thanks for the quick reply. Just wondering where both the oil and fuel filters are located? I think I know where the fuel filter is, but not 100% sure. I've attached a photo, is this the fuel filter? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v309/aznspec/filter.jpg

hey guys, I want to do an oil and oil filter change, but i haven't dont it before. I want to learn how to do it, and i've watched a few videos and it doesn't seem too hard at all. I have a 98' r34 GTT. A few questions I do have is: 1. WHERE exactly is the filter located? Would i need to jack the car up or is it somewhere in the engine bay that I can easily locate? A photo of where it is in a r34 GTT would be great (I've searched around in the forum and google but couldnt find an answer) 2. WHAT is the best type of oil I could use? I went on the section in the forum reading "the goods on oils" but i dont really understand it. Also, one that isn't too expensive. 3. What type of oil filter do i need? One that I can readily get from a store like autobarn or supercheap auto or something, and not have to wait for delivery online, but also one that won't kill my engine lol. Anyways, sorry for the noob questions, but I want to learn how to work on my car and everything. Thanks!

Te37 Or Varrstoen Offets
suwidji replied to suwidji's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
hey thanks for the link, Like i said, i'm new to tyres/rims and just wondering how to find out the rim and tyre width of what i have? On my tyre it says "235/45 17" I know the "17" is my rim diameter, but i don't know the tyre width or the rim width im running at the moment. Sorry, i probably sound really dumb lol, but yeh just wanting to learn -
Hey guys, Im looking at getting a new set of rims. Was going to get te37's, but they're way too out of my price range, so I'm looking at getting the Varrstoen te37 replica's. I have stock 17's on my r34 gtt, with no mods on suspension or anything. I want an awesome concave look, but im not sure what the best offset for me would be because I'm a beginner with rims. Just wondering if anyone could post photo's or give me advice (or both?) to as what the best offset would be for a great concave look, without having to roll any guards or worrying about it effecting my driving/handling. This is the type of concave look I want: http://www.flickr.com/photos/21305018@N02/6343962604/ http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2759/4069703590_fa2b605c72_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2471/5735999005_03950fd01e_z.jpg thanks!

I went in for my major service about 5000km ago, and the guy told me that i would need a new clutch soon. I have either a push or pull type (not sure which one, but the one that makes the clutch pedal move higher and higher the more worn out it is). I was just wondering what type of clutch should I get, and where can I get it for the best price? I have a 98 r34 GTT (manual obviously lol) I don't take my car to the track or drive is on boost regularly, so basically just for normal driving- so i don't need any high performance race clutch or anything. I'm really noob when it comes to clutches, so if anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be great!! Thanks

hey guys, I had a few scratches on the side of my car, and i was going to touch it up with some touch up paint, and then use a cutting compound to bring it back to level... BUT it turned out a LOT uglier than i expected, and the cutting compound did nothing. I ended up getting lumps over the places i painted (even though i tried my best to paint it evenly) and whenever i use the cutting compound over the paint, it never looks like it's even getting closer to the paint level of the rest of the car. I've been doing it by hand, because i dont have an orbital polisher, but i spent about an hour on it and the level of the touch up painted parts look the same as when i started using the compound :\ here's a photo of it, Help please?

that's the only pic i could get of the car with that bumper. I found it on one of the threads found on this forum, but everyone who has it has a white one
-
any photoshop experts?? I want to know how it'd look before i decide to buy it

Hey, Could someone please change the colour of this r34 to black? I want to see what the front bumper would look like on a black r34. I've tried myself, but failed lol. Thanks!

Hey guys, I'm also interested in buying this front bar from viva, however I'm not too sold on the bonnet lip from the photo's i see from the first page of this thread lol. I have a black gtt, so hoping it would look good with this front bar. Shinobi, when you said to shave off some of the pillar things to make it line up with the bonnet, how would go about doing that? Just for future reference if i end up going with this bar lol. Thanks!

1998 R34 Gtt - Immaculate Qld
suwidji replied to wilorichie's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
sorry this is off topic, but im curious to where you got that GTT badge from? -
I want to attempt to do the 100,000km service on my own, but I can't find a D.I.Y thread here on the forum If there is one, could someone please link me to it, or make one so i can follow it, with pics too? I basically need a guide on changing the timing belt, water pump, idler, tensioner, crank and cam seals. The fluids i can manage on my own, but it's just the rest i need help with. Please and thank you!

thanks for the fast reply! Yeh i was looking at just jap for the pump and ebay for the others, but the kit i found is still cheaper than everything if i source them out individually. It's $380 which includes : 1 Bando timing belt 2 genuine Nissan camshaft seals 1 genuine Nissan crankshaft seal 1 genuine Nissan tensioner spring 1 genuine Nissan Water pump 1 NSK tensioner bearing 1 NSK idler bearing Is this a good deal on service parts in your opinion?

I'm about to have the 100,000km major service done on my car, however before ringing around I was thinking of sourcing my own parts on ebay and hopefully it'd be cheaper if i were to take it to the mechanics than have them sourcing the parts for me. I found this kit, and the timing belt is a brand called "Bando Power Ridge". I was just wondering if anyone has heard of the brand and could recommend using it? The seller says it's made in Japan, and I just wanted to know if anyone knows anything about the brand at all or if i should stay away from it? The service kit is selling for approx $380 incl, water pump and all timing belt, tensioner etc. How much would the labor be (approx) if i were to get my own parts and take them to the mechanics? Any help would be great, thanks!

-
uhh ok. yeh didn't do much lol, maybe i'll change to a lower temp one. is the 4700k a white light or standrard yellow/orange? I only got the 8000k ones cos it's a white light :\

I just installed H1 8000K xenon headlights (lo-beams) and tested them out tonight. I didn't receive anyone flashing me or anything but when i walked out of the car and stood a few metres infront of it, i couldn't even see my car and was just blinded! When i'm driving down the motorways, all the signs light up from AGES away and it looks like i have high-beams on constantly. Could anyone please help me out and let me know if it's normal, or how to adjust the intensity so it's a lot more... "mild" ?? I have a feeling that if i drive it around for a longer period of time, i'll get flashed, beeped at and maybe even pulled over by the cops cos it's too bright :\ Thanks!

*bump? anyone know?

thanks for the replies guys I'll also give em a call and see how much the service would be. Hornsby is a lot closer than five dock to me. Thanks!

Hey guys, I have a 98 r34 GTT and my boot won't open! You need 2 people to open the boot When i lift up the lever from the driver's side, it unlocks the actual boot, but it wont lift up by itself unless another person is there to lift it open. My dad's helped me out and narrowed the problem down to those hydraulic arms inside the boot. He says they're not strong enough anymore to lift the actual boot up when unlocked. Does anyone else think this is the problem, and if so, do you know where i can get replacement parts for it so my boot will actually open and approx how much it'll be? lol There's 2 of these hydraulic arms in the boot that lift it open. (sorry if it's not an actual hydraulic arm, but i don't know what else to call it) thanks!
