OKAY - so theres no other way to fix? otherwise I cant drive the car until I can get the money for the nistune setup (since the r33 ecu cant be tuned?) I always wanted a nistune as its better long term just thought there would be a way to fix this issue for now? -

- I hear ya but all cars are old, just imports take more of a beating running turbos from factory! okay tell me this, what would be done to rectify a R&R or rich situation (providing it is R&R bad spark) is there a definitive answer if the dyno guy sees it running super rich??? if you dont mind giving me a lesson on cars cheers (from memory the O2 sensor was changed - that didnt make much difference, the rest I have no clue, only had the car 5-6months) -

car came with FMIC + 3in turbo bk + cat, and I only added a 10psi R32 actuator.... and apparently R33 ecu cannot be tuned? could that be the cause of all my probs, the shitty stock ECU spitting dummies??? thanks again -

Rolls - I have it booked in mate, just wanted some advice if someone had a definitive answer, I have a good friend who could do mechanical side of things if some1 was to say YES it is AFM for sure.... otherwise a DYNO is the best idea at this point and hopefully it will show if its too lean or too rich or not enough air/fuel. HOPE they know what they're doing, some places are slack -

I understand what you're saying, but my mechanical knowledge is limited at changing a tyre; checking oil, NO idea on the rest, So i have no choice but to get it dynoed which i wanted anyways No hiss, no noise on idle itself..unless i de-cellerate then it kinda gurgles! cold start is bad in mornings first thing for the day to start it will idle very low maybe 300rpm for 5secs then die if I DONT give it a bit of throttle.. again no pop when boosting, except right at the end of the boost at high rpm like 6k when i back off after overtaking it will be at the end of the boost and kinda pop once unless thats the noise it makes with no BOV... but thats the only time! I do recall NOW, that when car is turned on ANYONE can hear clicking noise coming from the dash area for a good 5secs when car is turned to power even before cranking?? I will get dyno for now! I dont trust myself to try to do anything, I have never serviced a car before! -

THANKYOU - I will try to answer to my best ability, but remember my knowledge and mechanical vocabulary is limited Okay - there is no pop that i can tell, if i take foot off accel it makes a gurgle kinda sound but even my SS did that... its not really a splutter or stall - think of this - accelerating from 0 and rpm going up to say 100km/hr or more... as you are climbing in rpm it will feel like it backs off for a second, not a fluid motion up the rpm, its only for say 1-2secs where it will back off slightly, could be described as a lil flat spot or blockage for a second, usually if i try to accelerate and it does it, I would take foot off and re-apply the throttle to make it move, this is mid cruise as i said generally around 3.5-4.5k rpm and its only for that instance not continual...( JUST like it wont go up the rpm kinda stuck for a second...?) - only remember it happening at the higher rpm range! (AS STATED - it doesnt die, just has a flat spot for a few secs when it should be climbing in RPM it stops for a second but no sound just the feel is wrong and the speedo & rpm gauge drops back a lil...?? if that makes sense! ** CAR HAS ONLY DONE 1200KM SINCE REBUILD, REPLACED ALL RINGS,PISTONS AND CONRODS *** ALSO - lately I have been getting that super loud induction/suction sound that is very loud like a screamer but It doesnt have one nor BOV.... idle is fine - except the cold start (and yes I have read numerous forums on SAU and it is common) DYNO - Booked in for MONDAY ) hopefully good news if they pinpoint the issue, but also bad news because more $$$$ thanks again for the advice!! -

the rpm/throttle backing off - well its hard to explain, as I said i would be accelerating as normal to drive or overtake and at certain point usually over or around 4k give or take. and then it would feel like the car is literally backing off accel on its own for a second..till i press throttle a lil, almost like a flat spot or a miss (im a total newbie with skylines ) plugs were just checked and gapped by a good friend. and yes I will wait for DYNO, but I like to know others personal experiences (just hope the guy knows his stuff, because previous shop didnt assist or I didnt explain it right?) Its all a learning curve guys, so bare with me here -

Hi guys, since we last spoke about the car, I ended up opting for a rebuild. Got 'ruby' to do a full rebuild; rings, pistons,conrod bearings, and a few others bits. car has been run in done over 1200kms in her. But still have a few persistant issues, I would LOVE some honest advice, if anyone has experienced this before? first of all, on first start in the morning, I will kick the car over, it will idle quite low roughly 500rpm for 5secs and then DIE, unless I give it a touch of throttle, it happens every time I start it for the day - could be cold start. or timing?? Secondly - I am running an r32 actuator on constant 10Psi; I am being told it could be a R&R issue, the situation is at times when cruising or accelerating the rpm will flow upwards while I am accelerating, BUT at times it will feel like the rpm is backing off, or the throttle is backing off when my foot is on the pedal, I am trying to increase throttle but it will back off for a second; this can be on a normal throttle or even on big throttle increase.... and lately the car has been making a HUGE induction sound, like a turbo BUT much louder can be heard from inside the cabin (like a whistle or woooosh) THE CAR is 1993 R33 S1 - stock turbo, engine, ecu, only mods are FMIC, 3inch turbo bk exhaust & cat, and that R32 actuator...... I have been told a few different answers; it may be running R&R (but why?) it could be the AFM? or TPS (timing) I have booked in for a DYNO run and for the guy to check AFR levels and see what comp says...... It seems like a never ending issue, and I have no idea where to begin.... AS said everything is basically STOCK - it boosts good around 3-4k not sure exactly, but gets to one point at the top of the RPM and spools up, boosts but then kinda sounds like a backfire, as there is NO BOV! it sounds different?? ANY ASSISTANCE APPRECIATED - AM HOPING THIS NEW GUY WILL FIND THE ISSUE AT THE DYNO! cheers guys, this is my first import and it means alot to me, just abit frustrating lately

HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP - could pm so will post below: hi read ur post about idle, well I have idle issues mainly first thing in the morning, will kick car over, it will idle rough at around 500rpm for like 5secs then die, unless i give it a lil throttle... could be cold start issues or more serious..... also when accelerating normal or quick the rpm will climb but then feel like its backed off, even tho my foot is firm on the pedal... I am getting dyno done, some say R&R some say bad TPS, some say bad AFR... I have no idea...

Mate I have the same situation, its like very loud like ur flying through a vortex big woooooooooosh sound, I run auto, r33 gtst s1, Auto, I have FMIC and 3in turbo bk zhaust, stock engine, turbo, ecu only adjustment made is R32 actuator for a constant 10psi, but cannot remember if this issue was before or after I changed the actuator, anyways certain times it makes that noise, quite loud from the cabin, as well as when accelerating the rpm goes up but theres not a huge power increase, and sometimes when climbing in rpm it feels like the engine is forcing the acceleration to bk off (trying to explain the best I can*) anyways some say R&R, some say Fuel issue AFR, in the end ive decided to get a DYNO and check all levels/readings and go from there..... its a very annoying situation, could be one thing or 10 things causing it! anyways IF you found the issue let me know ASAP!!! CHEERS

Okay, so i need to find the Z/R32 ecu for my car and then get pete to do the rest including TUNE? p.s does the nistune remove factory speed limiter/rpm limiter??? cheers

Hi guys, had some work done on car, looking to upgrade ECU from the stock rb25det one, mine is an Auto Coupe'! been looking seriously at getting NISTUNE does anyone have a nistune board to suit even if its in the Z/R32 ecu as long as its all prepped for auto R33 :-) definitely the next addition to my car I believe to make a difference in the overall drivability/power/acceleration etc of the car to get this nistune and get a proper tune done thanks guys if any1 has one to sell or can suggest a good place to get one? WTB: HKS pod setup/bracket/surround for r33 s1 I could buy each component to fit BUT someone may have a POD filter setup complete?? including the heat surround. PM ME ASAP

yeah probably not hey, but at the time i didnt know or think it was that bad...everyone ive spoke to has said new rings/gaskets will make the engine run like NEW! which i believe is worth it either way

did 3-4months ago, like this; 150,150,150,145,140,135 from mem - but that was august, the main reason to choosing to do rings is because the motor isnt running its best and that dipstick has blown out and oil out the side of the motor and engine bay.. compression seems down

Hi guys, for those of you who do not know me/my car; its 93 r33 rb25det, auto, coupe 180,000+ kms, had to change turbo recently and rocker cover gaskets etc.. got the car cheaper but now i see why, even from day 1 when i got it dynoed and tested the dyno was down at least 10-15kw off normal, I have a 3inch turbo bk xhaust and hi flow cat, FMIC, and K&N filter, stock turbo/ecu etc all stock internals, the car always ran okay except starting up in morning it would idle rough as for a min till it came good, and driving it would at times hesitate OR have flat spots midrange. always drove but wasnt 100% power wise and idling and recently got worse, now the induction noise is very loud then it used to be, the car still idles rough in the mornings but most recently BELOW is the issue: MY car has been down on compression on 2 of 6 cyl, but only be 10-15 psi, but since then i have upped the boost and given it a HARD time here and there, and NOW im getting oil spat all ova the engine bay, ive been told its compression build up shooting the dipstick out and oil out onto the engine bay beside the dipstick? theres no other way for oil to get out on the side of the motor, so myself and mechanic have decided compression has gone worse in the past months and to change the rings/gaskets for rebuild?? is that the ideal solution, and will it make the engine run like new again?? I thought the idling and flat spots issues may be timing/ AFR but I think now its to do with compression/air flow and my mechanic friend and I have decided to do the RINGS in my rb25det, change all the rings and gaskets as to do a rebuild to bring the engine/car back to life?? WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST? IS THIS A GOOD IDEA? (there would be more details in this but i only know so much) thanx - this is serious, I do not want to drive my engine to the ground if its slowly dying? cheers mikeyy

mate, you are dreaming, standard R33s go for 7-11g everyday of the week. this one has AFC mods, work done, might have been crashed so maybe a bit high, but NO GTR is under 12-15k unless defected or wreck... -
if its one thing ive learnt from owning a skyline, you cant go buy cheap shit poo that, its generic repco stuff, you aint driving a commondor or ford anymore, these cars are performance!! I used to own a commondor and the oil was like $20 but now owning a skyline I get the good stuff $65 5litre bottle of 4100 MOTUL, you cant run cheap semi synth in ya RB, thats just a heads up, even if you do, you will probably have to change it more often
