And Edifier, intimidation seems to be an important part of the scam. Your new 7 point plan sounds long and painful. You've already seen he's happy to produce fake documents. Make sure the car is from an auction and comes with matching auction papers. What happens if at any point you say you're not happy with the car? Same again? People have already mentioned the channels thru which to get your money back. Dodgy dealers like this thrive on the fact it's a difficult process. Oh well doesn't look like you're going to be talked out of it. Lesson learnt yeah? $500-1000 deposit is plenty. -

Was just about to point that out! And the supplied de-reg papers look legit. 60k in 2010, 80k in 2012 = about 100k in 2014. 10k per year so who knows how many were on original dash. All dodgyness aside, grade 4, 100k, at around $40-45k it's not a bad buy. -

Rate this car! Been keeping an eye out for a set of B5s for years now. Do not come up too often. I'll be bidding if you ever decide to sell! Hey have you tried amayama for all the little OCD parts like the speaker covers? The jzx guys love 'em. -
Not sure if this has been mentioned before but a site I've found bloody handy is epc-data.com Punch your vin in the Nissan section and it'll give you all the basic details from fast, as well as a parts catalogue.

Dude I was in a similar position a month ago when I pulled the trigger on my 32. Luckily I didn't have to worry about the practicality bit. From my experience 1. No you can't get secured finance against an import, even if it's already in the country/state. Personal loan is the go. Pushing it for 20k tho. Plus having savings and debt doesn't make financial sense. 2. State to state is fine as long as it's pretty stock. Otherwise a 'random' (it's an import) inspection will suck. 3. Don't be in a rush. Wait for the right car to come up. Importing might actually get you the right car quicker. I wasted months in the local gtr market before deciding to import.

Hi all, Just thought i better introduce myself. I'm Nashy and I've just purchased my first skyline. I'm coming from a background of gemis, old corollas, and work utes so it's a bit of a step up haha. Found myself a tidy '98 R34 GTT manual. Purchased with 105k on the odo. Details; FMIC, K&N Panel, BOV, Turbosmart 2 stage bleed valve, set to 0.5 and 0.9 bar, 3" dump into 3" exhaust with one (huge) muffler, Genuine 17" Work Meisters, 17*8 and 17*9.5, Federal 595s with 255s on the rear, and not a single stray drip of oil under the car, and a very straight KV2 body. I've talked a mate out of his SAFCII and once that's in i'll be hittin the dyno for some figures, but I'm pretty happy with the power it's making. First on the list is a hicas canceller, with some coilovers soon to follow. I'm in Newcastle so I'll be heaps keen for any cruises/meets/events up this way. Anyways, pics: Cheers, hope to catch up with some of you soon, Nashy.
