  1. Up for sale is a 5 speed gearbox, tail shaft, flywheel, slave cylinder and all the other ancillary parts needed to convert an automatic Datsun 240K coupe to a manual one. I bought this setup from a guy in South Australia who was wrecking a 240K coupe and was purchased to convert my car from an auto to a manual but unfortunately, I had to sell the car and have the gearbox and conversion bits leftover as the buyer didn’t want them. Photo’s form as part of the above description, so please look at them closely and if not sure then ask! I have it on eBay, but will sell outside of auction. I'm chasing $500 negotiable and i'm located in Sydney metro.
  2. A small update: It took me A LOT of searching around but I ended up tracking down a 5 speed gearbox, tail shaft, flywheel, slave cylinder and all the other ancillary parts needed for my auto to manual conversion. All I need now is a manual pedal box… I’ve read that I can use my existing auto with a few mods but ideally I’d prefer an original item. I figured this was going to be the hardest thing to track down; so I made it my priority. Also can anyone make suggestions as to some relatively good and easy brake upgrades for the 240?
  3. Youre spot on! Once it's done, I will never sell! no point puting in all that effort and building it the way I want it, just so someone else can enjoy my hard work haha
  4. So it arrived today and had a proper chance to look over it with a mechanic mate. The original engine is running quite rough (was fine in QLD), needs brakes and carbies need a rebuild. This has sped up my decision to take it off the road and restore it without driving it around as is. Plans for the build are: *Rebuild L24 from ground up with Webber carburettors and a lumpy cam. *Convert from auto to manual (if anyone can help me source the bits I need for this, can you please pm me) *Respray in white *240 K Manual centre console *GTR guards *GTR spoiler *GTR grill *GTR badges *GTR trim highlights (silver instead of woodgrain) *GTR steering wheel *New carpets *restored dash pad (this one’s cracked) *Wide Wantanabe with low offset (keep hubbies for shows etc) I’ve taken some quick close ups from my phone so excuse the quality.. I will get some better pictures once I get a chance.. it only arrived this afternoon and as you can see it’s NOT a museum car and is in need of restoration. As you can see no rust in the floors which is great Interior is perfect.. Some may think I paid too much or too little but at least it’s in genuine original condition. Overall I’m reasonably happy and doubt I’d have found cleaner anytime soon.. I know my plans will disappoint many people but at the end of the day, it’s another classic on the road that’s been saved from the scrap heap and will get nothing but the best parts and service. It’s my car, I have always wanted an old GTR and I’m sticking with an original style build. I won’t be putting an RB26 or anything like that (although that’d be awesome) it’s not what I want or how I envisioned it to be (I’m an old skool kinda guy!)..
  5. Hi Guys, I have FOUR (yes as in 4) Datsun L24 Skyline (240K) engines and a complete auto gear box that need new homes. The guy that I bought my car off threw them in as part of the deal but unfortunately the cost of freight (to Sydney), is too expensive. I am willing to give these away for free and I’m chasing a Manual G/BOX with peddle set as my car is currently Auto and I’d love to convert it to manual SO if you are willing to help out then I’d appreciate the swap otherwise whoever wants them can take them. I want these to go to an enthusiast who’ll use them and not someone who will simply onsell them (I COULD HAVE DONE THAT). I am a firm believer that car communities are exactly that = help each other out. They’re located in QLD about 10 mins from the GC airport. Cheers EDIT: The guy is 91 years old so please don't muck him around... be respectful and if you say you're going to grab them, then have the decency of showing up to collect them.
  6. What about Mazda 787b, The 24 Hours of Le Mans (French: 24 Heures du Mans) Or you could make mention of The Auto Union Grand Prix racing cars...
  7. I’m new to these forums and thought I’d introduce myself. Apart from my love for cars, I also like to up cycle and repurpose. I thought I’d share some of the items I have recycled. I resized the pictures so they’d be ok for the forum, if you want see more detailed pictures and other projects (before, after and higher res) then checkout my blog http://www.reinventingwheels.blogspot.com Enjoy! S13 Silvia lamp that I converted into a bedside lamp Old tractor seat that I made into a bar stool Vintage Vespa (beyond repair- check my blog) that I cut up and remade into a lounge chair and a laptop work station Gun phone Some more recent creations: Thanks from a new SAU member
  8. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading through your build thread. Can I ask, apart from Ottomoto, where else have you sourced all your parts/stickers from? I'm currently building one and any help would be appreciated. I am in Sydney as well so maybe when mines done we can go on an old school GTR cruise!
  9. Through a good friend of mine, I found out about a GENUINE one owner 1973 Datsun 240K GL 2 door coupe in white with only 51,000k’s on the clock and the history to prove it! This will be the perfect basis for a GT-R-KPGC110 replica, most commonly referred to as "Ken & Mary". Until the car arrives from QLD, this is the only picture I have I searched high and low for the right car; I have been all over the country trying to find the “right one”. I almost gave up hope until I found this car. I am a very meticulous person and although it won’t be a fast build, I can assure you that it will definitely be a quality one! The car has never had an accident and never had any repairs done which is what drew me in. It’s not museum quality but it is a well maintained 240k with a genuine history and I believe that it is the perfect starting point for a GTR rebuild. The owner, who is now 91, bought the car brand new in 1973 from Nissan and has done a fantastic job keeping it in such good condition. He was sincerely distraught when he was signing over the papers but I assured him that I’d give it a good home. Here’s a picture that I took while I was in QLD finalising payment and paper work. The car will be picked up tomorrow by the logistics company and should be here on Friday. The plan is to enjoy it a little before I take it off the road for a full restoration.
