Being a really-close-to-stock car (apart from MBC andexhaust), do the revs seem like they're in the correct range though? I initially posted this thread because I wasn't sure if my revs are reading low as compared to other videos I've seen of cars when boosting. Also the tacho does a slow rise up to the 4k RPM range. I also am not 100% sure on what exhaust I have (previous owner didn't put it on and doesn't know what the owner before him put on either), but i'll save that for another day/thread, or might just take it to a shop and ask lol.

Ok i just took a drive to mount druitt westfield from work. oh wow your tacho rockets up. Mine definately doesn't do that or even reach anywhere that high I cant hear the videos because I'm at work atm. What camera did you guys use to record? I've tried my phone (Galaxy SII) but it doesnt work too well for audio :\

yep same deal. i never used to free-rev past 3000 RPM because the revs sounded high, but i have been recently to the 3-4k mark to test my new boost gauge and it still sounds like engine is stressing a little bit, but the BOV goes off now when free-revving to the higher range. lol

ok cheers, i'll check on lunch break. I haven't had any whiny noise, i think it's moreso the engine just revving really loudly at the 3-4k range. Had a look at acceleration dash videos on youtube, and they all make it 5-7k RPM whilst on boost easy. So now i'm definately convinced something is wrong :\ weird because it always seemed normal to me, and i've been driving it around for over a year now.

I've been driving this way for almost a year now (in terms of shifting at around 2500-3000RPM and those speeds) and i always thought it was normal. lol but now that you say it isnt, im worried. Will definately get a video up this arvo. Not sure how the sound quality will be (i've tried recording a drive once and you cant really hear anything), but hopefully will help :\

yeh sounds familiar lol, normally i shift around 2.5-3000 RPM which usally looks like this: 1st: 0-20km/h 2nd: 20-40km/h 3rd: 40-60km/h 4th: 60-80km/h 5th: 80+km/h It doesn't SCREAM at this point, like it's normal and safe (sounding), but when im boosting from 2nd, my revs don't exactly reach over 3.5-4k very easily but the revs sound high.

hmm ok, I'll try provide one later this arvo. It reaches up 3k RPM pretty easy, but is slow to go any higher. It still climbs, but not very fast :\

So i've been reading around and watched some youtube videos of people driving with their revs up as high as 7 or 8000RPM. I don't take my car on track or anything, but when i'm boosting on the roads and i reach up to 3100 RPM(ish), it sounds like my car is going to blow or something if i don't shift. Just wondering... why? How come i can't even reach 4000RPM without sounding like something under the hood is going to pop?? lol Or am i being a pussy and just shifting too early?

Did you take out the parcel shelf and make a custom box to fit the sub and place it there? I want a way to install my sub so it doesn't consume boot space lol.

thanks for the input guys. I've gone with the apexi one from nengun. Works a treat, and the sound is a lot more distinct than the cheapo one i got from supercheap a year ago lol.

lol anyone know any other medium to contact aggroman? btw shinobi, you have a GTT right? how you get your front grill area look like the GTR one? Is it because of your front bar, or did you alter it? looks sick, i want! haha

I remember having a look around few months ago on ebay, there's a large selection, but would most of them look the same in terms of the crystal LED look (whilst the lights are off). I know there's different actual LED pattern styles when the lights are on.

I'm looking to buy an Apexi high flow panel air filter here in Australia, but i'm not sure where to get one. I tried both supercheap and autobarn, but they only sell k&n. I want an apexi one because I don't have to maintain it by re-oiling it every few thousand km. I see that nengun.com sells them at a good price including shipping, but not sure on how fast they are at shipping. Any experience with them? cheers!
