  1. I recently spoke to the guys at the licensing centre in Welshpool cause I've got a 30DET being built for my R34. When I asked him about emission controls and how they test he told me 'if I walk past the car and the exhaust makes my eyes bleed due to over fueling etc then I'm going to fail it'. You'll probably need the standard afm and o2 sensor and get a hi-flow cat convertor as well. Run it with either the factory ecu or an aftermarket ecu which has been detuned to meet emissions. When you apply for your mod permit from the VSSS they will tell you to go get an engineering report before going over the pits, this is usually the case when going from a naturally aspirated vehicle to forced induction or if there is an increase power or engine size.
  2. What a great day! Really enjoyed it, thanks alot for organising it and see you at the next one.
  3. I'm based down in Mandurah, but happy to travel for some great roads, prefer corners/hills lol... imported my GTT when I moved from NZ and it is now legally allowed on the road! I've been out towards Dwellingup and to South Dandalup dam etc... some great roads out there... but what else does this state have to offer within a few hundred km radius? Also, being new to the country, I know very few people, so I'm keen to get out and meet some of you!
  4. Got room for one more??? Or are all the positions filled?
  5. Hey, I'm a bit late to the convo. I imported my car from NZ as a personal import myself with the use of a customs broker here in Perth. A couple of things to consider: Have you owned the vehicle for 12 months, has it been registered in your name for 12 months? Do you have original proof of purchase details in your name? 1 - apply for vehicle import approval, cost was around $56. If you are already in Australia you have 6 months to get this approval from the date you arrived in the country. http://www.infrastru...tion_201107.pdf 2 - contact a shipping company and organise delivery of a container. My shipping from NZ was $3461, they delivered the container to my house where my family loaded the container (I also had some furniture and personal effects sent over). 3 - organise shipping insurance - the shipping company put me onto an agency who does maritime insurance, cost was $289 4 - organise a customs broker - I used Universal Customs Brokers in Perth, cost was $3496 5 - get a permit to pick up the car from the quarantine company when they're done with it - in WA these are $21 6 - take it over the pits for $90, let it fail (if need be), get a defect list, fix defects and then apply for Personal Import Plate from Niddrie $86 (the info about this was supplied with the import approval from step 1) 7 - register your car Heres some info about taxes from an email I got: Anyone can PM me if they want more info on this process. Vehicles will normally attract an import duty rate of 5%, the duty will be charged on the value of the vehicle in Australia. This value can be obtained by contacting a motor vehicle valuer in the state you are importing the goods to. The vehicle would also attract a Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate of 10%. The GST is paid on the combined value of: - The Australian value of the vehicle - The duty paid on the vehicle - The cost of freight and insurance The vehicle may also attract Luxury Car Tax (LCT) of 33% of the value of the vehicle in excess of $57,466. The value of the vehicle used is the combined total of: - The Australian value of the vehicle - The duty paid on the vehicle - The cost of freight and insurance - The amount of GST paid Because of the various duty rates applicable, and the existence of two valuation regimes dependant on whether the car was purchased before or on or after 2 March 1998, information describing the process involved and the methods to be used in calculating any duty and tax liability is available on the Customs and Border Protection website at http://www.customs.g...te/page4371.asp The vehicle also needs to be steam cleaned. This is administered by the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS). Visit their website at www.aqis.gov.au for more information. ***EDIT (TBH I didn't get this done at all, I just got the interior cleaned proffessionally and then my dad cleaned the outside)***
  6. He brew/s, Good to see Skylines have a strong following over here too. I've been poking around for a while and replying to a few threads that I think I can contribute too. Moved over to Perth from NZ in May and my car is due to arrive in the next couple of days. Have been a Skyline fanatic since day dot. Used to own an R33 (RB20E no less) and then upgraded to my R34 GTT. Building a RB30DET, not very original here I know but its something I want to accomplish myself. Enjoy racing, so can't wait to get to Barbagello or Collie to have a bit of fun too. Thinking about joining SAUWA as I was a member of SDU NZ at one stage so if anyone can give me any info on club activities or events before I commit that would be great. I'll leave it at that, short and sweet. Might see you around sometime, I know every time I hear that RB purrrr I'm looking to see where its coming from.
  7. Hey, My R34's just hopped on a boat from Napier over to Fremantle. I went through Olsen Shipping, cost about $2800AUD which was about $3400NZD for shipping alone - still have to pay customs and AQIS and then on-road costs. Not sure how your going to get on as your cars de-reg so pretty sure you cant bring it over as a personal import.. I had to send back my proof of purchase, registration papers to prove I owned the car for longer than 12 months. Probably email a shipping company to get the information about personal imports and the requirements anyway. You might find some more information here: http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/vehicle_regulation/bulletin/importing_vehicles/general/pdf/VSB10_info_brochure_july_2011.pdf
  8. Hi Guys/Girls, I've just moved to Perth two months ago and am importing my R34 from NZ, hopefully through the Personal Import Scheme. I've been reading through some of the other topics in here but haven't really found anything that answers my questions. Apart from ADR are there any other 'rules' for modified cars? In NZ we have LVVTA which give us a black and white outline on what we can and cant do to cars. My car isn't heavily modified but I was doing some circuit racing in NZ so I've upgraded the suspension, brakes, pads, bushes, camber arms etc. It still has the factory engine with a couple of add on's too, intercooler, air filter, and a few other things. I dont want the few modifications I have to stop me from being able to import. Also, is it easier/cheaper to import the car by myself or bite the bullet and I presume pay a lot more money by going through an importer? Can anyone recommend an importer? Do I have to get compliance on my car straight away or can I bring it over, not use it for a while and then go for compliance? I really appreciate any help I can get, I understand it would be easier to ring around but I'm working long hours now and places over here are only open from 8.30 to 5pm lol.
