Yeah im not a fan of stud extractors. if you snap one then your f**ked basically. im thinkin i might just call dr bolt. saves me f**kin anythin up. my old mans a welder but has never heard of such a thing before. i guess its one of the things you pick up in the trade of fixing peoples f**k ups with bolts. im half tempted to give it a try myself, but my issue is if i do it, f**k it up and risk f**kin the head up. then im just gonna chuck a sissy fit and call dr bolt anyways haha. see what happens later in the week. ill be keepin everyone updated haha.

so i was gonna change the turbo on the laurel on saturday coz i randomly got inspiration to work on it. partly due to seeing my mate luke driving his laurel around, partly due to my mate kurt sayin that he is actually honna finish his ltd and we should go for a pimp cruise. and partly because im bored of drivin the skyline. anyways. so i start pullin shit off. get to the manifold and find out there is 5 studs missing. cyl 1 was missing the top stud and cyl 5 and 6 had no studs at all. after taking the turbo and stock dump out. while i was prepping the new turbo to go on my mate alex was gonna pull the rest of the remaining studs out. the bottom one on cyl one just fell, out.. leaving the 6 studs that hold cyls 2-4. meaning the manifold is warped (yes the stock cast manifold) as it was a total bitch to get off requiring a crow bar and hammer. so that called an end to the night for that project. no point puttin the turbo on the manifold as itll just make it harder to put on. plus need to probs get the manifold machined. also the turbo elbow, from the rb20 turbos are to small to fit the vg30 turbo. so who has any idea how to get these snapped studs out. ive seen dr bolt do it by welding a short rod to the snapped stud and then just twisting it out.

wow that is amazing the compression is so good still. my poor coupe which by all evidence i could find had been stock its entire life was barely making 149 across the board. haha.still not bad, but for you to have been hammering this thing around with as much boost as your running and still have basically mint compression is awesome. -
Hey thats awesome! nice work with the candles. and a very nice ring

A Boy's Love For His Rb20
DannyC33 replied to Roy's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Just finished reading this thread! took me a couple days as ive been reading it at work. but my god this is an awesome build, very impressed and its good to see people still goin strong with the rb20. im about to start buildin my rb20 up for my laurel but not lookin for anywhere near the power you have. as its a street car im only lookin for about 220 rwkw. but its nice to know that i dont need to waste money on cams and shit like that. to make the power. -
yeah this is true. but the only thing we got factory delivered with an rb engine, was r31 skyline with the rb30e. which was completely built to suit the aussie market. shit interior, live rear end. didnt get it in turbo because of contractual issues with holden after they bought the rb30e and rb30et. but i mean usa got cool things like the v6 powered s12s. and 2 door bluebirds. and in all honesty i wouldnt mind a ka24de powered s13, id actually prefer it over an sr20det one. because ka24s actually sound decent when worked a bit and respond really well to boost. nice pics again rohan

haha yeah they do look bigger on his car.
-
16 x 7 or 16x 8 i think youll find alan. got a feelin its 16 x 8
-
nice work man! some of those car are amazing! that s12 gazelle especially. not often you see one with a v6 in it. they were actually released from factory with a vg30 in them in america along with 5 stud hubs. unfortunately like everything here in aus we only get the watered down versions

yeah fair call mate. when/if you decide to go the nistune route, gimme a buzz and i might be able to hook somethin up for ya. matts a cool dude and if he has the spare time is usually keen on doin an install for me.
-
a magna? hardly. clearly who ever said that is on crack. just makes it look like a laurel thats had the front end flattened out a bit haha.
-
hahaha yeah extremely unnecessary! ohwells will be sorted out soon. half tempted to just mount them on the floor haha. im the only one that drives it
-
yeah man boostworx. or alternatively if your keen to do it soon ish. i actually personally know matt. one half of the inventors of nistune.

yeah, its pretty gay. ive found a set of rails. but just sucks that i bought rails now i have to buy more. mate of mines a welder and has offered to modify mine. or if i can find some random generic rails he will just make them outta them. so that might be the way i think
-
sooooo.. fitted my recaro to the drivers side yesturday. it was a total pain in the ass.... and its shit. the rails to tall so it actually sits about as high as the standard seat. unless anyone else has some lower rails they wonna sell to me asap. ill be cuttin these genuine recaro rails up on the weekend and making them lower. basically the inner slider needs to be moved into the middle of the seat with brackets goin from there to the legs and upwards to the seat. stupid idea. but ohwell.

i hate this laurel!!! i thought i was happy and knew what i wanted with my laurel. and ive never really been a fan on smaller diameter wheels and lots of stretch. but f**k im seriously thinkin of sellin my eurolines, my 5 stud conversion and my 33 brakes. so that i can do this...
