ouu,ok.ya but i didnt really spend a lot for the boost controller.and a bleed valve and new boost gauge will cost me almost the same i guess so its all good. -

ya setting set gain too close to wanted max boost gives boost spike. i have it pretty much tuner actually i think its ok. @superben. man i just came back from grampians the roads are really nice and without any cameras so i tested out the car several times in stock boost and high boost. i donno why u keep sayin putin the boost controller is a waste but 100-180 in 11 psi was really a lot alot faster then the stock boost. i was actually selecting my mod list according to the HPI R34 VIDEO on youtube. with a full turbo back exhaust system and 10psi boost they got 33kw gain on wheels. i know i havent dynoed my car but even if i have 20 kw gain after the boost controller i dont think thats that bad. -

couldnt wait until grampians. so went out to tullamarine just now. i achieved 111 with set 33 gain 33 set gain 70 the gain is too high but i could achieve constant boost throughout the rpm. with this setting there was a slight drop like 109,108,then it was 110 and just before shifting to 3rd 111.will try to fine tune it tomrrow but is this good enuf? -

ya that what i was thinking if i try to tune it in 3rd gear it already goes up to 150 kmh in 5500 rpm.my car is boost 8 psi stock so i am gona tune it for 11.tomorrow i am driving to grampians so hopefully i will get it done there. so basically spike is if it goes above my desired boost level.for eg i want 11 psi goes up to 12 at some point thats spike. if boost goes to 11 around 5500 rpm but falls later on that means i need to adjust gain. all good. lets see what happens tomorrow. -

SUCCESS!!! Thanks a lot @gtsboy your advice worked.i bought the white thing from jaycars and it pluged up straight to the main unit.hit 9 psi just in one run. now i have some questions regarding tuning. 1-since i am auto should i tune it in 2nd or 3rd? 2-lets say my start boost is 8 psi and desired boost is 11 psi.DOES THAT MEAN IN A PROPER TUNE it will boost from 80 to 110?AND THERE SHOULD BE NO FALL IN THE BOOST WHEN ITS OPEN THROTTLE? 3-I am not sure what boost spike is i did only one run until 80 not sure in what gear but i saw the boost go up to 90 around 4500rpm but then it fell.IS THAT BOOST SPIKE? thanks a lot in advance for all your help guys!!.   -

@gts boy man great idea. i checked in jay car http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=PP2020 the small one is the picture is the one that will connect to the greddy unit if i can get them to connect the wire to the pin then i dont need to take the main unit apart i think. i will take that route if i m unable to find a solution. thnxx alot mate. -

cant the white thing at the end that plugs into the greddy main unit is pretty much broken. if i could find that white pin i could put it back on. -

i figured out the problem.its the valve uni harness.the white thing that connects to the greddy main unit came right off.probably thats why it wasnt controling the solenoid. is there anyway to fix that?or should i just order a replacement? can anyone tell me how to check the solenoid.i want to see that it is working properly before i spend any money on this thing. -

Deathvalley replied to Deathvalley's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i just checked it is infact connected properly to the solenoid does it mean that the solenoid is not working then? is there a chance that it might not be getting enough power to control the solenoid becasue i connected the power line which comes from the greddy unit to the line which came from the back of my cigerette lighter? -

ya thats what i was thinking.how do i know which one is the com port and which one is the no port.its not written on it is it?i was thinking would it still boost to the max stock boost if the solenoid was not working or would it not boost at all? -

@gts boy ya man.so does that mean there is something wrong with the solenoid? bcz with set 90% gain15% set gain 120 it only went up to 8 psi and the speed was 150.if there was a faulty solenoid will it give the readings and everything? plus since i am an auto should i tune it in 2nd or 3rd? thnxx -

alright this is the best i could do i am just unsure about what the other part of the slenoid is connected.one is connected with a line from the turbo(prollly turbo pressure source).the other one seems to be coming from a round thing thats just underneath that.i am not sure if its a waste gate. any help will b greatly appriciated. -

Deathvalley replied to Deathvalley's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
well here are the pictures the first one shows the t piece which is connected to the line coming out of the blow off valve and the line that goes on to the boost controller. the second picture is showing the connection of the solenoid.one part is connected to what i think is the actuator(sorry i am a newb) the other one is connected from the turbo pressure line i guess. is this connection ok? am i not able to acheive higher boost because of the tuning or the connection being wrong or faulty solenoid? please any help. -

this is what i am following plus the one on the instruction manual--- The following steps should be taken in exactly this order, taking into consideration all of the previous information: 1. Change boost pressure units to psi if so desired (see manual). 2. Set WARNING to your desired boost pressure plus 1 psi (about 7 kPa) (see above). 3. Set START BOOST (SET GAIN) to your desired boost pressure minus 4 psi (about 28 kPa)(see above). 4. Clear PEAK boost value (see above). 5. Set LAST BOOST to ON (see above). 6. Set GAIN to 0 (see above). 7. Set SET to 30% (see above). 8. Set LIMITER to SET minus 4% (26% if you followed #7). 9. Test for boost falloff at high rpm. You should probably do this in a wide open area with no other cars nearby and preferably no cops. It is also good to have somebody in the car with you that can watch the gauge while you concentrate on not wrecking your car. If there is no boost falloff, then go to #10. If there is boost falloff, then increase the GAIN by 5% and test again. Keep in mind that when you increase the GAIN value, the corresponding boost that you will go up to will be higher even if you leave the SET value alone. Repeat until the boost pressure does not decrease, or until you feel surging. If you feel surging and the boost pressure still decreases (not sure if this is possible) then decrease to the last level that you did not feel surging at. 10. Increase SET by 2% and adjust LIMITER accordingly, then test again. Keep increasing by 2% until desired boost level is obtained. 11. Increase START BOOST (SET GAIN) by 1 increment and test until surging is felt or the WARNING level is hit and the display turns red, then decrease to the previous setting. -

@skyline coupe.....ya i have a stock intercooler and turbo. i will start with 10 then. i have one more question when you guys say tune in 3rd gear that means i just put it in gear 3 around 40-50 km/h and press go full throttle to see what boost i hit?? -

@superben...i am not afraid of anything.but after reading through the stuff i realised that it will b pretty hard for me to get the perfect setup since i have never done it before. so if anyone who perhaps is runing the same mods as me has it setup PROPERLY can give me their settings i have the most chance to get the near perfect setup haha. if i cant i will try myself anyways. -
hi guys, i just got my boost controller. i have a k&n drop in filter and 3''turbo back exhaust. i want to tune it for 12-13 psi for the high boost. i have come past the article on evo forum about how to tune it. but i was just wondering if any one is who has the same set of mods and is running this boost controller as well give me their settings it would be easier. thanks for the help.
