    New Pipe!!!

Nice work ylwgtr. Looks good. How about a few pics of the rest of the car? Mick.
  2. Dont get me wrong I am not saying to take the ABS out but what that people can if trained correctly brake better and shorter than a car with ABS. All ABS systems become active only once the wheel has locked and then will pump the brake taking the tyres to the point of loosing traction and then backing the brake off again, then pressure again and so on ans so on. A trained driver on the other hand can feel the point before the tyres loose traction and therefore never looses the distance lost by ABS when the tyres are locked even though it is only for a very small distance. Even with a car with ABS you want to keep your braking just short of wear it comes in. This is the ultimate braking point. The ABS can pick up were you make a mistake, get a rush of blood. However I cannot concur that threshold braking takes so constant concentration but more is a matter of pratice and therefore conditioning. Once a driver has practiced the technique to the point were it is conditioned too them that this is the way to brake it no longer becomes a matter of concentration but simple a matter of this being the way that they apply pressure to the brake. Same as people learn to Opposite lock without having to think about it, even turing the steering wheel becomes conditioned once people start to drive. The difference with braking is we think that it is some difficult technique and do not have people practice it to the point were it becomes a conditioned responce as it should be. Certainly ABS can make up for your mistakes but by simply not having BAS this should not mean that you are in greater risk if you are prepared to condition your driving. Like I said above. Any truly good driver is constantly and activly working on one aspect or another to improve their driving same as if they were pratcing to be a better sportsmen. Driving is something we do everyday but something we truly practice very little. Mick.
  3. Ok two points. A well trained driver is better than all but the best ABS systems. When people come to us to do a driving course we will pull the fuss on the ABS and teach them to drive. Without too much work they will beat their braking distance. If they then continue to practice the technique and get conditioned too it they will be able to do it in day to day driving. An example of this was in a recent test day we did with one of the first Falcon's that had ABS we were pulling the car up 9 feet shorter without the ABS than with it. Train yourselves to break. Practice it. Make it automatic and you will be a better driver. Any truly good driver is contantly and actively thinking how to improve their driving. Secondly I own a GTR with 240rwkw and in the wet I gan give it all it has got in second gear and not break traction (well not very much anyway). Do that in a rwd car. The 4wd does make a massive difference. It is very flatering to your driving making you seem much better than you are. Mick.
  4. Do an advanced driving couse so that you learn greater car control, including breaking techniques. Also as said above nothing other than the driver is as important to your car than good tyres. And I mean good not just new. Mick.
  5. I am 30 but I only pay $900 odd.
  6. Mine is one of those cars. There are many others that I know of who have run this way for some time now without any dramas. At this range I have seen every bit as much Horse out of a car with standard comp as Power fc. Once you go higher than this then sure you need a PFC, but you also need injectors, different turbos etc. It is a big step, but if you are not looking to go higher then this then in my opinion from what I have seen on the dyno there is no benefit from the power fc. Just in the guy you choose to do the tuning. vspecv, Today is the big day. Tick tock. Good luck. (and I want a ride ) Mick.
  7. I can't say for sure but I would Ben at Race Pace in Bayswater and ask him about what you want done. I saw a plenum that he had mod the other day and it looked real nice. Give him a call and ask the question. Mick.
  8. I agree with this. vspecv, Your 34 looks lovely. Should be a sensational car once finished. Mick.
  9. Dont walk, RUN out and get them. Well worth it. Dont know about the HKS ones. Mick.
  10. I have driven many M3's and two M5's and I can assure you they go hard. They are a very impressive car. One of a few cars that you can hop into and drive fast straight off. Very well balanced. I would think that my GTR would kick them but they are still very impressive cars. I saw a white 32 gtr in Brighton Saturday week ago along beach road about 9-9.30 when I was driving mine. Wonder if it is the same car. Mick.
  11. Croydon.
  12. The cam gears are standard ones that are modified by an engineer. Heaps of other done with no troubles. They were done through ICE Performance and dialed in by Ben at Race Pace. Peak power was still 200 odd with the AFM fixed and gears not dialed in. We uped the boost one pound (15.5 pound I have a 33 motor etc in the car) and dialed the cams in and it just touched 240 on the knocker. But like I said it is the way it does it that is so impressive. It comes on so much stronger so much lower. No wear near as peaky. It is going well at 2000, really strong by 3000 and over 200rwkw by 4200. It is juts so much more drivable. It was great before but is heaps better now. The engine is a lot smoother too (and I thought it was bloody smooth before). Ben believes that I could get 250 if I got rid of the cat and got more radical with the timing but I think I will keep it as is for a while. It is very impressive. It is a big change. If you want too PM me a fax number (my scanner has gone kaput at the moment) and I can fax the dyno sheet too you. The difference on paper is massive through the mid range. The difference in real is even better Mick.
  13. Ok finished dynoing the car last night. Took ten runs to get it right with lots of tinkering in the mean time. Got 240rwkw in the end but most impressive of all is the way that the car feels now. Smoother, far more low down throttle responce. It has over 200kw at 4200rpm. It is very toey down low. Far more responsive and much nicer to drive. It feels heaps smoother and easier to drive off boost (not that it was difficult b4 but it is way different now). So BoOsTed go for it. It is a big difference. Well worth it. Just take your time and set them up correctly. Every car is different and needs slightly different settings. Mick.
  14. Should not be a problem if you stay 1 bar or under.
  15. Will let you know as soon as I do. The other day we had 204rwkw but that was with it leaning out like crazy at the top end and with 13 odd pound. I have just today replaced the AFM which were stuffed and it has picked up heaps. Mick.
  16. I will tell you saturday after I have dialed mine in. I have just fitted them this week and will be putting it on the dyno Fri/Sat to set it up properly. I have boost up, turbo back exhaust, pods, and now the cam gears. Should be pretty similar to yours. Will let you know. Mick.
  17. Adjustable cam gears no doubt. Best mod for that money no question. Generally power FC want be worth it unless you are looking to change Turbos etc. Mick.
  18. Yes. Made a very noticable difference to my car.
  19. I'd second that. Grab it. Look for fluid around the tranfer case to the front diff (can show it has had a hard time) and lift the back plate from the top of the box. Will give you a look at the back end where all the broken bits will go. Also look for any corrosion on the bearing here. Mick.
  20. Whether or not you call something broke is a matter of opinion. If you like slow but showie it is cool but it is up to you. Me, I'll take fast. Hey if I want to bring the tail out I will turn it down. Never said I wanted the car to understeer. Last thing I want. I always want the car to stay more tail driven and steer from the rear but not like it did standard. Spectaular? Sure. Fun? Sure. Fast? No. The GTR is vastly superior to the WRX in the handling stakes but it is not perfect. For me all cars are rated in terms of potential. How good can I make it? I have put Mod Exhaust, air pods, boost controller, with Adj Cam gears to come, to make it better in the performance stakes. The torgue splitter just does the same thing but for the suspension. Improves what is there. Mick.
  21. Once again I cannot talk about the HKS units. But in the one I designed as described above the torgue splitter would be lucky to bring the front diff in less than 1% of the time more. It will not make it run 50/50 if ever and cartainly not all the time. It only allows the fron wheel to drive more once the Long/sensor has brought then in through acceleration.
  22. Yes the original one was based on the Autospeed design as written about by Julian. The next lot will be a lot different though.
  23. Dont get me wrong I am in no way trying to make the car behave like a WRX does. I found the WRX's to be a very disapointing car in the handling department. I just want the front wheel to come into action far earlier and stronger in the corners than the manufacturer designed. I like the car to be more neutral and thus faster in the corners. Granted it is less exciting.
  24. I'm sorry 400Hp but I dont understand the question. What do you mean by interceptor? Mick.
