of course, labour is always the most expensive part. I was more referring to the actual part costs are expensive to build a seriously tough car these days.

an rb26 cannot compete with a 1/2j, especially when you start to modify. An interesting idea, I dont know how it'd go, especially the drivetrain part....

forging 1j/2j's isn't necessary unless your going to put silly amounts of power through them, as I said before they are tough as nails...both engines can handle massive amounts of power on stock bottom ends.

literage, torque, a turbo (in some cases) and small amounts of power. 1j 2.5l vs 2j 3l. Not a heap of differency both are tough as nails. Put it this way if I were going to choose and I had a budget to build on the 1j would have my vote. No budget may as well buy a newer 2j motor.
