  2. I was riding a little CBR125 about 2 years ago...I broke hard and lost the front end in the wet. I hit the deck, ripping my jacket on the right side and the bike was all scuffed on that side too. I was a little bruised and shaken but ok..I had a mate riding with me, so he quickly parked and went to get me off the road. An older lady also helped me up..stopping her jeep right behind to make sure no one ran over me. There were 3 cars piling up behind her, and they were all beeping their horns for her to move! I was standing there holding my arm in pain staring at these ass holes thinking...some people..
  3. The whole issue of safety lies with the training quality and time. How in Australia you can get your L's and start riding on the road within 2 weeks is beyond me. It's like they teach you the basics over a few hours and expect you to learn the rest yourself! I trained overseas (Singapore) where they realised that because of how expensive cars are over there, people will resort to 2 wheel transport - Hence the need for a comprehensive training system. On average it takes people 5-6 months to get your motorcycle licence, and that is while attending a school and learning on circuits designed for 2 wheels. On the last 2 months of training you are out on the real roads with instructors who are constantly monitoring you and providing a safety barrier for you. It took me 5 months from start to finish with multiple testing in-between to earn my motorcycle licence. And over there, it isn’t an automatic step up to any size bike after a year either. I had to go back and re-train after a year to get my 400cc licence. Then again for my ‘open’ class licence. I could be wearing the most glow in the dark piece of crap and it won’t save me. You need good training in how to handle traffic situations on 2 wheels, and you can’t learn that on your own. I have been riding for 5 years (4 of those years was every single day as my main form of transport) and it’s the training I had in the beginning that saved my skin on countless occasions. More training to make better riders..that’s where it should be.
  4. Thanks for the feedback guys...I have taken to a shop to look at this morning. Didn't want to take any chances. Will post back my findings just in case someone is in the same situation.
  5. Hi guys! I have a strange noise coming from the rear of the car. This just happened all of a sudden. One day the car is fine, the next, this bloody noise! I have attached a video of it here from youtube that I took this morning. http://youtu.be/q3z6pk91arQ Can any of you guys please help me identify the issue? It doesnt happen when the car is at idle or when I rev the engine at idle. It also occurs at any speed. More intense it seems as the car gets faster. Any help, would be appreciated! Cheers! Dex
  6. I might be interested - how much for just the power fc and hand controller?
  7. How much for the R34 GTT NEO engine Cover?
  8. Pedrosa Wins! Boring race really...but good on Pedrosa for sticking it to Lorenzo...the man was flying!
  9. Pics of seats please? - are they in good condition?
  10. There is no denying what apple has done to the smart phone world. They produced a fantastic product and continue to improve on the same concept.. and yet that's the thing though.. It's happened time and time again with me and my iPhones. I have been through all version of them, right from the beginning, and yes it is amazing to buy a new phone, plug it in and it is exactly as I left my old one. Contacts, music, messages etc..all at the click of a sync button. BUT! - It's still the same thing. The novelty of owning a new piece of technology wears off pretty fast for me and the iPhone, because I am staring at the same god damn thing (albeit a little faster and thinner etc).. I am not an apple fanboy by any means, I just enjoy the ease of the iPhone when it comes to using it for personal and work side of things..and hence why I will be getting the iPhone 5 after serious research and nearly going down the path of the S3 - 'if it aint broke, dont fix it'
  11. I thought it would at least depend on the type of Skyline. R33 are the most common, but even then, I still don't see that many around. I drive my 34 as a daily and I really don't see many 34's either....and GTR's?? - Well, even rarer still. Don't see what the fuss is about anyway, its not like we are bloody commondores. Now that's a car you see literately every second.... Skylines Rock
  12. Done! And for those still reading here, this is our route: http://goo.gl/maps/SuLqy Look ok GirlTorque? - That's what you had in mind yea?
  13. Hi guys, Following on from a thread in the actual Vic section. A few of us have decided to go for a little cruise down to Rye! (Nice and Easy for our daily drivers!) We want to meet at around 8pm on Pier Rd parking area in Mordialloc and head down towards Rye. Set to take off at 8:30pm I'd say. Map: http://goo.gl/maps/SuLqy If you have nothing to do this Sat night and want a nice and easy cruise..then come on down with us! I will be there and Im sure GirlTorque will be there too and possibly 1 other. - We hope to have more! Cheers! dex
  14. Only 2 of us confirmed? Common guys...it should be a good night for a drive
  15. Yup that sounds like a good spot! I am in! Anyone else want to meet there for a little drive? I am free pretty much anytime in the afternoon / evening..shall we make it 8pm or something - then we can all head down towards Rye?
  16. Thanks! - I reckon a cruise down to Rye would be great! Mine is also a daily, so I fully understand what your talking about GirlTorque! What's a good spot for everyone to meet at? Then we can do a nice cruise down to Rye. Nice to do it on a highway where everyone can take a look at all the Skylines too lol
  17. Give us a google map reference or something mate. Hey GirlTorque, if you wanna go from South East together, im up for that! I am just at Mentone.
  18. I might be in mate...where do you want to meet and what time?
  19. I wouldn't mind going for a cruise..I don't want to push too hard though, last time in the twistie mountains I ran over a very deep hard to see pothole and it wrecked my suspension on my old 33. So if we are going on a nice calm-ish cruise..then sign me up!
  20. For the Emperor?
  21. Done! I think the schooling for new drivers here is ridiculous. I mean being taught by a parent / friend for all those hours? Bad habits get transferred, and lets face it not everyone was made to teach. I was lucky enough to learn overseas, where you have to attend classes, get taught by proper instructors, learn on a circuit first, spend months on the open road, and progress through a pretty tough marking criteria. Sure at the time it was such an effort making time to attend the driving classes a few times a week, but ultimately it made me a better driver. My gf just got her licence here in VIC (passed first time) and it amazes me how much of a bad driver she actually is. Sure she is new, so would be a little nervous, but you can tell that certain things wasn't enforced in the teaching because a parent just said to 'go at 59km/h and you'll be alright' She is getting better and I do help her whenever I am in the car, but I always can't help but think if she got my training, she would be much better in the long run. I am not saying I am pro driver or anything, but I have been on the road in both pretty quick cars and motorcycles and I have never had an accident yet. Probably just cursed myself there now....
  22. Ah right...might explain it then! Thanks heaps mate
  23. Hi guys, I have a 1998 R34. The button that controls the headlight tilt is all fine, however there is one right next to it, on the left. I think the actual button appears broken on mine though. It seems to be a toggle switch which I can click from left to right. Does anyone know what this does? Could someone please let me know all the buttons that should be down in that area of the car below the steering wheel and what they do? Thanks heaps! dex
