  1. Yep I'm the evil one (NEO34). Ha ha. just kidding. Anyway to tell the story correctly, I was driving at a constant speed with my wife and two kids in the car when you unfortunately found the truck in front of you (in the middle lane) driving at a slower speed. At this point my front end was nearly inline with your rear end in the middle lane. One of three things could of happened. 1. Either I braked suddeenly to let you squeeze in on the right hand side. Which I saw no need for, the truck and I were doing a similar speed anyway. 2. You just stay in the middle lane, slow down a bit instead of being in such a rush. Wait for me to pass (as I was) then move into the right hand lane if you wish. 3. Just move into the left hand lane (of a 3 lane motorway) where there was no traffic in front and continue accelerating, if you could not wait for me to finish passing. This is what you chose to do in the end, so good for you (No malice intended) When we first moved onto the motorway from Mt Gravatt, I was trying to get up beside you to wave hello, because I saw your SAU sticker and I remember Drew and John (fellow SAU members) talking about your ride 'MSPSI'. When I finally got beside you, you wouldn't even look over. Maybe you had a bad day or something, I don't know but you kinda looked angry about something and not interested in saying hello. Oh well maybe we can meet on better terms next time heh.
  2. Thank you for the goods. Had this game a long time ago till it got lost in the clutter.
  3. I noticed in that testing procedure that there needs to be at least 3 meters of open space between any side (front, rear and both sides) of the vehicle and other objects. This is probably so that the sound meter doesnt pick up reverbing noise. If a car (including the cops) is parked next to your car in the spot where they test your vehicle, take a photo of the test being conducted with a date stamp on the camera and your license plate as well and dispute the defect. Makes me wonder how many times they actually follow the procedure correctly.....? For example the standard for testing exhaust noise states: "Engine RPM must be held steady at 75% of rated peak horsepower RPM" Wonder how many cops know the actual 'rated peak power rpm' of all the different import RB engine versions? Or do they just look at your redline and tell you to take it to 75% of that. I'm sure thats how they would actually do it. An R34 GTT for example makes Max Power of 206kw @ 6,400 rpm 75% of which would mean that they should of tested it at no more than 4,800 rpm If they don't know exactly when peak power is made they are likely to base it off the redline which is closer to 6,600-6,700 rpm . So at 75% thay might be ask you to rev it too just over 5,000 rpm. Its all a matter of inches when your talking after market exhausts and db, just something everyone might want to remind the cops of when they are db testing your vehicle!
  4. Thats unlucky mate, I suppose they had some sort of equipment to check the sound level? Exhaust sounds nice though, enjoy.
  5. Interesting results so far. Another vote here for the 34.
  6. Haven't had my car for long, but the TEINS fitted to my 34 do make a notable difference over the standard setup. There have been some noise issues but I'll know tomorrow if they have been fixed or not.
  7. Thanks for the info Jon, you mentioned that place last time we met. Sounds good. I will wait till I pick up my car first to see if it is any better, then I will decide on my next move. I'm not too interested in selling or swapping out the suspension at the moment as I'm really enjoying the handling.
  8. That fills me with confidence Look to be honest the car handles like its on rails. Body roll is so close to non-existent its not funny. Overall I'm happy with the Teins, as I have said before its just the noises that I found a bit strange. Just to update my situation, I have been told now that one of the shocks was losing Gas or something. Sounds like what 'Sydney Kid' was talking about. Anyway they said they are going to fix it up and re-seal the unit. So hopefully one of those noises is at least gone when I get the car back. Hopefully its that annoying hissing!
  9. Interesting. My left rear suspension is making noise about 75% of the time that I'm driving it. Almost any travel in that shock makes the hissing, yet there is no noise coming from the right one. Doesn't seem typical to me.
  10. Ok so I'm told my new 34 has come with Teins HA Coilovers. Car rides and handles beautifully despite being a tad on the firm side (thats all cool). My concern is the noises coming from the car! Problems: 1) There is a 'hiss-hiss' sound coming from the left rear shockie. The 'hiss-hiss' sounds like air being pushed as the shockie goes up and down, and happens on any mild road bumps at any speed over about 20Kms/hr. Problem: 2) There is a knocking sound coming from the front of the car over mild bumps. The knocking sound almost sounds like it is coming from the middle of the car but is hard to tell. Its not super loud but noticable none the less. After leaving the car with this suspension specialist, I phoned to find out what the story is? The guy apparently reckons that after a peliminary check "there is nothing wrong with the suspension". This has got me a little confused. Sure the car is handling beautifully but are these noises typical? Is hissing from the left-hand rear shockie at any speed over 20kms/hr normal with Teins? and what about the knocking sound? One other thing I did was take some photos of the suspension before I sent my car in. Please have a look at this photo and tell me if this looks normal? I dont' know anything about suspension but it looks like a twisted rubber jacket or something? Cheers
  11. Your right mate it is clearly stated in the QLD guide to modifications....."the fitting of nitrous oxide injection equipment is not permitted" doesn't change my mind about what I think about it though IMHO this guy was obviously just a responsible enhusiast who was caught by a backwards system.
  12. Its really quite unbelievable, I mean these cops are targeting the car enhusiasts. Just the other night down the Goldcoast they waved over this mustang over. This car was immaculate, completely restored with polished chrome, spotless engine bay etc etc etc. Anyhow this mature guy with what looked to be his wife hopped out. The police guy was just going over every single detail with his torch in his engine bay trying to find a problem. Eventually he asks him to pop the boot. He pops it and there were two brackets that hold a nitrous bottle screwed to the base of the boot with a hose that is not attached to anything, and the cop says right thats illegal were gonna tow your car! No nitrous onboard. Couldn't believe it. Here is a guy who has spent big dollars on an immaculate classic and obviously takes the car out on the strip with nitrous every so often, yet has the common sense not to use it on the street (and so removes the bottle) and he gets done. I've got a hundred other stories about BS defects also..... gets me wild.
  13. Not too sure if I'm goin to make the dyno day Drew, will most likely get the car dyno'd anyway before and after stage 1 mods.
  14. Not too sure mate. The PPQ website isn't exactly comprehensive on this sort of thing, best to give em a call. I believe there is a small fee for changing existing plates etc.
  15. n15mo I never see you out on Saturdays down BWCP. Only that one time a while ago, you should come down one Sat night again. Drew and I are down their most the time. BTW its no extra cost to get the USA style rear plate.
  16. btw nice looking car tdawg great colour!
  17. you can tell I'm excited hey? Probably right. Will try and get some pics up later today
  18. Yep the GTT is now parked in the garage awaiting its next adventure. I have been driving the thing quite a bit (to say the least) since purchasing it a few days ago. Without downplaying the awesome qualities of the R33 skylines (my last car), I must say that the R34 is a stellar performer by comparison. The power and torque prodcued earlier in the rev range makes the car feel very responsive at just about any given moment. I've spoken about the cars ability to corner before but I have to talk some more about this, it just blows me away that much! I've been going into corners fast, breaking only sighlty if needed and then punching it trying to find its limits but the car has so much grip its amasing. Its no GTR but even so its very, very suprising. Even when traction starts breaking in the rear end, it slides out very progressively and never feels unsetled like my 33 did, then the traction control kicks in and the car just rockets out of corners. In factory form, I would say it is easily the nicest handling RWD vehicle I have every driven (yes I have been in a few in my time). I get this feeling like the car has been engineered with a racing purpose in mind. Not that the 33 didn't feel like that, its just that it feels even more so in the 34 and I am not talking about a few small degrees of difference, its really much more than that. The car also feels so balanced, with a good distribution of weight, ie. the car doesn't feel like the arse end is floating around nor is it so heavy it causes the car to swing wide in the corners. Steering is acurate and pinpoint, changing direction at just about any speed is an extrodinarily simple task. If anyone hasn't noticed by now I am blown away by the stock set-up on these cars and best of all its still a 4 door vehicle and so fits the bill for my family perfectly. Anyhow love the car and am very happy with the purchase. Cheers to Firefrog for taking my arse out in his beast so many times, whilst waiting so painfully for my car to arrive.
  19. yep just took delivery of my GTT and have clocked close to 2000k's in 3 days! I can't stop driving it, its a brilliant machine with a great all round package, even in the tip-tronic. My old R33 doesn't hold a candle to the 34's stiffer ride, running gear, traction control etc. etc. etc. Not the quickest car in a straight line but in the corners it makes me smile ear to ear. Can't vouch for the RZ's performance although I dont think I'd swap this thing for anything but an R34 GTR
  20. I originally posted the "R34GTT vs XR6T" thread a while ago found here when test driving tipronic, turbo sixes around the 30k mark. To cut a long story short, I had made my choice and I found the R34GTT to be the superior overall package. Now my time has finally come to take delivery of my baby. All things going well ( ie. the world not ending in some sort of freak cataclysmic-disaster) I will have the car in my hands tomorrow! It now looks like the 3 months of waiting has finally come to an end and the four cyclinder, naturally aspirated, XX year old, lancer (our make do car) will be returning to the mother in-law. Only problem now.... I need to be able to get to sleep tonight!!!! Anyone have any suggestions for how to get through the final wait? (actually I think I'll be restless for the next couple of nights )
  21. Please anyone... host these vids...please
  22. Thought I'd post this list up of some quality/well-known exhaust Outlets in OZ Exhaust Supplier List Brand/Where to get em: BLITZ/www.autobarn.com.au TRUST/www.advan.net.au APEXi/www.advan.net.au & www.accessauto.com.au HKS/www.bd4s.com.au REIN HARD/www.extreme-machines.com.au XFORCE/www.xforce.com.au Custom Exhaust Specialists (CES)/www.cesracing.com.au
  23. I have heard good things about Trust Exhaust systems, especially relating to the exhaust note, but I can not find anyone in Brissy that can supply one? Infact I can't find anyone that who can supply Apexi GT Exhausts either which I am fond of. Do Autobahn fit exhausts? Cool..... although $1400 just for a dump?
