  1. This event is on again and promises to be even better than the last one. We are looking for a driver with car (hopefully R33 GTS25T) to join us in a team entry to this event. Does not need to be super modded,in fact, enginewise ...the stocker the better. Road registered cars are fine. Points to ponder You will need a National AASA Race Licence or CAMS equivalent If you have AASA club licence it can be upgraded on the day or any sprint meet prior. You need to have some track experience, Sat afternoon sprints or Top Gear races. You will be on the Nat circuit with some of the cars being nearly twice as fast. You will need to be able to drive for aprox 80 minutes (35 to 45 laps) You will need approved drivers suit, helmet, gloves and balaclava. Your share of the entry fee will be $416 (1 third of entry fee) entry fee is reduced by $400 because we raced last year. Please email me for a get together if you are interested [email protected] I don't wish to be rude but genuine enquiries only please, raceday is less than 2 months away and we don't have the time to waste.. For your info we raced last year. Our R33 ran the whole race..4 hours..with no problems . Engine, driveline mods=added oil cooler suspension mods=Whiteline coilovers with DMS fully adjustable shocks brakes= stock + Red Stuff pads front and rear. Tyres Yokohama Advan 032R (at least 12 months old with several sprint meets behind them other mods= Quick shifter, 4 point harness, all unneeded weight removed. cheers Jay
  2. Karen, I just made payment COL-GTX Serious......Has a couple of small mods and I'd like to see what its putting out. 2 wheel dyno is fine and I did speak to Richard about it It may not be up to Skyline horsepower.... but it would pull your house down
  3. Do you guys know where they are??
  4. Just to be different we will be bringing our Td300 RangeRover. I'll pay up this week
  5. Yep nice vid....they all look like those midget RC cars. It was a good day until one of our wheels fell off
  6. No to the instructor question. Perhaps you could book one of Paul's passenger ride sessions and take someone who knows around the track. Best thing would be to pay for an advanced driver course. There is a first time for everyone, you may not be as slow as you think just let faster cars past on the straights. you will probably be on track with people doing similar times to you. The main thing is to get out there and enjoy driving your car and the company of like minded people
  7. ah! back in Bris again r33 racer....nothing to apologise about, if we all had the same point of view there,d be nothing to talk about. I'm not anti engine mods,in fact mine are all planned out. I'm just seeing how far we can go with lightening the car and setting up suspension and brakes. Track days are not in fact race days...if you want to race you need to go Sundays Having a faster and better handling car will usually get you round the track quickerbut doesn,t mean you'r a better driver...but enough of this. The point I was trying to make was, people post all the time saying they are dieing to get out to a track day but there car is "only" a stocky or they'r waiting until they get this done or that done They could be out there driving the car they've got and seeing their times go down as they get practice in and add mods to their car. Anyway when we're out there come and say hello.....I'm the grumpy old geezer with a white R33 "Mum's Car"
  8. Did you read my post?? I said nothing about being over the limit. Modding the car will do nothing to help you drive it near it's limits. It will...if done correctly..just raise the level of those limits. My point was you don't actually have to do anything to an R32 or 33 GT except upgrade the brakepads in order to enjoy a track day. The GTR of course is another story alltogether.
  9. Good point...lunch + plenty of fluids (non alcoholic ) is very important Just to keep things in perspective our TOR car GTS25T has nil engine mods, we added an oil cooler and lost the muffler...thats all. We do have a modified suspension, Rotors were stock with red stuff pads f/r. The car ran 127 laps of the Nat circuit in the Qld 500 with absolutely nil problems. The tires lasted , the pads lasted....just. The Skyline basicly is a good reliable car and CAN take a bit of a thrash without getting your knickers all knotted up. Going as fast as you can on shitty tires is just as much fun as it is on good tires. The main thing is to actually get out there and enjoy...not ..waiting until you have got this done or that done. If you can drive a stock GTST to it's limmit you will be quicker than a lot of modded cars and a few GTRs.....Have fun with YOUR car See you out there
  10. Sunday Mail managed a reasonable tribute to him, It included a very nice Mark Knight cartoon
  11. Only saw one pass from John...but it was a 10.45...car looks really good too
  12. try www.customcarbon.com.au. Their bonnets weigh between 4.5 to 6.5 Kg. Stock R33 bonnrt weighs 18Kg edit sorry link doesn't work. Try yellow pages they are in Geebung Qld
  13. I'll swap if you like, I'll be in Bris Friday at Enoggera.
  14. What"s the dif between S1 and S2....they look the same as my S1's
  15. Sorry Zaffa, I missed the last bit Entry was $1250.00. You need AASA Race Licence. We upgraded our AASAclub licence on the day doing our observed laps during qualifying. We followed the AASA Requirement list for the car and driver in upgrading ourselves and the car to pass scrutineering
  16. No, looks nice but made from very soft alum. Alum adapters screw into the remote and they are very very soft, fittings supplied on hose ends are large and too close together, very hard to tighten up. Braided hose looks nice but is an absolute pain in the car. I got the supposed R33 kit but it is just a generic with 3 very long hoses. Cost me another $90 to get them cut and new end fittings to actually make a rational fit to the R33. My apologies to Just Jap but in my opinion just a waste of money. I will be replacing it soonest with locally bought components. In all fairness,it did the job and lasted 401.32Klm at race speed with no problem
  17. Thanks guys, the whole thing was just a blast. car mods We took out everything that wasn't needed, but put the dash back in. added a just jap 19 row oil cooler(crap) thats it, engine and driveline was stock. Thanks to GTRgeoff we got the hicas lock bar on in time and removed the hicas. Suspension was Whiteline springs with DMS fully adjustable shocks. Wheels Mod 11's 17x8.5 front and 9.5 rear Yokohama Advan -032R 235 40 front 265 40 rear Speco shift light and short shifter. didn't check the Klms but we used $370 for the race using the track fuel supply, the "Premium fuel" turned out to be 102 octane unleaded. It was a team event with up to 4 cars and 4 drivers per team. Some teams had 4 cars ,we had one with 4 drivers. I started the race and ran for 40 minutes(just enough to see the 962 expire) my friend Warren(another pensioner) ran 2nd for about 50 minutes. His son Darren then went on for about 1 hour and mick51(my son) finished it off.Micks entire drive was after dark and he did our fastest race lap 1.31. Either he or Darren did a 1.30 in qualifying
  18. Well, the Inaugural QR500 has been run. It was a great event and went off with no untoward incidents at all. 14 teams entered, 11 finished and the unofficial, unsponsored SAU entrant finished in 8th place. The R33GTS25T ran like a train for 127 laps(the winning Monaro did 159) we didn't even use any oil (rev limit set at 6,500). Our one set of Yokohamas lasted comfortably, the Red Stuff pads just made it and the stock rotors are stuffed. One front rim got a small dent when mick51 slid onto the ripple strip in turn 4. mick51 did his entire driving stint after dark averaging 1.32 per lap, fastest 1.31. It was a real blast sharing the track with the likes of the Le Mans 962 Porsche, the Monaro, a couple of Group A Touring cars, bunch of Porsche GT3's along with some WRX's and a couple of very nce Alfa GTV's. We are looking forward to next year Pics below are the R33 finally ready to race(minus the palm tree), Our pit crew resplendant in white and one of the opposition.
  19. This is the R33....on the Saturday afternoon finally ready and just about to go on the trailer (minus the palm tree ) Our pit crew all spick and span in white. The girl on the right in the race suit is Rachael Smeaton...I think One of the opposition...or a UFO...it didn't last the distance
  20. Alot more expensive ( around $80 the pair) but tidy and as far as I know...road legal, is the Ford GT recessed bonnet locks. I put them on my Skyline after I got done for the usual type bonnet pins
  21. Thanks for that. there are pics when I get them I'll post up a few. There is a fairly amateur video but it's on tape and we don't know how to get it on dvd.
  22. Geoff Where did you get your info from? Our lap count gave us 112 and the Monaro 148 (not that it really matters) but if you've got all the lap times I'd love to see them. Been to busy to check the car yet but it felt just as tight at the end. Pretty sure the stock rotors are stuffed and the red stuff pads are well down. There is a couple of sprint meets at least left in the tyres, Yokohama Advan-032R,235 40 front 265 40 rear. How would these compare with the D01J?
  23. Wwll!! It was a really good event !! I actually passed a Porsche 962,mind you, it was sitting on the grass beside the back straight at the time. Briefly 14 teams entered (some with pretty fast and exotic cars) 11 teams finished the distance and we came 8th. I started the race followed by the other pensioner and we were pretty conservative. We had only one set of tyres and brake pads and really didn't know if they would last the race or not.half way through young Darren's stint we were fairly sure they would ,so we told him to go for it. mick51 did the last stint mostly in the dark average 1min 32 sec and took the car over the line half a car behind the winning Monaro + a few laps. The car ran like a train...didnt even use any oil. Comentators reckoned we were a good advert for Nissan reliability. It was a first for QLD... a club enduro with such a mix of cars and such a huge speed difference between the cars. There were no incidents and the whole thing was a real blast.Beats the hell out of cruising your 500HP riced up Skyline up and down the coast dodging coppers It will be on again next year with a lot more publicity and promotion.

    Lets Get Along

Yep....one of the very few that are left. I believe it belongs to Rob Sherrard. I'm actually looking forward to having it hurtle past me every couple of laps
