Time for an update, haven't touched the torana for the past year, but I decided to build myself a whiskey lounge. Only a few small jobs left to do then I'll clean up the shed and sell some of my skyline spare parts then back into the torana. Dog found his seat.

Put another coat over the shell and rubbed it back again, the shell is now rapped up and need to start on the doors. Also got the motor back from JPC and started fitting the manifold, sump etc. The motor has, CP pistions 9.0:1, Spool I beam rods, Spool oil pump gears in N1 housing, APR head studs and main studs, Tomei cam gears, Nitto head gasket, Ross balancer. The head has only had new valve spring, will be running the standard cams as I need to pass a full IMR240 emissions test. Also had to finish off making the oil pick up.

No sorry guys it's going to be mandarin red the reason is when I was a first year apprentice I brought a LX SS 253 hatch with flares. I had the car for about 7 year until a woman failed to give way and T boned me. I kept the motor and sold the rest off, I've always regretted selling it and not fixing it.

Update time. Having the shell dipped has turned out to be more work than I thought. About 14 holes have been drilled in the shell that they never told me they were going to do so these had to be welded up. Yes that is a hole drilled in the middle of the roof skin. I was surprised at the amount of rust that started to form under panels, I had tack welded the sill panel and two extra roof braces on to the shell and removed them when I got the shell home. There are also spots where it looks like acid is still leaching out of the seams. I was also surprised at the amount of body deaden-er and seam sealer that was still in the shell. The black shape in the middle of the photo is one of the many big of body deaden-er.

Bit of an update, got the front flares to a point I am happy with. Started on the rear flares, cut the bottoms back off and started again. Wasn't happy with the bonnet hinges I made so decided to use VE commodore boot hinges, had to create a pocket each side for the hinges to sit in. Also welded up some holes and seams in the engine bay.
