I think you mean 'written off', not "ridden off"......unless you 'rode off' your car

That was an RB26-powered JZA80, not an R33. The 300kmh R33 run was filmed in Tokyo on the Wangan as correctly stated by the OP ....Smokey's a funny bloke. I had a chat to him about these infamous midnight runs and his trouble with the police when i was in Chiba. He didn't say much about them, just laughed and grinned through his gold teeth hahaha.....I also managed to get him to smoke up his own 35 for me right in front of their workshop!!

dammit i've wanted these for a while and i just saw this .................any chance NYTSKY?

Ok, let me get this out of the way first. I am well aware that the standard intercoolers on R34 GTRs flow very well and can handle in the vicinity of 370-380 awkw before they become too restrictive and an upgrade is needed. As it stands, my car is making power just shy of that and with some upgrades coming in the near future, I will be looking to upgrade my intercooler too. The car will not be a high-powered drag car (by high powered I mean a 500+ awkw monster) but it will be a super-street car I currently have two options bearing in mind cost and relative performance gains. I have heard and read everywhere that ARC cores prove the best upgrades in terms of response, flow, heat soak and pressure drop, but you pay dearly for this gain. So the options I've narrowed down to are the TRUST Spec-R HG which measures 302x710x115mm, and the HKS Type R which measures 700 x 304 x 103mm. I can get both for around $1200-1300 at the moment. Does anyone have experience with either of these and what are your thoughts on using them for power in the range of 380-410 awkw? My main concern is decreased response and pressure drop with the larger TRUST core. What should I expect? Also, with the 115mm thick TRUST core, will I need to cut away at my front bar to make it fit??

34 Gtr Ztune Carbon Fibre Bonnet
Iron Mike replied to chef_stagea's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
+1 LOL I think he means 'genuine carbon fibre' not 'genuine Nismo z-tune bonnet'. As nick_7g stated, the genuine Nismo ones are big bucks, usually around 5k, while all the copies (and there's plenty of them) are usually priced around $900-$1000 new. There are very obvious visual cues anyway that show whether it is in fact a genuine Nismo item, such as the presence of in-built water ducts on the underside of the bonnet - none of the fakes have these. -
Some bad ass DKB gang-banger must have popped the lock with a coat hanger and made a hasty dash before the LAPD arrived.... ..in all seriousness, I hope you get your car back. I just started a new job in Balwyn and thought it might be safe to park my GTR out back of work on the odd occasion I might drive it there. Oh well, there goes that idea...

Nissan Skyline R34 Gtr Z- Tune For Sale
Iron Mike replied to SiR_RB's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I once heard someone else make the same comment about 'only 19 z-tunes'. I take it they were not of the GTR-fan era that knew of the z-tune before its relesase (pre-2006) and therefore missed all the pre-release hype and publicity where Nismo regularly stated that 20 z-tunes were being produced for their 20th anniversary. I guess it's all one giant conspiracy theory and Nismo only turned 19!! Among other things I have even heard some people claim that 30 z-tunes were made and in different colours. My favourite rumour has to be held by these same people who believe that the midnight purple 'z-tune' that's floating around on the internet is a genuine z-tune from Nismo .....HAHAHA clearly they have no idea what they're talking about -
Nissan Skyline R34 Gtr Z- Tune For Sale
Iron Mike replied to SiR_RB's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Bobby that is correct - I only skimmed over the photos before and didn't notice. It was no.14 that came here first, correctly identified as 'John's' - The sound system you speak of was installed then removed. There was no modification required to do this as the standard GTR console already had everything in place for the sound system. I guess this information can now be shared publicly as it's in those photos! Well, there is no mystery no.20 and there is no substance in the "popular notion" - it is simply wrong. I don't know where this idea that only 19 z-tunes were ever made came from as the whole point of the Z-tune was to celebrate Nismo's 20th Anniversary by making 20 Z-tunes - That is common knowledge, it is public knowledge, and it is information that is readily obtainable from Nismo both in official documents and if you're really intereseted, by contacting them. Also, I was the one that mentioned the car had been sold to a person in Greece, not MrFijiGold - perhaps you should read things more carefully before speculating that things are a suspicious mystery. -

Iron Mike replied to Sammilburn's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
LOL +1. VERY good examples will sell for 7-9k. R34 GTTs are going for the price he's after, and R33 GTRs not much more -
hmmmm let me think......twin turbo 3L or single turbo 2.5L.........................................SUPRA!!!

Nissan Skyline R34 Gtr Z- Tune For Sale
Iron Mike replied to SiR_RB's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Sorry Raj, I will not share that information publicly for privacy reasons - I will however draw your attention to a particular issue of AutoSalon magazine from 2007 though, where they did a a feature on his car and it was showcased on the front cover. There are some details in there for you ps. To answer your question, no it was not the z-tune from the article you posted above. -
The grey R35 GTR that came riding up my ass today at about 10pm on Williamsons Rd in Donny. Saw a coupe pull up behind me at the lights. Looked like a V35 skyline who had something to prove. So I LOLd and ignored you....... Turned the corner, put a bit of boot in it just for fun and you kept up. I backed off stunned, and looked out my window only to realise it was in fact another GTR who wanted to play!! I couldn't - my clutch was slipping under load in 3rd and 4th ....and it's illegal LOL Nice meeting you Mr. Grey R35. Plates were X something something.

Nissan Skyline R34 Gtr Z- Tune For Sale

Bobby the car that was brought in was one of the original 20. The owner (through some connections he had in the international GT racing world) heard about the car well before it's public/media presentation, flew to Japan and went directly to Nismo to purchase it. In fact, he only spent 3 days in Japan and the whole trip was just to sort out the purchase of the car. This was probably 6 or more years ago so I don't think we are speaking about the same car or owner. I can get the build no. and other details if you would like, just PM me The car never had any sound system installed - the owner was a pedantic car collector and ex-GT driver. I guess in this light also, this is why he deemed the car to be laggy. He was comparing it to NA cars with 5 times the price tag and double the power output that picked up from 0. Also, to whoever was asking if it had been tracked the answer is yes. It was tracked in NSW before the owner had it transported to Melbourne. The very experienced driver/owner drove it both down the quarter mile and around a circuit (I forget which one) - this is what lead to him to speculate about Nismo's performance claims. I will not dispute these last 2 points. The z-tune to any real GTR fan was the top of the tree, the cherry on the cake. I guess it just boiled down to him wanting more performance when in reality, there are cars out there (albeit a lot more expensive) that will decimate a z-tune. -

For anyone who remembers the old HPI VHS' (and later DVDs) from the late 90s and early 2000s, I found this American version using the exact same footage and script, FTW!!! - Was this done on purpose by HPI to sell to an American audience, or did some yank just decide to remake Australia's greatest car mag videos for his buddies in a language they would understand (in either case, what's wrong with the Australian accent?)??? Check the links out for both and post your thoughts: ORIGINAL AUSTRALIAN VERSION: REMASTERED AMERICAN VERSION: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xmn0qv_high-performance-imports-v5_shortfilms#.Ubqz6Zz4GOc
