars? when were they out, like 85 or something? That's almost a quarter of a century ago, and it looks it! These cars will have a zillion kilometers on them. r31, well yeah, same, not exactly spring chickens. Exa, again, I mean c'mon it's not 1988! Honestly though, for 10k there's not too much that rocks one's world, the little eunos 30x is okay and the probe at least looks like it was styled in this millenium, (some people here don't care about styling but ya know with sports cars or coupe styling is important, it's part of the package). I don't particularly like the probe, it's a bit junky, and yeah, it could be a hassle but look at these two pics and make up your own mind: The Probe The Cordia 'nuff said. You aint' going to be smoking no GT-R's in this car so you might as well have something that looks like it's not from the jurassic period.
-
Well I'm curious who here does it? Cos judging by how many people I see on the roads doing it it seems every tom dick and harry does!
-
Well go the r34 obviously, I mean, it's 1 better isn't it! Seriously r33's are literally everywhere, 34's a lot less so, though they too are growing in numbers, it used to be a rare thing to see one but now you spot them here and there, not like the 33's, but they're about.

Maybe this old news, but there was a story about the new gt-r on the 30th on Carguide: http://carsguide.news.com.au/news/story_pa...5E21822,00.html Apparently on track for a realese at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show, small chance 2005? Apparently doesn't look like any of the concepts either = good. So yeah, probably 150k, which is pretty damn expensive, when 2007 comes around I'd buy the new BMW M4 or a used 'rari instead for that kind of money.

I saw a Top Gear review of the 350 recently, (who btw liked the skyline), and they basically said the 350z was rubbish! and the convertible is even worse! Would that be a fair conclusion based from people who have driven them? I gotta say, I'm not crash hot on the styling of the 350z but by the sounds of it, looks aside, it's not a very good car anyway? Like they said the interior was dogdy, engine was whiney, no boot, weird styling, average handling etc etc, was all a bit grim. French engine in japanese car designed by an Indian!

Lets bitch about 'Euro-styled' Jap cars
Terreto replied to pentae's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Supra used to look good, but there are so many of them around now and the design has started to date a lot, at the end of the day a 93 Supra is a good 12 years old already. It looks alrite from the back still, but the front with the big droppy early 90's style lights has aged, specailly when they get all dirty, which most of them are. Does the skyline have it's own shape? I don't think it necessarily does, the skyline, and 200sx look kinda similar, r33, s14, before I new about them they were all much the same muchness to me looks wise, which is how I imagine they look to the general populace. Something like the TT is a distinct design (even if it's a bit rolly polly) Next gen Audi TT sure should look meaner though: -

Terreto replied to pentae's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Of course they're going to copy European designs. I mean what is Japanese styling? Does such a thing even exist? Most Japanese car makers have no real styling philosophy which is why so many japanese cars look like toasters or rip offs of European designs (usually because the designs on those more interesting japanese cars come from European or American design divisions anyway). Could you imagine Mercedes or BMW copying Nissan or Toyota's styling!? Not gonna happen. -
Check out this cool tv commercial for the new Merc SLK roadster, nice CGI and music by Rammstein: http://www.beam.tv/beamreels/reel_player.p....php?gSdfxyzbbc

On one hand I don't like riced up hyundais or daewoos... Giant rear wings and lime green paint jobs looks ridiculous on what are essentially budget economy cars. Save the money and get an actual sports car. ...but on the other hand I also can't stand ppl who are like 'it's all about the performance forget the looks', and pour all their money into their banged up looking old clapper of a car and then then proceed to bag an r34 GT-T or GTR skyline because it's got racing stripes or neons or whatever as being 'rice' or 'ghey'. These people have NO taste and are TOTALLY boring and conformist, and the way they try to impose that belief on other people shits me off. Then you get people who are too afraid to be individual! I mean say racing stripes, nice wheels, bodykits or even decals or neons or whatever all look awesome on the skyline if done with taste. If you got the muscle then go for the look as well. The skyline was not styled by pinifarina, it CAN be improved and given some more character, who wants everybody to be driving cookie cutter white and wine red skylines, I don't care if they were the fastest cookie cutter look skylines in the world, it would still be very dull IMO. But of course, the main point is it has to be tastefully done, if you have no design or colour matching skills, don't do it:P

Roadsters rock, it's all about the overall experience not just 0-100 speed, nothin like riding a twisty road with the top down and the purr of an inline bimmer six to listen to. The new Merc SLK AMG 55 is also a hot car, check out that metallic roof that folds in the boot, pretty nifty, this thing is going to kill the z4 in sales.

It's OFFICIAL - The Next GTR
Terreto replied to meshmesh's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I don't know about u guys but I see a lot of 350's about the place, they're everywhere, cos you know any dude with 60k to splash on a new car will either choose the 350 or the rx-8, cos like what else is there??? Exactly, badges are worth a lot, and it's not like an m3 csl is a dog of a car either, so tricky, tricky. -
Pics From Recent Paint Job! <56k Users Beware>
Terreto replied to Cubes's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Wow, the runs down the side there are particularly nasty, mind you I find anything less than a paintjob done by 10 robots in the original factory annoying, but all the same, that is dodgy. Don't envy your situation, I'd feel violated, I mean I think my car would feel 'dirty' to me. Not good, hope it works out for ya. -

Terreto replied to meshmesh's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I think it's going to be a hard sell for Nissan. The v35 doesn't look like a supercar like say the NSX did, and who knows if a new body GTR will. ...and it's such a small market at that price... ...and look at how difficult it has been even for Honda to move NSXs off the lot, even Type-R's. What, they sold like 2 in the UK last year or something according to Top Gear? That's peanuts. It's like they said 'Who would pay that much money for a nissan/honda?', and not many people by the looks of it. I'd get a used Ferrari instead and just wait for a Supra driver to pull up and ask me the retail on it:P It's all academic anyway, how many people here have a spare 150k to throw about on a GTR anyway. -
It's OFFICIAL - The Next GTR
Terreto replied to meshmesh's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
If it gets here in 2007, that means they should drop to around 20-30k by around 2020-25:P I'm guessing the nearest competitor will be the next gen Acura NSX if it heads downunder, not a bad piece of metal that, hope the GTR looks the goods (this is the hsc concept, but pretty similar methinks). ooo, check out them doors: Anyway, sorry, back to the GTR -
Is this the Next GTR... "Oh no not again!!!"
Terreto replied to meshmesh's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I think you guys are on crack, that car looks alrite, better than the 350 and better than the dumpy v35, it's also definitely better than an r33 or r34, ie it doesn't have that sport sedan look. First half decent nissan I've seen in a while. As much as I like skylines, they were never real lookers so that's an improvement to be honest. The two picture are different cars btw, the angle and perspective is mildly different, just reference check any sections and you can tell, though elements of the second have been photoshoped into the first.
