Cheers Zymotic. Only problem is your paying $450 more for a 'Mild Steel' (M.S.) system instead of a Full Stainless Steel system. Stainless systems look better and are lighter than mild steel, so you get the power to weight benefit as well. Infact I can get a full 3" high flow Mild Steel system including Hi flow CAT like I did with my R33, from 'Right Price Exhaust' also in Moss Street for $1050 fitted including the Stainless Muffler.

yep it looks a bit like that but is more 'cylinder' looking, ie; the muffler doesn't shape down smoothly to the tip. The tip is also longer and not cut on a angle like the one in that pic. I think it the HKS one that I have seen looks much nicer than that to be honest. Can I ask how much were you quoted for the full CES system and does it meet any Australian Standards for noise requirements?

Haltech skyline Looms....is it true!
Myth33 replied to nizmokid's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Wiring Looms? As far as I know Haltech make aftermarket ECUs but excuse my ignorance, could someone explain the significance of them making the loom itself? -
In answer to your last post zymotic, I don't know too much more about the $1500 HKS system than what I have told you. It just stands out as the best option in my mind so far, based on all the research I have done. I dont have power increase figures or noise figures for that HKS system. However needless to say power increase would be good by any measure. I have seen the HKS system on the wall (its on display at 'Hardcore') it looks great and there is two things that standout immediately when you have a look at it. Firstly it has a very small resonator (looks great flowing) , its almost like a straight through system from the cat with what I would call a "medium sized enlongated bubble" (this is the resonator) and then two soft bends to the muffler at the rear. I am not sure what you mean by a cannon muffler but if you can post an example I could tell you if it is similiar. The muffler too me looks much like a long cylinder with a single tip at the end. The other thing that stood out, was the HKS sticker on it that said "True Street" which leads me to believe that this is a system designed with noise levels in mind, and secondly it has engraved into the exhaust tip the word "Silent". The system looks nice and shiny & all the welds are spot-on. The fact that it is a brand name system is a big point for me anyway. I can't remember off the top of my head if it included the Hi-flow cat in that price. But that was definately the dump and cat-back fitted. After checking CES website it says 24KW but does not say at the wheels, yet other systems for other makes of cars are quoted on their site as ".....@ the wheels" so I'd say thats a flywheel figure (more realistic). Even so thats probably 10-13kws more at the engine than the very nice looking Apexi System that HPI Magazine fitted. Hmmm still not sure on that.

I meant to say: reduces heat and increases power. Soz

I have priced a full Stainless 'HKS' brand 3" Mandrel Bent Exhaust (turbo-back) fitted for $1500 from Hardcore on Moss Street in Slacks Creek. This was for a R34GTT btw. I dont have any dyno figures that I can post but I can't see how any Aussie exhaust maker is going to beat the Research and Development put in by such a large Japanese Performance Powerhouse such as HKS. I have been researching exhausts for a while now (looking at changing my GTT exhaust when I get it in the next week or two) and a claim of 40KW even at the engine, I find extremely hard to swallow. I have volume 3 video of HPI magazines 'Project 34' where they fitted an Apexi exhaust to an R34GTT and dyno'd it before and after. The GTT made 148 RWKW standard then 158RWKW after fitting an Apexi GT Cat back System and Apexi GT front pipe. The GT system from Apexi is as large as 3.74 inches in some places and was designed using the aid of a hi-tech CAD (Computer Aided Design) programme so that it has the minimum amount of bends possible. Thats a gain of 10 RWKW for a quality brand name system with large diameter piping. Now back to the Aussie Exhausts I have been quoted prices of between 2000-3000 for custom locally made exhausts of similar quality/design. The main point that seems to get brought up by the Aussie exhaust specialists is their exhausts at this price are "Ceramic coated". This supposedly reduces heat in the system and therefore power. Not sure on this myself, I mean how fast do you think exhaust gases flow through an exhaust system, especially under high load? I just cant see this providing 100%-200% gain over a full Jap system. I am yet to find a Jap spec system that is ceramic coated to compare details, which makes me wonder why they aren't using this technology if its so good? Just sharing my 2 cents anyway, feel free to debate anything I have found becuase I am ultimately seeking the best upgrade path here as well.

Hate to bring this thread up again, but I'd love to have some of these Skyline Commercials, especially the R34 Sedans. Can anyone host these vids please!!!!! I've searched the net for these and have found nothing.

Sorry mate can't think of anyone who can help you out with those rims, however in relation to your thread title ... "Just between you and me, I think I know of some women who can help you out there.... PM me"

Great find ed!!! What a gem of a site...... Here are those pages translated. It makes it a bit easier to understand the differences they are talking about. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=e...hl%3Den%26lr%3D http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=e...hl%3Den%26lr%3D http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=e...hl%3Den%26lr%3D

Hmmm..... So what is the kit called that is just the lip attachment around the 34 with the wing? Is it just called a sports kit ? Is it a nismo option? I'm confident that it was a factory option of some sort, not aftermarket.

Bwahhhhh hah hah....... ***holds hands over mouth*** Bwahhhhh hahaha.............. sorry this thread is so funny. Guys like that are one thing, but trying to cover it up when you've been found out is another thing. Poor guy prolly doesn't even own a GTS/GTSt.

R34 owners & Suspension Gurus needed!!
Myth33 replied to Myth33's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
yeah the compliance mob have to change them to Halogens and it sounds like I probably wont get the Xenons back either. Damn shame of you ask me. -
R34 owners & Suspension Gurus needed!!
Myth33 replied to Myth33's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Ok great thanks for that! N15mo I got to see the car in the flesh a couple of days ago and took about 25 photos with my cyber-shot. Since then I've been going over everything again. Another question on this matter then, if the car is fitted with a better aftermarket suspension would the compliancers have any reason to take them off or exchange them etc? Better make sure I get everything I can, I asked to have my Xenons kept and they said that they have to change them for compliance, fair enough. But then I asked them If I could get them put into a box and given back to me and was told that they have to cut them out some how to replace them and they would be worthless? I dont know the truth in that but anyhow? -
R34 owners & Suspension Gurus needed!!
Myth33 replied to Myth33's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Yeah I thought that the green colour wouldn't be a factory item in any of the suspension parts, so maybe like you said I might be lucky. Does anyone know exactly what that green thing is in the picture? (technical term, like is it the coils?) BTW Thanks for the nice comments on the car (its at compliance ATM then detailers, I'm told its mine in 2 weeks) -
I'll be the first to say I no nothing about suspension..... anyhow I am buying this R34 4 Door and have inspected it...... It looks to me like it has been lowered but I have nothing to compare it too! Just wondering if some R34 owners or those for a keen eye for suspension could take a look at the attached pics for me and give me their opinions? Help is greatly appreciated..... One of the pics belowshows a flash of green through the wheel (is this after market suspenson? If so should I be concerned about anything? Three [pics] below

Located on some skylines rear window is: SFC=Super Fine Coat OR SFHC=Super Fine Hard Coat I understand that it relates to the paint in some way but my question is this; Does anyone know if this relates to the paint finish itself?? or Does it relate to a clear paint protective film that is applied at dealerships etc. sort of like 'Ming' Secondly is there any real world differences between these two finishes or are they just marketing ploys. (just incase your wondering..... I did a search in the forums for an answer to this but could not find a detailed answer or a comparison between the two)

LOL yeah thats it mate. I will definately be keen for another cruise when I take delivery. Hopefully soon.

Although this debate may gladly rage, the Decision for me at least, has been made........... DRUM ROLL............................................................................ ................................................................................ ................................................................................ ................................................................................ ................................................................................ ...................................... R34 GTT is the pick!!! Thanks greatly to FIREFROG, AFRO and the rest of the R34 and SAU Boys that came out on Saturday Night down the coast. I believe the GTT has the better overall package for me, besides it was always going to be a hard choice to betray my beloved nissans. Thanks to everyone who gave their input into this thread, it was very interesting to hear some of the stories people had to tell. Will post picks when I take delivery (perhaps not in this thread). Just incase anyone is wondering what some of the other factors were that guided me in this direction, here they are: *34 is an extension of an already proven powerplant, that being the RB25DET *XR6T powerplant long term (5+ years) reliability has yet to be proven *For me the R34 has the superior 'ride' in factory form (including braking, cornering and general driving position and feedback) *I feel that the extra 200+ Kilos that the XR6T is lugging around would be hard to shed and/or compensate for without some serious money being spent on the suspension, brakes etc. The flip side is the GTT need not concern itself in this area and power gains can remain for the most part the only focus. *The tip-tronic in the GTT has an overall better feel for my liking, hard to describe, drive both and you may see my point *The looks. As someone mentioned earlier "how can you say no to those tail lights", point taken and agreed with *In-terms of actually price the GTT is a couple of thousand cheaper so that money will go towards the car in some form, probably Alarm, Tint and Turbo timer. *A bunch of other asthetic and gismo likings that I had with the 34 So thanks again everyone.

Nice. Yeah that would be unique thats for sure! Have you seen how enormous the Ford turbo six motor is though? I have serious doubts weather it would fit in the Engine bay, maybe if you cut a large hole toward the front of the bonnet. Actually I have seen a few with my own eyes in Brisbane car yards advertised between 34k-38k. If you think I walked in off the street and offered 3 or 4k less cash (no finance needed and no stuffing around with trade-ins) and say "I will buy today" you think they won't budge on the price? pfft. Anyway take my word for it, I've been looking everyday (and night online) across Aust. and 03 turbo models are available for this kind of price. On another note I saw another GTT today, was comparing build quality of the interior this time. So I am gonna make a few other points now. I wouldn't say the GTT has better interior build quality, it is probably about even actually. The R34's interior is quite modern for a car 5 odd years older and very unclutered. The 34 feels extremely functional though and nothing sticks out where it shouldn't. Interior space is not small but it is limited, especially in the back. The XR6T's interior by comparison feels a bit over the top. Its use of painted silver plastics and bulgingly-huge dash feels a bit odd, almost like its trying to please the 'luxury buyer' and the 'sports car buyer' at the same time if you know what I mean and too me, it doesn't pull it off successfully. Its not ugly but I would say it is a matter of taste and its bulk reminds you of its 'sedan/family get about' type heritage, this is extremely obvious when you look at the width of the centre console (between the front seats). There is enough interior space to play cricket though!

I'm finding it hard to fight, believe me. So it sounds like it is at least as heavy as I thought, but maybe heavier, which brings the power to weight ratios even closer together....interesting..

Sorry Arkon, you must have written that post super quick while I was stuffing around with my last post, because I didn't see it a minute ago? Thanks for the info mate, and yeah I have registered as a user on fordXR6Tubro.com just to use the search feature to do my research. I agree with everything you have said basically just a couple of questions: Just curious though have you taken a stock GTT 4 door tip-tronic for a test drive? Also do you know exact differences in Quarter mile times betwenn these cars? are you sure? can you point me too a reliable source on this becuase I have a spec sheet that I downloaded that said 1664kg and that was in an Auto 2003 model.

All positives here ...... hmmm......thinking answer = Yes Negatives.......Positives..........and everything in between hmmm answer = No Skyline is looking up BTW does anyone know if an 03 XR6T is a Mk1 or series 1?
-
On the dash it has no Redline! That was one of the wierd things I asked the dealer about, but I have since confrimed that it is normal. Regardless the XR6T starts to cut around the late 5,000 rpm mark but peak torque of 450nm is made at latest by 4,000 rpm. yeah I am really like a pendullum at the moment!! At times the 34 really feels like the only choice (being a skyline lover through and through....) its just the falcon is hard to ignore with the specifications.
