  1. its one of those chinese welders that you would throw over the fence out of frustration hahah
  2. it wouldnt be hard to change the interior trim. surely someone out there would be interested in the cream colour for a swap? mine has the tan suede interior, ive been looking for a wrecked 35 sedan with black interior to do everything from carpet to roof lining
  3. i was thinking the same thing when i passed a black r33 parked there last night...
  4. oh really? so just forged pistons are needed? hmmmmmmm getting me thinking
  5. should be similar to v35 sedan http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/402809-twin-exhaust-for-sedan/
  6. its always going to be a major job. electronics. if you like stripping your car down to a bare shell - meaning: taking the driveline, dash, loom all out and start from scratch.... do it. you could probably get the 2.5 rebuilt and modded using turbo internals and bolt ons... keeping all the VIN numbers matching... for a bit more $ hell you would almost be better off dropping in an SR20DET blacktop and 6 speed...
  7. its difficult to upgrade the motor... the ECU controls the motor and the dashboard The TCM controls the trans The trans needs to have the right instrument cluster for gear display so in theory, the whole lot needs to be changed its as easy as doing a V8 conversion
  8. can the pressure adjustment be reduced for just the 1-2 gear change? the other changes feel just right
  9. under instruction from the trans builder, i am not allowed to use full throttle until after 1000km and a re-check... so here is a short clip of about half throttle from standing start. thanks to my back seat passenger http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v716/sc850/V35/29A00525-E317-4F2A-9661-AE7C61D1A149-5894-000007E3A7B0C254.mp4 First to second... is quite grabby. Probably too harsh for my liking... we'll see if it eases up after bedding in...
  10. i agree. everything from the motor to the diff will fit, but the rear sections... no chance. the rear pipes will have to be lengthened and you'll have to get your spare tyre well removed or modified to the point where a tyre will no longer fit
  11. judging by my rear view mirror i would say yes Abe
  12. just passed what i would describe as THE best R34 GTR ive seen, including internet searches. on Goodwood road white, bit lowered, deep dish silver alloys, shiny as hell
  13. heres the diagnosis... upon disassembly, the guys found that the first clutch drum had failed. the friction plates should be retained by a large circlip - that clip had popped out, allowing the friction plates to travel past their correct location and eventually shave themselves down to nothing. this generated extra heat and extra load within the trans. The trans fluid in the pan looked like glitter paint. The 4 speed auto has only 5 friction plates in there, mine has now been upgraded to the turbo version 7 plate and drum assembly. the servos have also been discarded and replaced with new larger units from a turbo assembly. the solenoids have all been replaced for new the torque converter has been stripped down and rebuilt with all new internals and lastly, the valve body has had a custom upgrade (not transgo.... apparrently his are better) all this , including R and R, and a weeks labour.... $3050 The trans guy say this is THE way to upgrade the RE4R01B 4 speed auto box. In my opinion it is too much money to spend on a V35 upgrade unless youve already broken it, however it works out to being only $500ish more than buying and installing a second hand box from a wrecker..... so definitely better for the money. Will upload a vid to show the improvement next week
  14. hahaha nooo..... i have a history of converting my manual project cars to auto...
  15. in my 20 years of driving, ive only ever built classic cars which never had a trans code on the vin plate.... this is my first lemon gearbox in a new car
  16. another note: have researched the re4r01b gearboxes, turns out the ones fitted to the VQ motor has different input/output shafts to the RB version, plus the bellhousing..... so you cant assume that all those gearboxes will fit
  17. factory spec bands, solenoids, etc. just the modified valve body. theyve been recommended as a bit of a nissan specialist who do in-house component mods. the positive is, its just $1000 more than a replacement USED gearbox.... which i see as the better option
  18. trans was opened up today had a proper oil flush/replace 10,000km ago.... currently the fluid looks like red glitter paint. there is absolutely nothing left of the friction bands. And before you say it, NO i dont do burnouts. This is after normal use (by me). maybe the previous owners were not so kind... so its in for a complete rebuild plus trans kit. $3000 approx..... and the shift kit is the cheapest bit. this probably explains why my gearchanges have felt so slow and lethargic. unfortunately it gave no other warning signs, crunches or bangs, it just stopped working. Not stressed about it. Love the car to bits
  19. id have the car plugged up to a scantool so that it reads the fault when it happens...
  20. black 34 gtr henley waterfront..... i was on the loud scooter wearing leathers
  21. ^^ edit R34 4 speed auto, RE4R01B RC43 model, out of a HR34, not ER34 if you have a perfect one, even better
  22. WANT R34 4 speed auto trans RE4R01B model any condition, just want it for some research. PM me thanks
  23. does anyone happen to know the ID number for the 4 speed RWD gearbox in a 2001 model?
  24. the manufacturing process changed about 5 years ago from slow feed by hand to high speed automated... and we call em Vul-va's.... mostly pink with the red stuff in the middle and white furry bits all round and on topic - i just say STAJ, sounds like badge
  25. ^^ yep plenty incompatable variants out there. 4sp 4sp 4wd 5sp 6sp cvt8 to fit a different gearbox requires different loom and computer. no thanks and to think, not long ago i couldve bought a stagea for $4k and tranferred it all over - gearbox, engine, turbo, loom, ecu, 4wd, front panels.... one person has just said it could be a simple electronic issue... may just need the valves dropped and solenoids replaced (sounds easiest to me, lets hope so) another person has already suggested, if the gearbox comes out, to get the torque coverter stall rate increased.... as far as the transgo shift kit goes , ive only seen ones to suit 5 speed boxes... anybody seen them for the 4 speed RWD?
