  1. Once I do a dyno run in my car I will be happy to show you a dyno graph. Split dumps are not long enough to actually get the sort of flow you will get from a split front/dump design. Typical split dump Ces split front/dump
  2. Sam only uses the best of the best parts for his car, hence why he is using the CES front/dump. It is the best from a design point of view for an internal gate setup (design in terms of benefiting performance, not looks btw - pretty obvious I was referring to that in the first place). Also, there was the instance of someone using a HKS GT Extension Kit on an S15 (runs a Split Dump pipe, which then bolts to a 3 inch front pipe - this is not a split front/dump pipe). They went from 330ps with the HKS to 347ps once they installed the split CES racing front/dump pipe. So 17ps gain at peak power 6600rpm. At 5000rpm they were making 12ps more. Boost also came on earlier.
  3. Sam off JDMST who owns an S15 that runs 1:06's at Wakefield, is running a CES split front/dump pipe coming off a .64 GT2860RS. His exact words are "they are the shit", and considering his uncle works at a reputable exhaust place in Campbelltown I'm sure he would of asked for his advice before using one. The bloke who installed my exhaust has many years of experience and said he wouldn't have done anything different with the design of the front/dump currently on my S15. I should also mention he is friends with Skola and was taught how to weld by him as well.
  4. R32-25t is talking about a split dump, whereas I am talking about a split front/dump pipe. They are different. The split front/dump design (such as a CES Racing one) are the best for an internal gate setup.
  5. Personally, I'd go with the split, it's the best design for your setup. The split design separates the waste gate gas flow away from the main pipe (where there is turbine exit flow) which is highly desirable for improved flow... For internal gate, pretty well documented the split design provides less lag, more power, and better fuel economy Bell mouth is cheaper to buy though... My exhaust system (with the split front/dump) has netted me around 40rwkw, with improved response.
  6. I run a CES Racing Front/Dump on my S15. They make one for an R33 GTS-T as well. Quite pricey though. http://www.cesracing.com.au/products_2.htm
  7. Good to hear Dylan. During use, I use a pad cleaning brush to get off any spent residue (helps to minimise dusting). After use, I rinse pads with a realllyyyy mild detergent (as you don't want something that attacks the glue on the pad). That said, I left some LC orange pads overnight to air dry, and when I used them the next day they still had moisture. This is a bigggg no no, as the heat of the DA creates steam inside the pad and they quickly shred themselves away from the backing plate. So with that said I'd hit the pads with a hair dryer as well.... just on warm setting.
  8. Well, it's now been close to 2 months since I completed the detail.... I spent some time today washing the car, and then I applied a layer of carnauba wax, let it sit for 45 minutes, then buffed it off by hand with a megs microfiber towel. These pictures should give you a good idea of how the car looks in natural lighting in the afternoon. The reflections really have a lot of clarity which I'm super happy about, as I was able to remove a lot of the factory orange peel in the paint when I went through the compounding to polishing phases (this was my one of my goals). Roof Roof
  9. Go straight to the hard pad... no point fluffing around with the medium.
  10. I too would jump straight to FG500 like ARTZ has mentioned. Been there, done that. Btw, Menzerna fg500 is a diminishing abrasive so be sure to work it long enough... otherwise itll do more harm than good. Plus, you may get some light micro-swirls instilled by FG500, but its a compound so don't sweat - this is normal and will come out when you polish with PF2500 (so long as you polish properly). I was doing around 8-10 passes per section on speed 4.5 with a properly primed pad and using ample product. Depending on how bad your paint is, you may need to do 2-3 sets of 8-10 passes per section. Mark a black line on your yellow backing plate.... put enough pressure to hear a change in sound, then back out slightly from there. That is about the right pressure to use. The black line should be spinning freely, but if its going in really slowwwww motion and not spinning, then too much pressure.
  11. In for this, sort of. But not with the S15, will instead be co-piloting a not-so-ordinary aero-top Supra....heading there with another convoy so may cross paths. ~Over and out.
  12. Entries are open? This is news to me...
  13. Just take out your backseat? There will be a hole you can climb through to gain boot access.......and then you'll be able to sort out the problem.
  14. In case you haven't read my above post, I have sent the OP a private message. And wrong....I strongly disagree. Priming a pad is one of the fundamentals of detailing. Not the best idea to get such a thing wrong when you actually use a decent amount of pressure to get the job done. Anyway, have a go at it and then use a Brinkmann swirl finder light and tell me what you see ... I'll enjoy having a laugh. There are a lot of people who do not know how to properly detail a car. But luckily for people like this, wax is a great temporary filler that'll cover up mistakes as it'll fill in the imperfections in the clear coat. If you want to actually learn properly watch the videos on youtube from AMMO NYC and Mike Phillips. If you are one who likes saving money, you can get products cheaper from places such as AutoGeek.net, Amazon, and Cleanyourcar.co.uk.
  15. You can have my spot man. Enjoy. I will no longer be attending due to personal reasons.
  16. As far as I knew the term had become the "in-thing" .
  17. This is how a guy at carcareproducts prime their pads and instruct people how to polish... skip to 3.30 And the below link is Mike Phillips who is world-renowned detailer from the USA who has been responsible for the preparation of many successful show cars, describing you how to prime a pad.... Quite the contrast.... I know who I'd listen to if I want to properly detail a car. http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/how-articles/35292-how-prime-foam-pad-when-using-da-polisher.html Unless you know a lot about detailing, you should go with a company who can actually help you with product selection and technique etc, and won't point you in the wrong direction. Waxit is good, very helpful and advice is on point.
  18. No worries, just clearing up any confusion so it can be put to rest. Sinista32 who has been a member for 10 years has left the forum as a result of some of the goings-on in that thread ~ from what I've been told
  19. To put this into perspective I occasionally used to talk about the fact the panel gaps on my car are 100% factory spec, and would do panel gap inspections when someone showed interest in buying a car. Most of the time, I'd conclude with remarks to help the SAU'er. E.g. yeah, those panel gaps aren't factory, looks like its been in a hit. See that panel gap on the boot, it isn't flush and it's different to the other side, somethings going on. From there it just blew up and it became a pretty popular term to use on the NSW forum for when taking the piss, it was the "in-phrase" for a good while. For example, if someone was to if someone was to even minutely damage their car then their car is instantly considered a "write-off". When I made rolling contact with a car at about 1kmh on the way to a tech night, there'd be jokes such as yeah your panel gaps are f**ked now, car is a write off, which was all a good laugh. I'd often get the piss taken out of me but as far as I knew it was all in jest and I took it in good stride. I guess the admins had enough of it and determined some people weren't using it in jest perhaps and wanted to put a stop to it. I was unaware of everything going on in the background. Then the thread got fairly out of hand once someone took a low blow by saying that its a common conception im not all there in the head.... many users were left unimpressed by such remarks.
  20. Wouldn't recommend painters tape. Ive used it for detailing to mask off seals, trims and gaps and you'll only get about ~ 4 hours out of it before the "glue" starts leaving residue on the paint. And that's when the car is sitting. I'd go with a hood bra or vinyl wrap.... but prepare the surface properly before you put it on -- > e.g. get rid of any contaminants sitting on the paint.
  21. If panel gaps were a phrase used on twitter... It'd totally be trending right now
  22. Go for the concours 900. I have dealt with the owner of Waxit before for detailing products and he is a very nice helpful bloke. Excellent customer service. Wouldn't buy off carcareproducts if I was you.
  23. Terry, a lot of those who own an import do the right thing and act sensibly on the roads. I am just not sure publicly shaming that R33 driver is the best approach, as I highly doubt the owner of the vehicle will even come across this thread. I do think the original post should have been worded a lot more carefully.....as media have a very good way of twisting things to suit...and I am not sure the club would have a chance to show we are sensible enthusiasts if they were to sensationalise a story. For example, the following situation could arise... Scenario A concerned internet user documented his concerns on an online forum after an encounter with a souped up Nissan Skyline, fearing for not only his own safety, but the safety of other road users.... Then a snippet of the post is shown... "Driving home from Eastern Creek yesterday, a Maroon R33 GTR with the plates JET 26L was cutting in and out of traffic, driving like an absolute Dickhead, obviously speeding. Narrowly missed me as he cut me off, as well as many other cars. All while cracking (external) gate". ^ Something such as the above scenario is my concern.
  24. I disagree Owen. The driver isn't suddenly going to change their attitude even if by the small-chance they stumble upon this thread. By always bringing attention to when someone does something wrong, it simply makes things worse. You don't see ACA running stories of car enthusiasts on good behaviour during a cruise, you only see them run hooning stories and so on, which distorts how people generalise about people who own imports.
