Crazy Luke's speed shop ( check out his Facebook) I know it's not in Sydney but if you can't find anyone locally you are happy with Luke does awesome work and has made more than his fair share of custom 26 manifold

bit of an update.... though not a massively exciting one. I had to redo all the painting and sanding again because nylon is a complete pain! because i'm only painting thin layers at a time it's rather hard not to sand through the paint and as soon as you touch the nylon it sort of threads ( for lack of a better term) which does not sand well and can be seen through layers of paint. But i have got there in the end with a surface finish that im happy with and currently have the main part in the solution creating a mould here are a few photo's just of why i didn't 3D print the entire part and why I have wasted many hours sanding and painting a little plastic block, when you compare the surface finish straight front the printer simply isn't good enough.

Hi everyone, I'm soon to get a set of these made for myself locally and was wondering if anyone else is interested? Can do individual parts but would ideally have between 3-5 people interested. Cost wise its looking to be around $550 a set ( price will be confirmed though when there are definite numbers) I know the price is significantly more than the original run but it would still come in being sub $800 on the car and running while most other kits are $1000+. More than anything it highlights how much effort Cameron went into originally to get this organised for everyone at the best price he could! I have adjusted the original files slightly to suit easier to get fasteners which seemed to be a small issue originally but other than that really they are as Cameron designed. Please pm me or post here if you are interested and I can get the ball rolling. Thanks, Nic

didn't get much time over the weekend... and it's a real pain/slow to sand nylon (needed filler and 6 coats of primer to get a decent surface finish) but both parts are painted and should be able to clear coat tomorrow afternoon... then more sanding.... then hopefully making the mould! all going to plan I would like to do other models for stagea, s series and the different r series... but need these to work well before i get ahead of myself. now back to making the design for the globe holder so it stays water tight and can actually light up thanks for reading

little bit of an update... most of the parts I need to get this underway have arrived, the 'G' and 'T' acrylic inserts look to be the right size which is a good start - the letters aren't exactly the same size as factory but due to how the original badge is designed it looked uneven when both tiles are the same size. my 3D printed pieces- which are going to be used to create the moulds and the tooling to hold the g/t tiles correctly while the resin sets. and finally the acrylic resin. so hopefully this weekend ill get some time to sand, prime and paint the 3D printed pieces to give a nice smooth surface to make the moulds from, until then thanks for looking

I had planned on originally 3d printing them but there are a few reasons i decided against it; 1. i want this factory sized, so I'm limited to what size/wattage globe a can use and really for it to be anything more than a dull glow in pitch black it needs to be crystal clear. 2. plastic that's UV stable isn't generally clear, and if it is it's not a standard 3D printed media. 3. 3D printing would mean either the gt coloured sections would need to be glued in separate pieces, or painted.... i don't have a steady enough hand to paint that.. so means paying someone else to.... for it to peel off after one summer worth of sun. the gt coloured parts are set inside the cast acrylic so colour shouldn't fade, glued parts can't fall out and it gives a nice smooth surface to polish 4. 3D printing isn't cost effective, along with it having to be a non standard media which means a specialist....who will charge like a specialist. I'm planning on selling these for <$100 a pair, the 3D printed parts will be near on that which will still need sanding (3D printers don't give a smooth surface) and painted..... more money and more time. I'm not trying to shoot down your idea more just show I have thought about it already and I couldn't make it work haha. thanks for your input

gt badge side indicators Hi everyone, If you are like me you will have always hated the ADR requirement of needing a side mounted indicator (it's up there with the 3rd brake light rule!), cutting holes in aluminium gtr guards to fit hideous generic indicators.... well I have hopefully came up with a solution! At the moment I have the design made and I'm working on actually creating the real deal of making a gt badge looking equivalent (as you see on every skyline) into a ADR approved side indicator. the part will be UV resistant acrylic resin to withstand the harsh sun and hopefully look similar enough to not even be noticed until it's flashing. I am hoping to sell these on if all prototyping going well ( and may even do ones to suit specific other models) but at this stage it's just a bit of a test and I guess a gauge of interest. the current design is based on a 32 gtr badge, same dimesions of the shield but it will stick out 14mm instead of roughly 10mm the stock badge does. thanks for any input

wa [sold] Rb26 X Force Turbo Manifolds
Navara96 replied to Navara96's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
SOLD, please remove -
As you can probably see the interest since pricing went up was well... less than great. But ohh well that happens. I did get a prototype printed though just to see how well I did recreate the part and I am very happy with how close to original it is if anyone does want the file please just pm me just keep me in mind if you do find a cheap way to get these made! Thanks guys

i have spoken to a few company's, the one that seems to stand above the rest is Solid Concepts, they have a base here in WA and also Singapore. They have answered everything I have annoying asked them and understand the use/purpose to ensure that if this does go forward the product is more than up for the task and the finish is on par if not better than the originals. the 2 options i have been given are; 1. SLS nylon production- makes very low quantities viable but isn't the best suited to the job, it's only available in white ( so will require painting) and the final product is from a 3D printer as such the finish straight from the machine may need sanding/ tidying up. 2. vacuum casting, firstly a set of master copies will be printed sanded/ cleaned/ finished before being used to make a silicone mould from which the final PP/ABS pieces will be made. the advantages being a completely finished cap ready to install with a professional finish quality and available in different colours ( probably matte black to resemble the orginals?). the downsides being the initial cost to produce the mould, to make less than 20 units the cost just is not worth it.... so on to that. COST; really option 2 is the best option and the one i'm hoping to get enough support for to go with, at 20 units the price would be $80-90 a piece or $320-360 a set. I know this isn't cheap for a set of "fakes" but quality wise I am confident it would at least equal the originals ( likely better), I don't stand to make any money on the caps so it's not that there is a mark up on anything... its simply not cheap to create these low number runs. The mould can potentially be used for 20 sets (80 units) until they expect it to degrade so if there is enough interest (10+ sets) we could expect prices to drop $10-15 a piece but finding that many interested people may be difficult so if you do know somebody please let them know! I am happy to do a production run with 5 people ( 20 units) but can't justify it for any less than that, so please let me know if you are interested still and i can get a definitive quote and get the ball rolling thanks guy and if you have any questions feel free to ask Nic

i haven't forgot about this guys, just speaking to a few about costs and the best way to get the results i'm after, hopefully over the next few days i will have a solid update
-
I am by no means an expert but have pulled 2 or 3 out, so I'm happy to help and meet a few new people if you need a hand
-
so.... if anyone is still interested the cap is done!.....well the file at least, the mounting tabs were a pain but hopefully they work properly ( they are the same dimensions as originals so they should). Now to find someone to print it.
-
just need to get the bottom section with the mounting tabs sorted (probably finish it tomorrow night or tuesday) but overall it matches the centre cap i have here quite precisely so hopefully this week i can look into getting a prototype printed! if anyone here knows somebody or a company to go through to get them printed please let me know thanks

Hey guys, sorry I have been busy working on a few other projects but I'll try get the solid works file finished tonight and can post up some photos
-
Hi guys, I'll start of by saying I'm no professional, really I'm doing this just to improve my solid works skills and hopefully end up with a replacement set of centre caps I can use. But I am planning on 3D printing a set of Ray's centre caps to fit lmgt 2's ( may fit 1's aswell?) as anyone with the caps know the plastic gets brittle and the mounting tabs snap off! I have seen sets go for over $600 in good condition... But really they are still 20 years old . All going well the final product will be made of abs plastic ( unless anyone has an opinion for otherwise?) yet to see wether there will be the ability to colour match to the originals otherwise more than likely black , cost I am unsure of yet.... I was going to see if there is any interest first so I could enquire for x amount of caps and see what happens but hoping around half the cost. All the dimensions and measurements are being taken from a genuine centre cap and I will get a mock cap made up first to ensure fit. Is this something anyone/ones would be interested in? Nothing final just a gauge of interest at this stage. Thanks!

Hey guys, as the title says I'm wanting to buy a Full Race ETS-pro, but with the aussie dollar being so poor at the moment meaning that even the shipping is $150! I was hoping someone from here happened to buy one before the dollar went to shit and are happy to part with it thanks! Nic
