James, I've just booked my birthday dinner for this Saturday for 9 people. Looking forward to trying out those famous ribs! Jason

thanks for the great drive today! hopefully I'll get to meet more of you on future drives. special thanks to the camera car and a damn shame about the cops. paul walker would've been proud of the cruise today. RIP mate

What do you reckon about dedicating this cruise in memory of Paul Walker? I'm sure most of us were big fans and had a big influence on why we're all driving skylines.
-
Hey guys, I might be able to come along tomorrow. This'll be my first cruise which sounds like it'll be awesome as I've never seen so many skylines in one place. Assasin, I ran into you on the City Westlink last weekend. Thanks for the heads-up on the cruise.

R34 Warning Lights - Tcs Off, Slip
Jay-C replied to Bill's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I may have had the same issue earlier in the year. the lights kept recurring for months! I looked up everywhere trying to figure out what was wrong and heaps of people said it was related to the coilpacks. I took it to a tuner to let them figure it out and it turns out my coilpacks were fine (in fact, they were still in very good condition). they said it was the throttle body, so they replaced it but the lights still came on! after a 3 weeks of them looking at it (yes, i kept taking it back because they said they "may" have fixed it even though it wasn't), they said it turned out to be that the ecu pins had been all bent up and therefore wasn't establishing a good connection. i don't know if it's true or not, but i haven't had any issues for more than half a year now. I hope that helps. jay -
Thanks for the responses. Yes, 34GTT i realise that post was for me to get a better idea of what it could look like. I'm not going to be taking the turbo out though so i'm hoping that i can tell just from the housing. i guess if it says "nissan" on it, it's stock.
-
It's for an R34 GTT. I know all cars can lose traction especially int he wet, but i was just wondering if there was something wrong with mine, or whether it's normal for me have enough time to adjust the throttle myself before traction control even kicks in.
-
Hi all, I've had my car for a few months now and there are some things which i can easily see were modified. However, I'm still not sure whether my turbo is stock or not. It already had a manual boost controller installed and it was turned up to max boost, which boosts beyond the reaches of the stock boost gauge. I'm worried that if it's a stock turbo, the turbo can't handle the boost and will blow soon. I don't want to turn down the boost (for obvious power reasons). Are there any tell-tale signs of a stock turbo? I can't see any signs or writing on the turbo without taking it out. It seems to be a bit rusted compared to the rest of the components next to it so I'm wondering if that's normal, or some second hand or aftermarket turbo in there. I'll put some pics up when i get a chance. Thanks guys, Jay-C

Hi guys, It's been raining a lot in Sydney these days and occassionally I'm slipping the back tyres. Traction control doesn't seem to kick in even though it's turned on. How much am I supposed to be slipping before traction control does something about it? Thanks Jay-C

Provisional Drivers To Be Banned From Driving On Friday, Saturday Nights?
Jay-C replied to Berk's topic in New South Wales
i'm so glad i got my Ps over and done with many years ago! there are so many restrictions nowadays and by the sounds of it, there are even more to come. i think it should be based on the history of the driver because it just makes it unfair for the good drivers. isn't that the whole point of having the 1 demerit point system for red Ps? it's all fine for the attorney-general and pollies to make all these rules because they don't drive themselves around nor do they catch public transport. they're so out of touch with transport, but i digress. -
Thanks, i'll look up the guys in marrickville. Anyone else with recommendations? What's sca?
-
hi all, just wondering where you guys recommend to get my GTT serviced in Sydney? obviously cheap would be good but i don't want a dodgy service by someone that knows nothing about performance cars. i used to get my prelude serviced by honda (rick damelian, which has gone bust now anyway) but i think i want to take my car to somewhere that knows more about skylines. i live around the inner west area, and i believe the car used to be serviced by envy imports but that's too far for me to go, plus they'd probably charge higher prices just being up on the north shore. thanks in advance!

are the heat shields (like these ones http://www.aponline.com.au/product.php?productid=16159) sufficient to pass a copper or does it need to be fully enclosed?
-
Hi guys, i bought my car with an aftermarket air intake in it. i believe it's an apexi of some sort and it currently is unshielded in the engine bay. my understanding of unshielded air filters was that they can be defected in NSW only if they're oil-based, and not if they're dry. is this correct or do i need to install a heat shield/box to cover it up? also, how do i know if my air intake is dry anyway? jay-c

thanks guys. it's a gtt with the usual mods (intercooler, air filter, exhaust) however as i bought the car with them all on, i can't be certain what exactly has been modded and tuned. the light flashes. i've been researching this a bit on the net and some people say that it's because the fuel cap isn't on tight enough and that there's supposed to be some pressure in the fuel tank (and it's supposed to hiss when you take the cap off). i've tightened it now (because it didn't hiss before) but haven't taken the car out for a spin to see if this had any effect. i'm just going to take it in for a service since rego is nearly up anyway. i'll just get them to do a pink slip and get them to do an overall service on the car and see if any issues come up. jay-c

Hi guys, I've noticed the check engine light coming on a few times when i'm driving, which is beginning to worry me since i just got my car. it's appeared in the following scenarios: - low fuel (fuel light just came on) and i could feel a sudden drop in power as i slowly moved from a standing start. - heavy acceleration and boost and it came on as i lifted my foot off the accelerator to change gears. (lots of fuel in the tank) does anyone know why this would be happening and should i be getting this checked out by a mechanic? thanks jay-c

hi all, it's great to finally be here! got an R34 GTT recently and man, i'm loving it. i look forward to being part of the skyline community, although i'm somewhat new to skylines and posting stuff so i'm sorry if i don't know everything there is to know about skylines and posting on this forum. by the way, anyone know where i can get an inner wheel splash guard? my car didn't come with it and because the air intake area doesn't have the airbox or much protection from the outside and i'm afraid of hydrolock when i drive over massive puddles. jay-c
