I am going to Japan for a few weeks arriving 25th September. After the official work side of things I will have some time to myself to travel and explore. I was wondering if anyone knew of any exciting car related things that are happening around that time? I am also wondering if anyone knows where to catch the legal or illegal car street action I have seen on many videos’. Street drags, street drift, car parks filled with cool cars, car yards….etc… I am currently planning the itinerary and any input would be great. Leaving my beast in the loving care of my brother. Hope its in one piece when I get back!

Its a conspiracy to make us buy local cars. Old Aussie Bomb = Perfectly Legal. Import = Find anything to defect them. Its a bit rude if your car is legal then they try something so minor and keep going till they get something no matter how minor. Thing is this would go into their general statistics, which would make their numbers look better. Then Mr Mike Rann will say "The latest un-roadworthy car campaign we found thousands of cars they are not suppose to be on the roads"..... Its like the Police Blitz they had on the Adelaide to Victor Harbor road going back a while. They where going on that they caught 200 drivers in 3 days. TRUTH : * They had just changed the speed limit to 100 from 110. * They often had 3 camera's hidden within 4km of each other. * 200 may sound like a lot but According the Police Annual report 1.9% of drivers are speeding. Check out their annual report www.police.sa.gov.au. 6,000 people use this road daily and more on weekends. That is only 1.1% of drivers. ( I wonder how many of these where caught 3 times, or because the speed limit just changed ). * They started patrolling the neighbouring roads and these where also included in the 200. People where thinking 200 people in 3 days, that’s heaps, we have a problem.....if they got the full story they would realize this is well below the state average & people where caught several times. People will see that so many cars where defected and think that we have a problem, but if small things like incorrect tyre stickers are being reported how fudged are the Statistics they feed us on a daily basis.

I went down the road ( opposite way to where you left ) and took a right at the end of the street. I was going along for ages ( 2km or so ) and I came across a slow car ( 40 on a 70 for while ), he/she pulled 3/4 off the road and that is where he/she stayed. I overtook, didn’t go very hard cos I wasn’t in a hurry, just killing time, and the next thing I know there is a copper going hard in the rear view mirror. He had to stop because there was a car coming towards him and he couldn’t get around because the other car wouldn’t pull all the way off the road. Once he got past that he was still coming hard towards me still going hard, when I got to the end of the road I went right before the stream of traffic, I didn’t see him again. Damn, cop! I didn’t do anything, perhaps someone called the cops after you lot exitited the car park and they where still in the area? He didn’t do anything about the car that wouldn’t pull off the road when I was around, maybe he did once I left. He never had his lights or sirens on but was flogging his car to pieces, I have no idea what his problem was. What time did you lot leave?

I have a white R33 GTR VSPEC ( as the nick suggests, i couldn’t come up with anything 'exciting' at the time of sign-up ). I did not get caught by the cops that day, a few weeks earlier i was caught for "undue noise" if that was the incident you are referring to. Going down the road ringing its neck @ 3am. First ticket i have ever got and ive been driving for 9 years. I met up with one of your cruises when you where pulling into victor and there was no where to park after circling for a bit so you all parked in the Woollies car park and i had a chat to a few people while the rest of the group met up. I hope to goto the go-kart side of things, i have to do some work thou Hope it all fits in. -
If you get in trouble the outlook does not look good. Let me draw your attention to yesterdays advertiser.... http://www.theadvertiser.news.com.au/commo...55E2682,00.html A magistrate told a speeding driver "everyone does it" and that fines were "about revenue". He was strongly criticised for his words but this is where you come in.... The Magistrate was sentencing a driver caught doing 140km/hr in a 80km/hr zone. Although the Judge said these things he still "received the minimum six-month licence disqualification and a $300 fine." The driver said that the "excessive" sentence jeopardised his career as a mechanic." But the sentence still stood. If you get a Summons the outlook doesn't look good. Once i was out with a mate and he was tailgating a undercover cop back in 1998. He was pulled over, told he would receive a summons, 6 years later we are still waiting!

I think the Justice System depends on the amount of money you have. John Law's ( the radio announcer ) got off a speeding ticket when driving his R-Royce down a highway at high speed cos his lawyer argued that he was doing it in a safe car at a safe time. ( I guess a conservative judge would find a RR a "safer" car than a GTR Skyline which would probably have better suspension and brake package, could be wrong never driven a RR ) I guess you don't buy a RR to hoon, but I guess Skyline drivers are Stereotyped as being hoons. I think his lawyer showed a habit of good driving by Mr Laws before this event. I don’t know what your record is like but if your record shows a history of such actions they will use this against you. What time of Day / Night was this? As for what is going to happen, i have no idea....

advertiser 23 febuary "bomb squad to target road risks"

I wonder out of these 20,000+ defects where "safety Breaches" like brakes, tyres etc and how many where minor things like "Blow Off's", "Window Tint", "Cops being Cops" etc. I wonder from these 20,000+ where reversed because the cops got it wrong? The worst case of the defect station i have ever seen was in the city. Grenfell Street one Saturday night....They where only picking on imports, they littered the street abandoned there at the police request. I got past all this and noticed a rust bucket tarago van that had broken down on the street and the cops where helping push it off the road. There is no way this Tarago did not have pass the defect station. It is my assumption ( and a very good guess ) that the cops let it through cos it wasn’t an import. And what happened when it was pushed off the road? I have no idea, my guess the police would not have been interested in it, they may have even called the RAA for all i know. ( This paragraph is my assumption not based on any facts ). I rekon basic mechanics should be tought when going for your licence. You just have to demonstrate you can handle the basic things you see on the road + general road rules. Maybe they should extend this to include such skills as checking rejo, changing tyres, check for wear on tyres, oil..... After all if you become a pilot you have to know all about fuel mixtures, and how a engine operates etc.... -
I love the 1JZ-GTE engine, i bought one for a Cressida!

Hello, Im new to the group infact this is my first post.... From my experiences all the police pick on is modified cars. It is not road safety when blow off gets defected and a bomb goes free. I went through the city once and there was a defect station. They where defecting all the imports. Anyway down the road there was a rust bucket 1980's tarago that had broken down and the police where helping to push it off the road. I do not know how this car could have not passed the defect station. I do not know if it got pulled in and was let go, OR was let through, OR even if it was defected after being pushed to the side of the road. They where just pulling over imports. There where many more imports left 'stranded' along the side of the road ( no rust buckets ). I do not know for certain but they where probaby picking up people for minor things like blow off's. I have heard a 1st hand account of someone being defected for a blow off after the cops rung the crap outa the engine and it still didnt go 'woosh'. I think this is one battle we will never win. Cheers,
