  1. Time for an update, haven't touched the torana for the past year, but I decided to build myself a whiskey lounge. Only a few small jobs left to do then I'll clean up the shed and sell some of my skyline spare parts then back into the torana. Dog found his seat.
  2. Getting it engineered, everything is done to the VSB14 standards.
  3. Finished the filler work on the doors and put a quick coat of epoxy over them to seal them up and epoxied the door hinges.
  4. Got the crank sensor mount machined up, just need to machine 2 bosses to set the distance from the sensor to the harmonic balancer.
  5. Put another coat over the shell and rubbed it back again, the shell is now rapped up and need to start on the doors. Also got the motor back from JPC and started fitting the manifold, sump etc. The motor has, CP pistions 9.0:1, Spool I beam rods, Spool oil pump gears in N1 housing, APR head studs and main studs, Tomei cam gears, Nitto head gasket, Ross balancer. The head has only had new valve spring, will be running the standard cams as I need to pass a full IMR240 emissions test. Also had to finish off making the oil pick up.
  6. No sorry guys it's going to be mandarin red the reason is when I was a first year apprentice I brought a LX SS 253 hatch with flares. I had the car for about 7 year until a woman failed to give way and T boned me. I kept the motor and sold the rest off, I've always regretted selling it and not fixing it.
  7. Yes using the current black wheels i have.
  8. The colour is going to be mandarin red with black outs around the side window and tail lights but probably not the black bonnet.
  9. Not much to look at, still a lot of sanding to do but your welcome to come around. The way i'm going it's going to take at least another 10 months or so until it's done.
  10. Bit of an update, the rear bob tail needed a but of work to get the gaps better, basically cut off the side of the outside pieces and fibreglass them back on and add some fibreglass to the centre section. Got a couple of coats of All-U-Need poly primer on the shell and started sanding.
  11. Got filler on both sills and quarter panels, also fitted the flares to check the gaps.
  12. Got the second coat of KBS on the inside of the shell.
  13. Got the sill back on and a coat of epoxy on it and the rest of the engine bay.
  14. The KBS is just sealer will be using some Dynamat.
  15. I have had to strip and clean and sand every part of the shell so finally got the inside and underneath painted with KBS. One coat of silver KBS, still need to seam seal then a coat of black KBS.
  16. Update time. Having the shell dipped has turned out to be more work than I thought. About 14 holes have been drilled in the shell that they never told me they were going to do so these had to be welded up. Yes that is a hole drilled in the middle of the roof skin. I was surprised at the amount of rust that started to form under panels, I had tack welded the sill panel and two extra roof braces on to the shell and removed them when I got the shell home. There are also spots where it looks like acid is still leaching out of the seams. I was also surprised at the amount of body deaden-er and seam sealer that was still in the shell. The black shape in the middle of the photo is one of the many big of body deaden-er.
  17. Not local unless you want to drive to Shepparton.
  18. Yes had it dipped at Recoat paint stripping, they work out of their shed behind their house. I don't think Recoat smash repair are going anymore after the death of a worker the other year.
  19. The motor has been dropped off at JPC and the seats are at the trimmers. Cut off the sill to repair the damage. Had the shell dipped at Recoat paint stripping and have now started spraying the epoxy/prime.
  20. Bit of an update, got the front flares to a point I am happy with. Started on the rear flares, cut the bottoms back off and started again. Wasn't happy with the bonnet hinges I made so decided to use VE commodore boot hinges, had to create a pocket each side for the hinges to sit in. Also welded up some holes and seams in the engine bay.
  21. Still playing with the front flares.
  22. Playing around with extending the front of the front flares to the spoiler.
  23. Gave the starter and alternator a clean up and some new bearings.
