Sau A.c.t. - What Did You Do To Your Car Today?

I spent all day working on the car but just taking all the pipes off and loosening all the nuts and bolts, a few hours tops. I sprayed all the nuts and bolts with a penetrant the last couple of days to about snapping anything and I think it paid off. Just watch out when taking out the banjo bolts for the water lines. Have a bucket ready to catch all the coolant. Putting it back on tomorrow after i change oil i can't imagine it would take too long maybe 2 hours or so if no manifold studs snap replacing the gasket. I highly recommend getting a genuine nissan turbo gasket kit. It even includes new copper washers for the oil and water feed lines (if you are still using the stock hard lines) -

It was hard to tell with all the oil from the hammered turbo :S ahaha It's just a standard turbo bryce, not going to go a highflow any more. Putting a standard one on while i save for a 3076r or a gtrs and ecu. -
haha the exhaust wheel of my old turbo.

Glad you could make some use out of them man, they were just taking up room here. It looks a lot nicer than the 33 seat too. It was real comfy on long trips to the north coast. My old man uses the final inspection before shows and club runs and loves it. oh, i didnt tell you ahaha i could move the wastegate rod up and down, the wastegate flap wasn't even sealing very well...i really don't know how it ran like that or how long it had been doing it. The rattle coming off throttle makes sense if the rod and wastegate were moving around. This one has all it's exhaust fins too. Weird though, mine was a 45V1, this one is a 45V4 but both OP6, both look identical, i imagine the new one is off a later model 34 though the compressor fins look the same as mine, still nylon not steel. -

Seat looks good man. The bracket wasn't too hard to make up? -

Had a big day today. Turbo off....that took it's time, I don't think it had ever been off so lots of care to not snap any studs. Got it off and found this. Glad i'm replacing it haha. Swapped over the studs and elbow and added a 10psi actuator. Will throw the new one on tomorrow. Also painted the cam and coil covers as well as the crossover pipe black. While it was off i gave the throttle body a good clean, it needed it. The most interesting thing was the compressioun test. I did it stone cold because i wanted to see what cylinders were down when cold. They all got 125psi except for 3 which had 115 (and 125 with some oil added) and 4 which had 120. It's a lot better than i was expecting, it has 220,000 km on it so it's not that bad I guess. While everything was off I threw in some new spark plugs. Tomorrow is putting the new turbo on as well as new exhaust studs and a cometic exhaust gasket and new manifold studs, oil change, tighten oil cooler lines, fill with oil and coolant and start it. I am happy with my new wheels. -

Got the wheels on and the cooler sitting up and forward so it's perfect. Soaked the manifold turbo and dump botls multipe times with rost off. Went to quickly put the bonnet struts on with a mate before pulling the turbo off so i had all tomorrow to put it all back together and my mate was loosening off a nut on the accident side on the bonnet and "POP" sheered off...Thought i could just pull the stud out and put a new one in...no such luck. It's captice inside the skin of the bonnet....just feel exhausted and defeated. Left my beers over there too. Oh well, back into it tomorrow. I'll work out a fix to get it to the panel shop...might have to pay for a tow or something. -
Thanks for this, will help heaps when I do mine.

I just bought new lmgt4 centre caps and replacement nismo stickers for them from RHD japan. Awesome site to navigate. Way too much stuff I want on there though. Also got new hoses for all my IC pipes, fitted up the turn flow, ready to start it tomorrow and move it into my old mans garage when he goes away for the weekend on a club run so i'll change my turbo. -

The one i got apparently doesn't. The angle of the shifter is the exactly the same when i compared them. It it just slightly shorter and is solid. I did lots of reading up on the nismo one to make sure it wouldn't be detrimental to the synchronicity of my gearboxes internal components. It was the reason I got it over one of the aftermarket short shifter kits. It also came with a new shifter bushing already on it which i liked because i hate changing those things. -

Yep, that one. -
Mine is a series one. Series 2 also had a slightly better trim on the seats and door cards. The series one material get's dirty looking quite quickly. Mine has the Altia? body kit not sure if the series 2 had that as an option.

This man speaks the truth. Nice wheels too. Looks super clean.

WRONG!!!!! BOTH WRONG! Solid shifter. Only reduces throw by about 10-12% but is slightly shorter and is solid as opposed to having rubber between the inside and the outside. Came with a new bushing on it too. I am not a fan of massively short throws for daily drives. -

There was a stuff up ordering my partes at the panel shop so it's going to be a while before it's on the road. Hopefully it's sorted before i go on melbourne end of the year. On the plus side, on the way to me in the post is a set of 17'' bronze LMGT4's, new stickers and centercaps, bronze work wheel nuts, a nismo solid shifter, a set of JIC Magic coilovers and a few other things. Spent the day replacing my atmo BOV with a turbosmart plumb back one, 90% fitted a blitz turn flow intercooler, just need to pick up a 90 degree joiner for the stock piping to one of the cooler pipes and .... adjust some of the reo bar then I can start it and bleed the cooling system after doing the thermostat. The cold air box isn't designed for a turnflow kit so I ordered one that I can use the stock piping with. Also found the cause of the rattle I had coming off throttle and at idle...the wastegate actuator rod can rattle around. I have an r32 actuator and a low km turbo to put on this weekend hopefully. I just want to drive it again =\
