Damn that's a nasty crash! Put things into perspective and how we all need to be careful with such powerful cars

The launch control is updated in the newer model. I think the old LC1 chewed up a few gearboxes of the first cars so they updated he software in later models and are now on LC5. In the UK you can also get the latest gearbox software installed which makes the gear shifts much smother and less jerky around town. Not sure if you can get this here in Australia.

Best value for money is an 09 model. You can easily get the additional power with a Cobb/ecutek and exhaust update which are quite reasonably priced. I have ecutek remap and y pipe on mine with the updated lc5 software and it's got about 40 more hp than a 2012 model. The new models do have some nice interior updates and revisions but you are paying a premium for this. There are also suspension updates etc on the newer models but unless you plan to track it regularly and are a very good driver ( which I am not) you probably won't notice the difference between the models.

Doesn't work like that for personal imports. As per the legislation you need to have owned the car and had access to it for at least one year before you import it here. You will have to provide a copy of every page of your passport to prove you were in the country for the majority of the time in that year. In addition you will be asked to provide other legal documents etc to prove you are leaving the country for good.

I believe Litchfields in England have a fix for this now so hopefully some local specialists will be able toprobide the same soon. Moor those out of warranty

A bit off topic and just for the record. I had Daniel r34 install alarms and trackers on both my cars recently and he was brilliant going the extra mile and working to 9.00pm on the day as we had some technical issues on one of the cars as he had never installed a tracker or alarm to this particular model. The guy know his stuff and is very passionate about what he does. He has been a great help with any questions that I have had since the install and was always willing to spend the time on the phone with me explaining issues. I have had some coding message issues with one of the trackers and Daniel has been calling and emailing me with possible solutions trying to solve the problem.I never expected this kind of service and i am glad I used him for my install. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to get aftermarket security on their car. Ps He did mention to me personally that I could call him anytime as long as its not 4am in the morning so 3.30 am is the latest lol

My understanding is that the LCT is only payable on the amount over the threshold, so its only 33% on the 6,000= $1980. .

Thanks all for your input. Yes I was hoping to import it as a PI into Australia when I return. The current cost of one here in the UK is about £35-£37K by the time i land in in Oz it will be about 75k in a years time. I will look at other options and see what else is worth bringing home.

Hi Guys, I am currently based in the UK and thinking about purchasing a 2009 UK model GTR and looking to import it back to Australia as a personal import in 12-18months time. I do not intend to make a quick profit and hope to own the carfor a few years at least. Just wondering has anyone else done this and is it worth it financially? I have looked at the prices of GTR's for sale in Australia on carpoint and other websites but how realistic are these asking prices are. The below one in NSW is a 2008 model with 8.4km on the clock has an asking price of 142k AUD. Is this price realistic ?
