Actuator Gone Or Something Else?
Deep Dish V35 replied to hughezy_10's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
i seem to have a thing for saying "id be checking the fuses" latey.... but yeah thats what i'd do. sounds like the locking system could have no power, turning the key would feel heavy because its not being electrically assisted.... pressing the lock botton on the window switch panel should also have no effect (but thats assuming its not an independant circuit) it could well be the actuator tho -
Alignment Specs For 350Z Springs On A Sedan?
Deep Dish V35 replied to sonicii's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
-1.5 degrees is nothing to worry about. 350z springs in my sedan have given my rears -3.5 degrees which looks just right. tyres have lasted a year so far and have very minimal wear -
well there you go. driven past there every day since 2005, never noticed it before

New (Better) V35 Gear Box
Deep Dish V35 replied to Hunter_in_a_V35_250GT's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
yeah an auto trans specialist should be putting it on a hoist, removing the access panel and valve body to inspect the internals before doing any upgrades. a shift kit will put lots of extra load on the components and break the weakest part -
Nankang is probably better than chinese ebay tyres... if youre like me, and you only need tyres to stop your rims touching the ground and to last forever, then anything chinese is fine. but if you want grip in corners... spend the extra $$ but expect a short tyre life. ive seen Simex used on the track in the wet and do well.....

New (Better) V35 Gear Box
Deep Dish V35 replied to Hunter_in_a_V35_250GT's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I had my RE4R01B trans upgraded by a local Adelaide place. they put all new full internals from a stagea turbo trans (7 plate instead of 5) and their own trans kit for about $2500. even as a 2.5 litre motor it chirps the wheels between gears the RE4R01B trans is almost identical to r33/r34 except for the input shaft the R01A trans parts are not interchangeable as far as i can tell -
Yep MV Automatics in Blackwood have the correct scantool and a heap of knowledge, but the CVT8 trans is probably one they havent done too much work on before.

Replacing Hid Headlights With Halogen
Deep Dish V35 replied to ObiV35's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
this is the annoying bit. it is as illegal to fit HID globes to a regular headlight reflector as it is to fit a filament globe into a HID reflector. In both cases they are designed to have the correct parts fitted. as usual, government standards allow a downgrade to crappier filament globes. double standards. Youll find that the RAWS process only signs off that it is no longer HID, infact they do no testing at all of the replacement install regarding light output -
Engine Number? Vq25Dd
Deep Dish V35 replied to FUTO_GT's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
^that will be the body number. I think i saw the engine number behind the drivers head too... but at the time my car was on a hoist with the trans out.... i think it was just above the bellhousing. the number will be on the block, and the heads bolt onto the block just above the bell housing -
Replacing Hid Headlights With Halogen
Deep Dish V35 replied to ObiV35's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
its all in here.. http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/motor/design/adr_online.aspx the section referring to headlamps, and the section referring to filament lamps, both state that the "E" marking on approved ADR headlights will be void if modified without testing and approval, ie: installing a globe that is not the same as the globe type marked on the rear of the light assembly, due to filament and reflector misalignment. Its up to you what you want to do, i personally wouldnt want to cut the loom and get rid of the HID components. -
besides the fact that i wont go near those cruises, i'll be nowhere near adelaide

Replacing Hid Headlights With Halogen
Deep Dish V35 replied to ObiV35's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
What they havent told you is that it is illegal to fit a different type of globe into a reflector designed for HID, so fitting the self levelling thing is the only correct thing to do... Just dont tell them that theyve asked you to do something illegal or theyll get upset .. i'd just take out the HID bulb and use the fog beam instead. There is no reason why you cant use the fog beam as a low beam. According to ADR's, the reflector is within the correct height tolerance from the ground, it is within the right distance from the cars width, and is the correct wattage, it only needs the beam height set... then once the car is signed off, go home and put the HID bulbs back in. happy days -
^^ exactly. Another reason why I also avoid organised cruises Police see event cruises, night driving, driving in crowded areas with windows down... as being for entertainment only and therefore a public niusance. driving here now is nothing like it was in the 90's.

yeh that show.... its at least 10 years old now so obviously tuning techniques have improved
