You can get your knock sensor checked at your local nissan dealer. Might be an idea to get your oxygen sensor checked while you are at it.
I wouldn't worry too much about compression testing, I think you are wasting your time. You would know if you were down on compression, and it would be causing more problems than what you describe.
If you can find your factory boost control solenoid, feel along the lines and you will feel a lump. Remove that hose and replace it with a new one without the lump. Thats what SIKR33 is on about.

a friend of mine has a Z32tt and it is missing, he took it to nissan and they said it was a stuffed knock sensor.
if it seems to be running rich and short on power as well as missing, it probly is the knock sensor, get it checked out.
How early they spool is determined by a number of things.
mainly trim and exhaust a/r of the turbo. i dont know very much about the T66 and if they come in different a/r's or trims but would assume that they do and can be matched to suit your application.
yeah it is right next to the air box. Doesn't create any issues with havin it hooked up to bov line. Comes on boost earlier in my car.... Dunno why tho.
