P-Plater Buying A Skyline
mikeyR33-T replied to W1ldcard's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
THEY are the lucky ones, IF you ever get pulled over by a cop and you're on Ps (unless you were on them before the laws changed) you will most likely lose your license. Even S.A has just brought in this LAW, that stops P platers from driving/owning anything more then a V6 and even some 6s are high performance if they are supercharged. THE only way they would be so lucky is if the car was in their parents name, and they didnt go through an RBT, because it is a big NO-NO in most states now! but yeah a few are lucky! even IF someone got an exemption; a turbo/twin turbo import would be the last car to get one but WA is lucky in this case, as they per usual are behind the rest of the country (good thing for P platers in WA) even tho WA has the worst drivers in Aus! lived there for 2yrs too long -
Thanks, I understand some of what you're saying, and Yes I will be going to WILLALL asap to see what they say just abit nervous, last thing I need is to have to change a bunch of things before I can even do the tune! as you say maybe plugs, maybe AFM, etc But I will find out asap, cheers
-
I am hoping exactly that..... to fix everything... ive had the car 6months and this whole time its been running R&R and sluggish and cold start, will be good to finally have its FULL POTENTIAL after the tune

HI guys, I have recently got my R33 rb25det ecu changed, it now runs a Z32 ecu + nistune, I have only had it done for about a week. have a few things to clear up before I go ahead with a tune! need a few answers first in regards to TUNING. First of all, what does a tune do it corrects fuel/AFR/timing etc? will it correct my R&R issue, will it correct my economy, will it help with cold starting and high rpm issue? I hear most nistunes tuned properly have a massive difference over the stock ECU, I run r32 actuator, FMIC & 3in turbo bk exhaust. - am hoping I dont need AFM or anything when I for the tune? I have chosen WILLALL to do the tune, just have to get a few things done by mech asap before the TUNE hope someone can provide some assistance to a new guy cheers

P-Plater Buying A Skyline
mikeyR33-T replied to W1ldcard's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
depends on the laws in WA, but most states are now strict on P platers driving high powered cars, i.e ANY THING TURBO, V8, especially imports - massive NO on that one. most ppl wait till they are on Full license before buying GTST or just buy a GTS for the time being.? - people try to use the EXEMPTION rule, but you wont get one for a skyline, as it has no purpose in the work force unlike some V8 utes. GOODLUCK oh plus these things below are defectable in most states: -Turbo timer -Apexi Electronic Boost Controller - pivot oil temperature, boost gauges -APEXi Power FC with controller -
Turning Right, Green Light (No Green Arrow)
mikeyR33-T replied to projectx's topic in Western Australia
- technically you're meant to make a judgement; if you see that you can make it through the intersection in time, then move forward and go as soon as safe to do so, BUT yes some people tend to wait for a mile of space, thats in all situations, changing lanes and all... But in this case you're meant to continue through the intersection soon as its safe to turn, and if you're already over the white line, you have to finish the turn even if its on the red, because you can and will get booked if you are sitting in the middle of the intersection when its red. - if you're unable to judge properly the time and distance needed to make the turn then you're best to wait behind the white line, since most ppl do, because some ppl make driving look like a chore People tend to make driving a task, when its not. and dont get me started on this NEW roundabout 'law' that seems to be making its way to the eastern states.....LOL -
Hi, just updating... I got the new rings/conrod bearings/3pistons were fu%d got all that replaced and now realised its running R&R which was most likely the whole time since I changed actuators Im learning as I go along... I have since got Z32 ecu and Nistune installed, plan on getting a tune done asap to get the best I can out of this car and of course fix the bugs it has, Martin from WILLALL has explained to me, his tune will fix most of my issues cant wait, car might actually run to its full potential soon enough thanks

REPOST - as i posted this at like midnight and realised no1 was on, and need definite answer before I waste money on the gasket set? Hi, before anyone jumps in, I have read about 20 different posts in relation to this and none of them are exactly the same as mine Started the car today, from first crank it had a persistant tick/click sound like tick tick tick tick and even with throttle it was there and it increase in volume & speed as the throttle increased (using the throttle cable in the engine bay)(R33 S1 auto, stock turbo, stock inj, stock engine) I waited a good 5mins before driving the car, opened the hood and my ear was directed towards the top right hand side of the engine bay between the turbo and the wall/flywheel. couldnt exactly pin point but it was louder right there in that corner. first I thought it would go away but I had some business to take care of, SO i drove the car 45mins and the click/ticking continued, was faint when driving unless I went pass a car or in a tunnel, but it was still making the noise whilst I was driving the whole time, as well as on Idle parked. At first I thought it was the lifters but lifters usually sound deeper, then after reading i am thinking it may be a big leak in the exhaust/turbo gaskets causing the noise, as it increased with throttle as if it was controlled by the air passing thru the exhaust. can anyone shed some light at tell me if its likely to be a leak as it made the noise in Idle and driving, no matter what rpm or speed I did. and its coming from the right side of the engine near the turbo/exhaust! any advice would be appreciated, its possible gasket or bolts have snapped and caused a leak?????? please help, as I just got myself Z32+nistune today ready to be tuned, but cant do a tune till I sort this out! hoping its just a leak and not lifters! ( it made this noise before I changed ECUs) thanks heaps

goodluck with that, sadly more then likely it came off a truck also, even if you had a case it would take months and big money to even get to court, sadly its just one of those things, as it was debris; most likely from a truck, it wasnt a power pole or street light that was on the road. If every person who ran over material or hit an oil patch was to sue the local council it would cost alot of time and money. ALSO if you got to court they would argue that it was your error of judgement to not avoid the obtrusion. You will be better off just paying for new tyres and going about your business, I had a bad luck with buying my car, got it cheap but still didnt expect the engine to be sick, so I have had to do a rebuild already after just buying it. Sadly its just life.

Major Persistant Issue On R33
mikeyR33-T replied to mikeyR33-T's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Just got an email from Matt at nistune, and he says the Z32 ecu will run my car and the auto in my car, he will supply z32, fitted with Nistune and base maps excellent! THEN i look for a tuner. BUT my question is nistune with base maps for rb25det, can i drive it on the new ecu nistune setup till i get tune? or just get the tune done asap as people say its around $400 for a tune, and is it possible Nistune with a tune could fix all my problems, or is it still AFM related? cheers. I will be getting nistune done asap!!! -

mikeyR33-T replied to mikeyR33-T's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
okay will do they dyno monday and see, but Id say you are probably right hopefully the dyno will show other issues too, then I will drive it nicely on standard boost which i think is 5psi at low rpm to 7psi at high... until I can buy NISTUNE? would you say NISTUNE? or PFC? I like nistune, I am only aiming for 200rwkw for a while, then maybe one day 250, but its just a streeter not track - not my thing thanks again for ur advice/help!! -
