  1. Yes that's a good price. Fronts for the Skyline in EBC Yellow are $330 and the Blue another $100. Do you have to use G4 pads with them ? any other makes fit them?. Their pads might be ok for a sprint meet , but what about Enduro ? As of now we plan to replace the rotor with series 4000 put in EBC Yellow and concentrate on getting a decent airflow to them. Then we continue getting weight off the car, there's a good gain still to be made here befor we start adding power
  2. Padey, Thanks for that mate..........I was uncertain whether to put it back in or not
  3. u call that a destroyed pad?!?! this is a destroyed pad ... yes that is the piston from the caliper welded to the pad!!!
  4. The Ferrari didn't appear, neither did Wayne Parks. Our brake failure was worse than we thought, the pad was down to the metal and the piston poppod right through the backing plate and ground its front off on the rotor...the rotor iscracked and the backing plate is allbent up around the piston. We were around 7 secs quicker than last year so I guess we woefully underestimated our brake requirements. Mick was pretty lucky to get around turn 3 and bring the car in
  5. It was a faster race than last year, finnished 20minutes earlier Porches 1 to 7. We were around 6 or 7 secconds a lap quicker than last year. Unfortunately though the Skyline was great the EBC Red Stuff was sadly lacking. We lasted just under half way , the front pads were down to the metal and a piston popped out too far, losing fluid ....no brakes at 200Kph coming into turn 3. Fortunately a few pumps gave enough to get around 3 but then they were completly gone. Mick brought it in with the fronts burning merrily away. We were very pleased with the Skyline though, neutral handling with just a touch of understeer....and much quicker round the track. Next year ....same time same place....we'll be there
  6. Don't know yet it's just listed as 2006 Ferrari 430 Red 4300cc. Yeah just around the corner, we are in Norman Tce, backs on to the army base. If you'r passing by call in and say hello. Lexon rear screen and side windows are on the list along with CF bonnet bootlid and wing.. There is also an 84 Porche 956C,'06 996Turbo,'68 930GT2,about 8 GT3s, an'04 MonaroGTS300, an M3 and M3R, a '78 Escort RS2000 and various others. Should be a good day. Spectators free, Pit pass $20
  7. Ah! the advantages of racing a GTST instead of a GTR We don't have oil pressure or cooling problems The stock nissan clutch has been in the car for over 3 years now with no problems. We have rebuilt it for this race as a precaution due to it's age. Standard 1800 pound with 5 puck plate. brakes... we now have DBA slotted rotors and are staying with the EBC Red Stuff which worked well last year with ATe Super Blue Racing fluid. Braided lines are on the to do list.
  8. Don't forget the Ferari 430...he's a loner too
  9. Gary your message box is full, We'd like to get that front swaybar from you ...How much??
  10. Willo where did you get your tyres from, I was a bit surprised at the price, I can get DZo3Gs for pretty much the same and that includes 9 free laps at QR to scrub them in.. Thanks for your comments.
  11. Won't be running on Thurs. The car is minus gearbox, suspension, rear hubs and tyres at the moment. Expecting various parts back Tues or Wed. I was going to run DZ03Gs but can only get 255s for the rear. I understand the V70As are available in 275 40 17 and are cheaper than the Dunlops. What compound are yours...H,M or S. I'm looking at the Hard, want them to last the Qld 500 + a few sprint meets. If I can get away I might come out on Thurs anyway for a chat Cheers Jay
  12. Kumho V70A and V700 Has anybody had any experience with these tyres, medium or hard compound ? I'm wondering how they would compare with the Dunlop DZ03G.
  13. Thanks guys...those who were interested. Deadline for race entry has passed and we have entered a team of 1 car and 2 drivers. Dave you have a pm
  14. Gary. We need full set of springs and shocks for the race car GTS25T asap can you help? they have to be on the car by June 1st absolute latest. Sorry for the urgency but we found today that we have big problems with the Whiteline DMS set up we have on now. 1 shock rod snapped 3 weepy ones. I don't want to get them refurbished AGAIN as I'm not very happy with them, and, the springs are really more suited to a road car. Should have checked the car BEFORE I put in the entry fee shouldn't I.
  15. Settled on DZ03s 235 45 front 255 45 rear. They should last a bit longer than the D11s.
  16. Duncan I'll post a bit earlier next year. Maybe we could team up and run as Team Skyline Racing We have 17x81/2 front and 91/2 rear can't get over 255 in anything. So we are thinking of the Dunlop D11s in 240.625 front and 265.625 rear.
  17. Well guys....it's on again, Our entry forms go in tomorrow. Due to the day being changed from Sun to Sat we have lost 2 of our drivers so Mick and I will be going it alone this year. We did post in the Qld forum looking for another car and driver or 2, but no takers. We need a new set of tyres The O32R we ran last year are not available, and, it's proving dificult to get anything else in the sizes we want. We are now thinking of going full slick and praying for nil rain on the day (yes, it did rain for a short while last year) Has anyone tried out Dunlop D11s...that would seem to be the choice, 265 on the back and 240 on the front cheers Jay
  18. 9krpm If you are serious about this please pm me asap with your phone no or call me on 07 3355 3951
  19. IanB, Hi, I'm not well up on track prep for the GTR....but I know they are not as track friendly as the GTST. You definately need the oil cooler, and, I believe, modifications to the sump. There is a heap of info on GTRs in the motorsports club level motorsports section of the National Skyline forum. I'd suggest you take a good look through this before you damage your car. You havent mentioned how much track time you have. You need 5 sprint meets and some officially observed fast laps to qualify for an AASA National race licence which you need to compete in the Q500. Believe me...there is a huge difference between a 7 lap sprint and 30 or 40 laps under actual race conditions. The Q500 is a team event, minimum is 2 drivers and one car, maximum 4 drivers 4 cars. Having more than one car is an advantage for obvious reasons. Ideally we would like another car with 2 drivers or 2 cars each with driver. The race is 150 laps or 4 hours whichever comes first and the race finishes well after sunset.
  20. How much track time do you have ? Sat afternoon sprints? Top Gear series ? anything else?. Will your GTR do 40 to 50 laps on the Nat circuit?
  21. Thanks for the offer Dave. but I think we are on our own here. There's not much to do, but, like most of you, we have to scratch around to find the money. A roll cage would be good....maybe next year. Right now we need a new set of tyres and brake pads and about $500 for fuel if nothing breaks, the entry fee alone is $1250. Aside from the roll bar the next thing is to remove all glass except the windscreen and replace it with Lexan or perspex. If you know of a good source for this let me know' I haven't been around the club much this year, been too busy...but I'm still a member and still interested. I'm at home at Enoggera most of the time during the week so if anyone is in the area you'r welcome to drop in...I can allways find time to talk Skylines
  22. Anyone who would be interested in joining with us in a team entry to this event, please se my post in the Queensland Events forum.
