  1. It's allways good to know what "black things" actually do befor you take them off
  2. There are several threads that cover this ,do a search for gearbox in this forum
  3. All done from inside the car unscrew the gearknob, take out ashtray, remove 2 screws at rear of astray space, starting at the rear corners on both sides gently lever up the plastic top of the centre console. It is clipped on at both sides about the level of the gear stick. Wiggle it up over the gearstick and let it hang down out of the way. Undo the 4 hexhead screws that hold down the rubber gearstick surround and remove. From then on it's pretty self explanitary
  4. What size wheels do you want to fit?? the offset varies with the rim width and to some extent, the diameter. ps I don't have a boyfriend........and my wife swears blind she's never met you
  5. WazR32GTSt You can have my Turbosmart dual boost for $75
  6. Not really interested in adding hi tension leads but would be keen to find a cheaper replacement for when the coils die. I guess you could resite the coil rails to mount on the rocker cover and run very short plug leads
  7. I have a hi flowed turbo, on full throttle boost comes on at 2200, at 2800 i've got about 10 psi, at 3300 i've got full boost 16psi, it stays on full boost right up to 8000( 8000 hit by accident in first)
  8. Have tried both new and old Turbosmart duel boost control and was not happy. Guy in Bundaberg makes one which works well very small too about $80....I'm seeing him on Sat. I've now put together 3 of the Audi do it yourself boost control and they work very well...control max boost and how it comes on around $150 to $170. Here is a link to the article www.autospeed.com/cms/A-0670/article/html? Edit link not working article is in issue 100 of Autospeed
  9. Quote.......the avcr, imho, is the only ebc on the market worth getting. franks.... a definative statement, Which of the others have you used and how do you rate them
  10. There's a pod in the coldbox, the GTR inlet just gets more air to it
  11. Yes...it can be spotted in your excellent photo. The open valve you are asking about is on the end of the Blowoff valve. The blowoff valve or BOV is mounted on the air intake pipe from the intercooler. The intake pipe is joined by the large rubber tube to the throttle body. The throttlebody is bolted to the side of the intake plenum.... the large alluminium thing underneith the strut brace. If you lean over the engine bay from the drivers side and look directly down over the accelerator cable at the side of the plenum facing your BOV about 1 1/2 ins to the rear of the cable and low down on the side of the plenum there should be a similar valve....in your case it should be blocked off. This should be joined by vacuum tubing to the valve on your BOV.after unblocking it The number you need is the VIN no. This should be on the Manufacturers plate on the firewall Not the compliance plate which is usually on the inner guard Edit Ha.... Turbosmart is writ rather large isn't it !!! sugest you get together with someone who knows Skylines and have a good look around your car to see whats what
  12. It should have a rubber tube on it leading to a similar size "valve" towadds the rear of the intake plenum
  13. Any large motorbike shop. Mine cost $80
  14. Thats the good thing about the GTR intake it fits over the new pipeing and you just have to work it into the top of the cold air box........not possible with the GTST intake. Take another look at that pic.... the inlet pipe to the throttle body comes up through the cold box. Makes it a b**ch to get the holes right
  15. With the manifold removed you should be able to get at the studs with a drill and easyout without taking the engine out. If I had to drill them right out I would use inserts rather than just retap the holes to a larger size. None of mine have broken yet, do you guys use a torque wrench??
  16. Too late....it's closed
  17. Nothing wrong with VB it's a good drop
  18. Possibly when you take your foot off to change gear and boost drops there is some residual pressure in the line from bleed valve to wastegate which slows the closing of the gate. We got around this by installing a one way check valve from between the bleed and wastegate to the line into the bleed. A good explanation of this can be found in Julian Edgar's articles Audi's Do It Yourself Boost Control Parts 1 and 2 a search of Autospeed on line magazine will find these easily enough. I've installed this system on my R33 and it works fine. With high flowed VL body turbo I have 7psi boost at 2600revs on half throttle and full boost at 3300 15psi virtually nil lag between gears and boost holds all the way to8000revs!!!
  19. have you connected up the speed input........splices into line53 out of your computer as i remember
  20. I've got a nismo twinplate push clutch in mine, They reccomend a genuine nissan thrust bearing and I think the same applies to yours, any nissan place can get one
  21. Being English, and living in England until I was 24 I was brought up to see Police as people I could turn to for help if needed, and, as I have never had any bad experiences with police in my 39 years in Aust I tried to bring my boys up with the same belief. I've had my Skyline since Oct 2001 and have never been stopped by police. My son Mick has had his for 8 months and being stopped for no particular reason is a regularly occurring fact of life and he now sees police officers as being rude, overbearing, bullying, threatening and ignorant persons who should be avoided at all cost. My point is I believe that young people driving Skylines and similar, modded or not are a targeted group and subjected to very different police behavior and attitudes than the average driver, I would not advise anyone in this group to take their Skyline anywhere near the police for any reason unless their life depended on it
  22. Specifically for Queensland: Queensland Transport publish a booklet called Modifications. It can be picked up for free at any Queensland Transport customer service centre. It covers the basics if used with intelligence, however doesn't mention pod filters. They also have a website www.transport.qld.gov.au/driving
  23. You don't really need to unplug it but you do need to unbolt it and swing it out of the way. Then you can get the cover off easily
