  1. Cheers Richard, I really appreciate the time you guys have spent helping us out. I've got receipts for the rebuild that total nearly 20 grand so we were very shocked when ESP told us 12-15 grand to rebuild it. I'm hoping to get out to the place in queenbeyan that zebra suggested last night to have a chat with them. So we'll go from there. Unfortunately I don't have the space or know anyone who has the space for me to be able to pull out the engine so we may have to factor that into our costs of the rebuild
  2. wow i have never even heard of that place before. might see if i can duck out from work tomorrow to go have a chat to this guy. id be more than willing to pull the engine out with a few mates but the main problem i have is that i have nowhere with enough room lol
  3. if yours is the black on black soarer then I've spotted you a couple of times in the last 10 months since i moved down this end of town. current engine lost oil pressure very suddenly cruising at about 150km/h and instantly developed a nice clunk. i would be more than happy to get this engine rebuilt if it was going to work out to be about the same price as the swap we're thinking of doing. our budget for the swap is $7000. so thats $2500 that ESP quoted us to do the swap and then about $4500 to purchase an engine. the things I'm most worried about are we don't know how bad a shape the current engine is in until its opened up and who do we get to do the work seeing as i can't do it myself
  4. current engine has a REALLY bad knock. had ESP have a look at it and they said definitely a rebuild and to budget for between 12-15k. current engine was rebuilt about 25000k ago in melbourne, so forged internals, r33 crank, n1 oil and water pumps, and also n1 block, reconditioned head. unfortunately not being incredibly mechanically minded, at least when it comes to the internals of an engine, i'm relying on what places like ESP are telling me
  5. hmmm thats not cool. the plan for the moment is to keep it as simple as possible and then as funds permit, slowly rebuild the dead engine we pull out ready for the day when the engine we put in dies lol
  6. but you asked exactly what i was going to so its ok lol now...91 model rb26's aren't the updated version thats pretty much the same as the r33 rb26 is it?
  7. Sinista32 you beat me to posting on the thread for fatz engine
  8. will give him a call first thing tomorrow.
  9. its the engine fatz is selling yeah.
  10. do you have any pics of it? all JZA70's were manual with the R154 yeah? unfortunately i can't tell just by looking if the engine will have a long pump drive. but I'm not particularly fussed about a warranty. i only know of 1 complete rb26 being sold in the for sale section on here
  11. ok lets back-track a little bit..... so the new car is a JZA70 or is going to be a JZA70? are you getting it from canberra? coz i thought there were only about 10 A70's at most in the ACT lol I WANT PICS!!!!! and also a ride in it coz i've never even been in a 1J powered car lol now back on topic.....it completely slipped my mind that late model R32 rb26's were ok. the problem we're having at the moment is tracking one down in good condition.... can you guys think of any places i can call? I'm waiting for import monster and justjap to get back to me at the moment but the toy shop said they don't really have anything
  12. Lol I know what that's like. I waited months and months to get my hands on a GTR....and then I spun a bearing in less than 36 hours of ownership. So now it's back to thumb twiddling until its fixed haha
  13. Oh ok that's alright then lol Thought I was going to be left wondering for weeks!
  14. Awesome, that's exactly what I needed to hear! Car is booked in to have the swap done in 2 weeks....better get my hands on an engine :S So are you gonna get another Toyota or something completely different? I want clues!
  15. Have a stupid question that I can't find an answer for... Have an R32 GTR that needs a new engine. Wondering if an R33 or R34 rb26 will go in easily without having to replace anything? My 32 has a power fc, would I need to change to an r33 or r34 power fc? Cheers, Drew
  16. Yeah definitely no 7m powered ones. Such a shit engine haha. Zebra, got anything in mind for a new car?
  17. Haha no way how come? Do you want something else instead? I've got an a70 in bits if you want it? Haha
  18. I swear I've seen that one before....but I really don't like them wingless haha
  19. That was the dream car back in the day. Wanted to put a 1j in mine but ended up buying an sw20 instead. Then after my bad luck with toyotas decided to try Nissan lol. You've got a soarer don't you? Only ever driven an auto v8 soarer, ive never had the chance to drive a car with a 1j
  20. SO PRETTY! My first car was an a70. BHG FTW lol. It's still sitting in my garage although in a gagillion peices haha
  21. Actually I don't mind it either lol. Massive fan of the A70 dash though
  22. Stupid iPhone won't let me watch awesome skids But yeah theyre not to keen on skids that aren't done on the skidpan, in the water...so there's no smoke. In saying that though they like to get you to push hard and if need be use the edges of the pan (bits not soaked in water) to get really big long slides. Veilwest can link the whole thing in his widebody s15
  23. The exhaust on dads 32 is in 2 parts from the cat to the end. Cat to about half way (rear axle ish) is straight through, no muffler/resonator type thing, connected to the rear section by a 2 bolt flange, then from that flange there's maybe 2 feet of pipe which curves to go under axle then welded to the rear muffler which is a cannon/hotdog type jobbie. 3inch from cat to the end
  24. Ah ok so it's like a removable rear muffler basically?
