Pics of my JZX100 [huge pics 56K warning]
Silver_r33 replied to dojobi's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Sure, i'll take some pics tonight. I've got the clear indicators, so does this make sense re: Xenons? From memory what they changed with the compliance was: * modified the front lights (somehow, unsure exactly) * added repeater on front quarter panels (They look blocky and crap, you should chat to the compliance agent and see if you can specify which shape and type you can use, get clear ones with the orange bulbs as a preference if you're going to change the indicators too) * cat converter was changed, including different pipe from dump to cat. * rear lights were modified (again, unsure exactly) * unleaded fuel filler * stickers and handbooks * _REMOVED_ fog lights (but i got some and put them back in, however the plugs were cut _completely_ off so i cant re-enable them easily) HOWEVER, factory tint was kept which is great considering its the actual glass thats tinted! -

heheheeh, the carbon looks really, really cheesy in real life! But the brag factor for the less knowing is great -

Geez, Toyota went weird didnt they! And yeah, series 1 dash is identical except for the white lighting which is digitally adjustable to dim Oh, and theres a funky thing for the centre vents to automatically "swing" from left to right then back again which is *really* cool! -

I'm pretty certain the Series 1's didnt have Xenon headlights as standard, and i've replaced the bulbs in them already - at compliance they engraved into the light unit the type of bulb they take. From my conversations with the compliance place they didnt seem to think the series 2 would pass without major modification of the head and tail lights (which seems *extremely* strange to me considering the number of cars around with them now). I guess we'll have to wait and see how they go with yours. No, i havent done a dyno run yet, but i got a full 3" exhaust on it quick smart and she pulls a *lot* better than before (as you'd expect). They run high boost standard too, around 0.7 bar, 0.8 after the exhaust was put on - according to the Blitz TT i have. But a dyno run will happen before the PFC, EBC, FMIC and exhaust adj cam pully are put on as well as post. I'll put up the details when i do if you like. Deep dish rims are a must too, they look soo good with them on! -

Woo Hoo! Another JZX100! This means that Australia now has a total of like 5 :headspin: Where are you getting your compliance done if you dont mind me asking? I had mine complianced by TGB imports in Penrith about 8 months ago and they told me that the S2 were definitely out of the question at that point in time due to the different tail and headlights Dont worry about the auto either, i have an auto too and have a PFC (the only auto car that Apexi makes the PFC for) on order and you can apparently change shift points as the stock shifting is a little to "twitchy" for my liking. Good luck with the importing!! -
Anyone?

Hey guys, I'm just interested in peoples experience when the different exhaust diameter's start to become a restriction? I know that the number of bends, etc will make a difference, but assuming the exhaust is mandrel bent with a straight thru muffler and a cat that matches the exhaust size, where does 3"/3.25"/3.5" start to become restrictive? Thanks!

Thanks Terminal! I didnt realise it was a Stagea until i pulled up next to you I have to say, tho, that the Stagea has a fair bit more poke than i thought it would! Would have been quite funny for a bystander to see (what looks like) a Camry and a Volvo wagon shoot off as quick as we did... I like the rims on your ride by the way!

Not holding boost after fitting FMIC
Silver_r33 replied to YOYO's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
What turbo are you running? T25g? When does the boost start to taper off, immediately, or just as you rev it higher? Try disconnecting the EBC and see how boost goes then. If it still tapers off, it could be the stock turbo running out of puff, or a boost leak. -
Hey guys, Just about to puchase an EBC but not exactly sure whats the go with all of them. HKS EVC, Blitz DSBC, Apexi AVCR, Trust Profec-B... My car's never going to run over 1.5 Bar, and i've got a feeling that all the flashy lights and cool displays will eventially become a little bit of a gimmic, so the Blitz is looking the option. What i'd like to know is peoples experience with the different EBC's the troubles they've had (during install, useage, etc), reasonable limitations of the models, and if the flashy displays have had the novelty worn off after owning it for a while. Thanks guys!

Hey guys, Its a nice 1jz-gte with VVTi. I'm still coming to grips with the torque it has at 2500rpm or so... No dent in the LHR, but i have seen the same car driving around a little. I'll see how the stop light grand prix goes once she gets some number plates... Doubt i'll get some 'line scalps - too many GTR's around! I'll come for a cruise next time there's one lined up for meetz and greetz! Cheers.

Hey guys, its pretty much standard right now, but i've got to go over it with a tooth comb to make sure. I know it has some sort of aftermarket suspension (got ohlins boxes in the boot with the standard shocks in them), Blitz turbo timer and thats about it. Its an auto unfortunately, damn manuals are expensive! Compliance was done by the only listed RAW in Australia - TGB Unique Imports.

Hey guys, just thought i'd share some photos with you of my Chaser which i finally picked up on the weekend. It still amazes me the amount of dirt and grime which can physically accumulate on a car while in transit/on a ship/being stored Suffice to say after the drive from Sydney home i am a little happy with the purchase :jump: :jump: Now for that exhaust... :boinkcar: Oh, and i never thought i'd say that the factory white is actually a *really* good colour - its got a blue pearl over the top!

Out of interest, how *did* the GtiR go in the WRC?

Hey guys, Just looking to get some feedback from any of you who may have got an exhaust fabricated locally, where you got it done, roughly how much and how satisfied you were with the job. I'm looking at getting a full 3" exhaust in the next month or so, and 2nd hand cat-back Jap systems aren't readily available for my poor JZX100... And the brand new ones are looking at costing around $1100! So custom is looking very attrictive... Thanks.

Hey guys, I used to have a Silver 33, but now i got a 1998 JZX100 Tourer V which should be in Canberra in a week... I figure its a 2.5L turbo RWD, so it's close to being a 'line right? Its pretty much stock, but wont be for long

I tell you what guys, as soon as my JZX100 gets off the boat i'll take some pictures and you can all decide for yourselves what you think the exterior/interior looks like. Vindicare: what year were you looking at with those FOB prices? While i was bidding on grade 4-4.5 1997/early1998 models, around 60k kms, the autos were being sold at auction around 1-1.2 million FOB. Manuals were higher again, but not sure of their end price. If you can get a good grade 4 for 750-900k you're onto a winner for sure.

Thanks guys, i'll check out toymods. The JZX100 i've got coming on the boat is a 1998 Tourer V model, but only the series 1. Apparently the compliance shops are having issues with the front and rear lights on the later models. I still can't believe that there is only 1 registered compliance workshop in Australia still! I'm paying about $5500 for compliance BTW.

Hey guys, I've just recently purchased a JZX100 at auction in Japan and was wondering if anyone knew of a forum like this one or and Australian website which has information to do with them? Things like maintenance, mods, etc. essentially the same stuff discussed here, but for the JZX100? Thanks!

I'm here! But not for long... =(

OK... the reason why i say my Falkens are crap (NOTE not ALL Falken) is because: a) I understeer 8O in the wet around corners at any moderate speed B) traction is completely non-existant in the wet. c) when giving it some, the transition from 1st to 2nd (in the dry) makes the back step out heaps. And my car is STOCK. In the past 20,000 k's they dont seem to have worn at all, so i guess thats an ok thing. What pressure do you guys run.... i found that @ approx 36psi (warm) i got better grip than @ 30-32psi. I will see if i can change to the g-grid II's and see what change there is...
-
Hey everyone, I have Falken crap on my stock R33 currently, and they dont grip at all. I have some oldish G-Grid 2's spare, and was wondering if I changed to these, would I get better grip? I would love to get some 901's, but I cant afford it right now! What do you guys think? Cheers.
