Started fitting the tunnel, brought some cleko's last summit order so I thought I would give them a go. They made it a lot easier to trial fit the tunnel since I had it in and out about twenty times. After I had the tunnel neatly lapping over the floor I started cutting 50mm at a time then tacking and hammer and dolly.

Cut the tunnel out of the skyline, it made me a little sale to destroy such a nice car. Also talked to the engineer about track width and tyre and rims sizes, found out rim size is now determined by taking the widest tyre offered and increasing it but 30% then use the tyre fitment guide and see what rims suit that tyre. Since i'm using the skyline suspension and sub frame I can use the skyline track width and tyre/wheel combination. So R32 gtr had a 225/50r16 I can run up to a 285 on the front and the R33 had a 245/45r17 which works out to being up to a 315. But I can only change the track width by 25mm. Sat the skyline tunnel in the hatch. Extreme ATTESA pump removal.

Got some more done, tacked in the rails and fitted crush tubes for the subfame adapter plates. Made 4 bosses to fit into the original torana subframe mounting holes. These are welded into the top and bottom of the rail to help tie it together and allow for another mounting point. Started fitting the suspension towers.

Got a bit more done, pulled the motor and gearbox out of the rusty yellow shell to start fitting the sub frame adaptor plates into the hatch. Pauls, I want to get full rego to show what can be done under NCOP, the club rego is the last resort but even with the vic club rego the inspection is still done by a VASS engineer. It's surprising how many skyline owners have a soft spot for toranas and on the gmh-torana site a lot of torana owners have a soft spot for skylines. I suppose physically they are both about the same sized car and both are Bathursh winners.

Started on the radiator it's a HQ ebay radiator with a fan shroud I made to suit twin 12" spal fans and I moved the bottom outlet. There's about 6mm between the power steering pulley and the fan. Also mounted the 45mm turbosmart hyper-gate and tacked up the dump pipe. I'll finish the dump pipe when I get the flex coupling that will be cut in the 2" tube after the wastegate.

Thanks guys for the positive comments, I wasn't sure how it would be received.. Here's a few details on what it will be running. The RB30 is from a Nissan patrol so they were a carburetted non catalytic converter engine, so I have told the engineer I am fitting an "after market" fuel injection system and turbo, because I only need to comply to the emissions of the patrol motor the engineer is letting me run any ecu and turbo but I have to run a cat. The motor will be built by JPC who I used to build in my other rb30 torana. Ecu will most likely be another vipec v88, the awd system will be run by Full Race's ETS-pro if I hadn't come across this system I probably wouldn't started the build. Brakes are R33 Brembos, the rear end is R33 gtr, front is R32 and using BC coilover. From the outside it will look like just a LX hatchback in mandarin red but the difference will be this one will actually go, stop and turn. The last photos are where the build is at, it will probably take 2 years to finish, so it will be a slow build and maybe a few weeks between posts. Thanks Glen Here's a couple of photos of my other torana.

Making up the exhaust manifold, used the bracket i made to work out where i was mounting the turbo to make up a jig. Started making the colector by cutting up 4 peices of 1.5" sch 40 pipe and welding 2 together. After they were welded together i cut the peak off and cut out the side so they merge to one point. After that they are welded together and while still hot i hammered the sides flat to make more of a rectangular opening. From there i started planning how i was running the pipes. Manifold tacked up. Braking out the runners to weld up each one. Manifold welded up but going to change the angle of the turbo flange and need to work out where i'm pitting the wastegate.

Rear floor patched to allow the 50x50 angle for the rear subframe mount to sit against the floor and put the subfame in. Looks like i will be able to mount the coilovers on the original shocker mounts without cutting in the wheel arch. Rear mounts welded and the rear coilovers sorted, using R32 BC racing coilovers with R33 lower mounts.
