  1. Knore, i love your Skyline. Any ideas what the Japanese markings mean? I'd love to import one with markings like that.
  2. Nay bother.
  3. It sounds like you guys get it pretty bad on the motorways in Australia. What is the average limit over there on a dual carriage way? 90kmh? 100kmh? In the UK the limit is 70 miles per hour, although most people drive at around 80-85 mph. Police won't do a thing if you're amongst traffic that's doing 90mph even. We don't get so many cameras on motorways - only in areas under maintenance - but the real problem is the cameras in towns and cities. They are pure revenue generators. It is getting so bad the Conservative party are trying to get votes by saying they'll scrap all cameras on non-dangerous stretches of road (i.e. all un-necessary cameras) if they get into power! Luckily all cameras in the UK have to have a luminous yellow back to them so you can spot them as you go up the road. This doesn't include hand-held radar guns though.
  4. Yeah, me too
  5. R32 GTR R33 GTR R34 GTR Apologies if any of these cars belong to people on these forums! All i can say is they are all excellent Skylines.
  6. That's a nice car mate. Why did you sell up?
  7. Roy, i saw your post originally and thought you were talking about a TVR Tuscan - looking at your pic. My friend has a Tuscan S and i was wondering how you could possibly stall it, after all, the engine ticking over is enough to move the car in first gear! Then i realised you were talking about your Skyline. Unfortunate to have a girl moaning about it but hey, i bet all your real mates love it.
  8. No i don't agree. I've got 3 years driving experience under my belt - about 25,000 miles worth. I haven't had a single accident but i do drive fast - mainly when i'm on motorways. That experience you might just shrug away, but it really does mean something going from 17 to 20 years old. I think you are mistaking 'tall poppy syndrome' for good old common sense in this case. Just look at the replies from other Skyline drivers in this thread - SinisteR32 for example. He has agreed that all his money goes on his car, he has had to learn the hard way about driving a powerful car. Basicaly, everybody has a short spell when they go 'mad' in their first car and they'll test it to see what it can do, how well it really corners, how fast it can go.... and you don't want to be doing any of that in a high performance car. Skyline or not, if you lose your back and have next to no experience you'll be in trouble.
  9. The optimum ratio for air:fuel on any combustion engine is about 12:1 - if you are looking for power. However, if you run an engine at 12:1 you are looking at over-heating problems, which is why most engines run slightly rich, because with less air in the mixture the engine will run cooler. You probably already know this!
  10. I just looked at his user name. Maybe you're right. But it all depends on how cheap you consider cheap to be. At the end of the day the cars that have been mentioned are all around 2.0l some of which with turbos. Fuel economy, road tax, insurance is all going to be much higher. I'm just thinking about they guy financially. Good point. Forgive me for being sceptical about his intentions, it's just that 3 people in my year group alone when i was in school were killed in separate road traffic accidents. I don't really care if some dumb kid kills himself in an overpowered car, but its when bad drivers kill other people. What is the p-plate system in Australia anyway?
  11. I can't believe how many people i have seen on these forums wanting Skylines as their first cars. Even when i was younger i wasn't THAT stupid. Unless you have very wealthy parents, or you deal crack, there is no way you'll be able to afford to run a car like a Skyline. Petrol, tax, parts, servicing and maintenance, INSURANCE. It all adds up. Owning a Skyline as your first car would cripple you financially. Hell, if i was working full time right now i couldn't afford to run a Skyline in the UK. As for wanting a 'good drifting car'....... grow up. You'll kill somebody. Idiots like you all over the world put MY insurance higher. It's idiots like you that bend your cars around trees trying to impress your mates, or the young girls you're trying to pull. Get a cheap and cheerful car that will cost you f*ck all to run whilst you A) learn to drive a lot better, safer and more responsibly... and B) until your insurance goes down, you get some NCB under your belt and you have enough money to run a powerful car. Don't mean to be harsh on you but you need to think realisticaly.
  12. Man, that car is amazing. Absolutely amazing looking. What sort of kit is on that?
  13. Something similar happened in the UK a few days ago. This guy had a SERIOUSLY modified Ford Sierra Cosworth which had hit 191mph before. It was in magazines over here and everything. Then he was driving along and a stolen car cut him up and stopped in front of him while another car came up behind and blocked him in. 4 guys jumped out wearing masks and started to beat the sh1t out of the driver, but he got away. They then took his car.
  14. LOL, if she really is a slvt and you won't see her again then try to do a dirty sanchez on her!!
  15. Me neither. Loans can spell trouble if you can't manage your finances very well. My student loan will be the only one i've ever taken out i reckon.
  16. Woah, there are so many of you that are turning girls down because they are interested in your car. At the end of the day, you don't need to have a relationship with them! If they are fit, attractive and the right age for you then get a shag out of them - just remember to wear a johnny! Seriously, i've just come out of a year long relationship and half of that time my GF was travelling. When i was working in the US last summer i could have had so much fun, but i stayed faithful to my GF. What did that get me? A very boring relationship with a girl that was too different from me. I don't want another relationship until i'm about 25, or until i meet a girl that really turns my head. Until then i just want to have fun. Be young while you're still young.
  17. If i did have a skyline i'd be like, "alright pet? fancy a ride? you'll get a shag on the back seat too if you're lucky".... ...just kidding, it would be funny though!
  18. I think you need a certain level of maturity before you buy powerful cars first of all. I know too many people that wrote off cars in their first year because they were simply too immature to handle the responsibility that goes with having over 150bhp under the bonnet. Secondly, i envy you students in Australia. From what i hear, you guys get a grant each year at University, is this true? Well, i have a £9,000 loan to pay off when i enter full time employment (hopefully) this summer!!! Myself, i've been driving a 1.1 litre fiesta around for the last 3 years as i get very cheap insurance on it, good mileage and excellent reliability. At the end of the day it is a sh1t heap, but very cheap to keep on the road. Meanwhile, when my insurance has been going down, and my no claims bonus building up, i have been saving money. I run a kickboxing club at University so i make a decent amount of money teaching that 3 times a week - it's enough to live on anyways. So all of this has contributed to my savings. It remains to be seen what i do with my money when i come out of University..... do i pay off my student loan in one big lump? Or do i buy a Skyline?
  19. I could afford to buy an R33 GTS-T over here in the UK. You can import a 1995 model with about 30-40k for about £8,000 (18,951 AUD) or £9,000 (21,321 AUD). The biggest killer is insurance though. At the age of 22 if i had 4 years no claims bonus i'd STILL pay over £1,500 (3,353 AUD) for insurance. I'm beginning to think i'd be better off getting a turbo diesel for a few years so i can save some money!
  20. LOL I think those were developed in South Africa - pronounced "Saaaaf Afrikk-A". You'd be gutted if your girl friend went to get something out the car and didn't realise it was locked! Then again, she'd end up with no hair on the bottom half of her body, which could be a plus....
  21. i rekon joo need to reed ma furst fred agen, innit. I'm no more of a car thief than you are a famous author, mate.
  22. Mate, it pisses me off to hear about car thieves. I know a guy that has had his Nova (crap 1.2 first car) broken into about 3 times purely because of his speakers! I'm lucky in that i've only had one attempt on my car, but then again i drive a Ford Fiesta so its hardly a performance machine!!! I heard about an R34 stolen in London. The description went something like, "Skyline R34 1999 stolen in London. Black, alloy wheels, immoboliser, alarm, T-reg, Thief had a one metre gun". Yeah, not stolen from his driveway - the poor bloke had a gun pointed in his face as the thief drove off in his car.
  23. LOL, you're probably right. In the UK there are hardly any Skylines, every single one has been imported as far as i know. I'd like to think that because of how rare they are there aren't any special 'techniques' for breaking into them, (For instance, on a 1994 Calibra you could place half a tennis ball to the door lock and punch it to open the central locking) and that your average immoboliser and tracker could stop thieves. I COULD get some killer dogs to patrol my car day and night, and to water the alloys day and night too , but that could prove very expensive. I guess there isn't much you can do against thieves. They'll always find a way around the best security systems.
  24. I wouldn't know what life would be like after a Skyline because i haven't owned one yet! My plan is to get an R33 GTS-T and drive it for a few years while i'm young and still able to pull! Then i'll probably end up getting a 'sensible' car when i get a mortgage, probably something like a Golf GT TDi (6 speed, 150bhp, GT suspension and kit, modifyable to 180bhp and 280lb/ft, 45 mpg). I know it may sound sad but i know of a guy in the UK that ran a GTS-T for 9 months and had to sell up because it cost him so much to run. He loved the car to bits, but he said the fuel economy and insurance costs just killed him financially.
  25. Well that got your attention i'm sure. No, i'm not asking about how to break into skylines. What i WOULD like to know is what is the most common way that skylines get stolen? I'm looking at importing one soon and need to know what sort of security i'd need to install to stop mine getting nicked. Obviously if anybody would mind posting about how theirs or somebody else's skylines got nicked it would help us all out. Thanks for you time.
